  1. I know, but it could also be the second Space Cruiser for the Global Dream 2, but that project has been scrapped so I do not know what they will do with it.
  2. That one is the Bolt : Ultimate Sea Coaster for Carnival Celebration and then another one is being built for the Carnival Jubilee next year.
  3. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w3Ykb2tcCAg 1st episode out, see if you can spot Icon on the background.
  4. From what I know, there were some issues with the hydrodynamic efficiency of the bow that has meant that some changes had to be made according to the scale model testing. As a result, the construction of the bow blocks was pushed back a few weeks due to the redesign of the bow.
  5. With the stern, it will be split like the Oasis Class, however, rather than having an upwards slope, it will have it slightly slanted back instead, which is fairly similar to the new MSC World Europa.
  6. https://www.royalcaribbean.com/gbr/en/cruise-ships/icon-of-the-seas An update to the Royal website.
  7. Pretty close. I am looking at the plans right now and you are close. It is completely different to Oasis, it will have some similar features but it's completely different other wise.
  8. You know that's 23,865.7 GT heavier than Wonder, I will say it's around the 2%-3% range.
  9. The Aqua Theatre is at the stern of the ship, very much similar to the Oasis Class ships, in fact, very much similar to the Wonder Of The Seas version. I can not talk about any new features of the ship and some things that are coming back, so you will have to wait and see. Dimensions wise, I can only say look at the Wonder's dimensions and that will give you a basis of what Icon will be size wise, but the announcement will tell all. Same with gross tonnage. All I can say on the number of berths is that it has remained the same throughout the project, it just kept changing because we were messing around with layouts and that jazz, so it is as close to what is out there as possible.
  10. The advantage of the Parabolic Ultra Bow is that it is more hyrdrodynamically efficient than the regular raked bow. Basically what we have done is taken the normal bow style and wraped the area between the tip of the bow and the tip of the bulb in steel creating a flow of water around the ship rather than it gathering in the gap between the bottom of the bow and the bulb. You are right about the ice rink, we have kept it in the same place due to the heaviness of the venue and also to bring the centre of gravity down. Icon and the future ships will all have the same layout when it comes to the location of the ice rink. Oh, sorry about that, we call it something different when we are designing the space, but the ice rink will be in the same place as usual, but SeaPlex will be developed into something a little different. Due to the weight of the ice skating rink we can not physically put it in the location you are talking about. But other features, I can not talk about in regards to new activities. So Icon will have a new version of the Aqua Theatre found on the Oasis Class ships, obviously, it takes up a considerable amount of space at the stern of the vessel, so it will not have a 270 style venue. I understand that many have wanted a bar around the funnel style venue again, but Royal go by the formula of, Evolution, Innovation and Revolution, which basically means we evolve existing venues and spaces, innovate new spaces and concepts and then revolutionise the industry with new and exciting ideas that help us to be the very best in the competition. Unfortunately, I cannot share anything remotely close to that, but all I am going to say is Icon Of The Seas will be the biggest and the best cruise ship, ever to sail the seven seas.
  11. Firstly, welcome to Cruise Critic. I am currently one of the naval - architects who design the ships for Royal Caribbean and the sister brands. I work in a team of 10 naval - architects who design the ship as a whole. I have also done some interior design work on the Oasis Class ships in particular and I have done quite a bit for the Icon Of The Seas.
  12. In regards to the ice skating rink, Icon's will be similar to recent one on our ships, in the way they are located towards the centre of the ship, because of guest flow and popularity. As you should know if you have been on a Royal cruise, if not please do because I can't recommend it enough, the ice skating is fairly unpopular as the location of it is pretty hidden, so with Icon and future ships we have found a way to make it so it is more included in the main areas of the ship. In regards to the so called "Sea - Plex", which I am guessing you mean the Aqua Theatre or the Waterpark, we could not in any way put the ice skating rink out in the open due to the immense heat in the majority of the locations we sail. I would like to think that we could find a way to do it but the main issues are heat and space on the open decks. So, no there will not be a ship with a combo ice skating rink and Sea Plex area.
  13. Sadly, I cannot say anything on this subject, but expect an announcement date in the coming weeks.
  14. I can say confidently, and not because Royal told me too, that this ship lives up to the name and will be the "Icon" Of The Seas. Because I work for Royal, I am only allowed to mention things that are already known and seen by the community, and I am happy to say that the Parabolic Ultra Bow is one of the features I am allowed to talk about. I look forward for all of you to finally see the product next month and hope that it lives up to all the hype the project has been getting. Obviously, if any of you have any questions about Royal's new ships/projects, I am very happy to help and get you the answer, so fire away.
  15. Icon Of The Seas will have a Parabolic Ultra Bow similar to Celebrity's Edge Class ships. It just means that it is bringing something different to Royal Caribbean, which some people will think is ugly, but having seen the renders and the 3D models of the ship, I can confirm that the new bow designed works for the overall design of Icon.
  16. At first, I thought that Norwegian had screwed themselves over by introducing this style of ship and during it's construction, I started to really see the purpose of the design and have some appreciation of the complexity of the ship. I am going to be on the 2nd ever paid-passenger sailing and I am looking forward to it. I am personally excited to see how they make the ship bigger for Prima 3 - 6, and I don't know how it will effect the overall atmosphere of the ships in the future.
  17. I’m just going to bump the thread a bit here, but I think people are expecting an announcement of the 2nd Triton Class name at the D23 Expo this year. This corresponds with announcement of the Wish’s name reveal 2-3 years before its launch. So it would only be right for Disney to announce it this year for the delivery of the 2nd ship in 2024. My guess is maybe because of the 3rd ship coming right after in 2025 we could see them announce the rest of the names because the next D23 is in 2024 which is slightly too late to announce the 3rd ship as it will be delivered in 2nd quarter of 2025 which doesn’t give enough time for bookings and reveals of new features. So, Disney should reveal the name of the 2nd ship in a few weeks at D23 Expo 2022 and also expect the announcement of the 3rd ship as well. As DCL Fan covered about a year ago there are two other names on the Disney Cruise Line collection of merchandise. Those names being, “ Imagination”, and, “Adventure”, which I think are good names, but I think, “Adventure”, should be changed to, “Enchantment”, which reflects the Disneyness of the Cruises.
