  1. Methinks Mrs Drink It All had good reason to drink and leave the table for long periods of time.
  2. Can't offer any suggestions other than to call, and I can offer empathy. I've had website issues, as well. I wrote an extensive post back in December about how to get through to Celebrity by phone with the minimal amount of frustration. Maybe it will help:
  3. The vast majority of public k-12 schools have spring break over and done with by the week after Easter. I think you should be OK and if any, they will likely be minimal.
  4. I have also been looking and unable to find this option, though I know it was there before! I've searched all over, both on the website and the app. I booked back in November and recall seeing it, but decided to wait. Now it's gone, apparently. It's fine. I'll just let them add it to my onboard account, but I do find it odd that the option disappeared.
  5. Hi all, It's less than a month before my first Celebrity Cruise and I'm trying to navigate through all the details before arriving at the port to make embarkation as seamless as possible. Two questions (so far): I've tried about 3 times (on different days) to enter a special occasion and each time it seems to take it, but when I go back to look at it, there's nothing more than an invitation to add a special occasion. Is it normal for it to not show up? Now that I'm closer to the sail date, more options are popping up for requests before sailing. I'm cruising with a friend and we will want the beds separated. I saw the option to indicate that and input it a few times, but each time it reverts to "uknown". I can only assume that it's not registering my request. I know I can ask the cabin steward once onboard, but why do they provide the option to indicate preference if it won't even retain my choice?
  6. I used to use them back in the day when my daughter was young and mobile service was non-existent on crusie ships. Since so many others were, too, it *was* chaos, on every channel. And having one more thing to carry everywhere we went was not so fun, either.
  7. Thank you! Do we need to do anything to be "linked" or is that already taken care of by virtue of the fact we're on the same reservation?
  8. I am traveling in the same state room as a friend, but we won't be attached at the hip. She has decided not to purchase wifi. Will we be able to use the app to message each other thru the app ? (practically speaking - I read on the website that this is possible) And do I need to do anything special to ensure we are "linked" or is that already taken care of as we are under the same reservation number. TIA!
  9. Just saw this from a news site. It is concerning, both from a personal safety angle and the concern of the impact on the economy of the Bahamas if tourism is decreased as a result. I am on a cruise with port call in Nassau in March. I guess we will just keep an eye on whether the cruise line makes any statement or adjustments by then.
  10. It really shouldn't be this difficult. This will be my first Celebrity Cruise and knowing these things happen not just to me, but others frequently, well, it's not a good first impression.
  11. I had a similar problem. Booked around the Black Friday sale and then went in to make some adjustments (nothing with a cost associated). It suddenly took my booking from a very reasonable sale price to an outrageously different total. I, too, had to call to get it adjusted and that was a lot of time on hold I'll never get back. I decided after that to not make any further changes, no matter how tempting, until the final payment was made.
  12. Update in case any future cruisers are searching for the same info. When I checked in for myself and set my arrival time, it automatically assigned the arrival time for the "party".
  13. Thanks! I will go back in and see about getting her check-in time set.
  14. Hi all, First-time X cruiser and I just checked in for my Summit Feb. 29 cruise. I'm sharing the cabin with a friend who lives in another state. I saw the option to check her in, as well, but I don't have the details such as her passport #, etc. Is it possible for her to create her own login and link to the existing reservation so she can privately enter her details? I made the reservation for both of us and I would trust her to log in using my username and pw. Just seems cleaner to have two separate log-ins pointing to the same reservation. Thanks!
  15. I don't disagree with you, yet it does make me wonder about their motives for not setting up what seems like a very easy and common nudge.
  16. I was going to start a thread to ask if it was normal to not get a single email reminder about final payment. First-time Celebrity cruiser with sail date of Feb. 29. Final payment due today. Not a peep from Celebrity except attempts to sell me another cruise!! Yes, I checked my spam folder. Fortunately, the date was cemented in my head so the final was made yesterday. But really, really surprising not to get reminders. My condolences go out to the OP for their troubles.
  17. Need to speak to a real person? Here's a distillation from other threads and my own experience for anybody else who needs it: TLDR: I got through to a real person with the least hassle/frustration by dialing 888-859-7692 then pressing 2 then 1 at which point I was given the opportunity to request a return call within a specified time-frame (which was actually quite accurate!). If you love details, keep reading: There are at least 3 toll-free numbers you can call: 888-751-7804 (displayed on CelebrityCruises.com) 888-303-6067 (buried within another thread) 888-859-7692 (also buried within another thread) As far as I can tell from trying each, the functionality of each number is identical to the others. When you call in, you will be given 2 prompts: First Prompt: - If you are or are working with a Travel Agent Press 1 - If you booked directly with Celebrity, Press 2 - To book directly with a Celebrity sales associate, Press 3 - To ask a question about a past cruise, Press 4 Second Prompt: - If you reserved with a certified vacation planner, Press 1 - Through a travel agent, Press 2 - If you booked directly through the website, Press 3 Because I had booked online, I tried the first phone number above, then chose 2, 1 which had me on hold for 2.25 hours before I finally gave up (I had it playing in the background while watching a TV show and reading CruiseCritic; otherwise, it would've been complete unbearable!). The annoying thing was that it kept repeating the same message about every 60 seconds: "Please continue to hold. Your call will be answered by our next available representative." There was never any indication of my place in line or approximately how long to expect before I could get through to a real person. Thanks to some other kind folks here on Cruise Critic, I found the other phone numbers above and one comment that said that they were offered the opportunity to leave a callback number, which does NOT happen on the Press 2 Press 3 option at any of the above-listed lines. I don't know why they want to punish people who book via the website, but considering the glitches that have been reported lately and my confidence in Celebrity as a whole going down by the minute, I decided to proceed with Press 2, Press 1 and was offered the opportunity to leave my name and number, then the automated system said it would be 60-90 minutes. Once I left my information, the estimated time was adjusted to 85 minutes and it was within 2 minutes of that! I did have about 5 minutes waiting on the line before the real person did pick up, but it was far preferable to the indefinite wait on hold. I approached with kindness and got my needs met very quickly. I hope this helps other travelers as it seems there are a lot of people calling (the Celebrity rep told me this) and certainly the lengthy hold times confirm that!
  18. So, something similar seems to have happened to me. I just booked about 12 hours ago, received the email with attachment showing my invoice and proper amount that I agreed to, but as I've been poking around trying to sort out details, it is now showing online that I owe about 2.5X what the emailed invoice says. I tried calling at 9:50 MST and went through some prompts only to be told they were closed and that the hours are open until 2 am (in what time zone? Because if it's ET, it was only approaching midnight at that point). I'm not terribly anxious about it since I have the email invoice, but I'd like to not spend more time on the phone trying to sort out the issues than actually being on this cruise. I hope they get their problems fixed soon! For this first-time Celebrity cruiser, this has not been an impressive start.
  19. Hi all, Very basic question ahead. Sorry, I've searched for quite awhile and can't see the answer I need. I've never sailed on Celebrity before and it's been over a decade since my last cruise on any line, so I'm a bit rusty. Reading the Cancellation Policy on X, I don't see details as to whether a cancellation after final payment = complete loss of funds or if future cruise credit is available. I'm willing to buy Cancel for Any Reason insurance, but I'd rather not spend the extra $$$ if future credit would be available. Thanks!
