  1. hi all, unfortunately our cruise in November 2023 skipped great stirrup cay - i was really disappointed because i was excited about silver cove. i tried to do a lot of research beforehand to choose a villa, but there's just not much information out there. just fyi, there's a great new video that goes through all of the villas and gives more info, link below. we had booked an ocean villa b/c it's closer to bar/food - but after this video (and looking at the pool!) - we would likely book a lagoon studio if we have a chance to go again.
  2. just wanted to say that we loved our room, it's just that the balcony was smaller than anticipated and the fact that our neighbors could see into our room was disappointing. but the penthouse room was beautiful, and the balcony was still enjoyable. have a wonderful trip everyone - Vista is magnificent! will post a review asap.
  3. Hi all, we just got back from a 12-day Caribbean cruise on Vista, and stayed in 7107. The cruise overall was fantastic, and i'll post a review elsewhere eventually. the staff are phenomenal and work incredibly hard. we had previously sailed on Regatta to Alaska. this was our first penthouse room, which we chose because we were sailing with our mom and needed a 3-person room. very limited choices on Vista! i was worried about the balcony, but we typically don't use cruise balconies very much b/c we have found them windy and prefer to be out by the pool, etc. the penthouse room was beautiful. perfect for the three of us. 2 sinks in the bathroom, huge beautiful shower, etc. poor water pressure from rain showerhead but the handheld was sufficient for when you needed to rinse out shampoo, etc. beds are heaven. the sofa bed - with extra duvets on the mattress, was comfortable enough as well. we were disappointed in the balcony. the balcony was not as wide as the room. the balcony for our neighbors on the left extended beyond our left window. and then the balcony on the right jutted straight out, and people on that balcony can see directly into our room (see pictures.) there is definitely not enough room for a lounger. my mom enjoyed sitting on our balcony and thankfully there weren't people out at the edge of the balcony next door very often. but just wanted to share our experience. if a balcony is important to you - would choose another room. i feel like our balcony was the size of a smaller room, but i'm not totally sure. on the up side - it actually wasn't windy! it was nice sitting on the balcony. also - i loved the location of our room, in the aft of the ship. the restaurants are aft, the lounges etc more forward. sorry for long post!
  4. hi all, i keep searching for more info on silver cove because there's so little out there. just saw this link that makes it sound like the ocean villas don't have air conditioning, but the lagoon villas do. can anyone verify that the ocean villas have air conditioning as well? also - any updates would be appreciated as asked by vacation44. 🙂 thank you! https://cruise-panorama.com/silver-cove-at-great-stirrup-cay-luxury-and-seclusion-beyond-imagination/
  5. hi all - would anyone who was wondering about an ocean versus lagoon villa please reply with their thoughts after making it to silver cove? the reviews on this thread are very helpful! we have an ocean villa reserved for a cruise in November. thank you! 🙂
  6. Does anyone have an updated map of silver cove with the villa numbers? the one on the first page has all villas as "lagoon" villas. thank you! also, i'm not sure what the "new" ocean villas are... but we have an ocean villa reserved for a cruise in November. can anyone comment on the temperature of the water for swimming in the lagoon vs ocean around that time? thank you! 🙂
  7. Denie, will you please respond after your January cruise as to what you thought of this room and balcony for 7107? i don't think we can change it now anyway, just curious 🙂 thank you so much!
  8. what does "new" ocean villas mean - have they been renovated? thank you all 🙂
  9. hi all, just wanted to see if anyone has been to GSC specifically silver cove recently. i don't see any recent reviews of the villas. we are booked for an "ocean villa" on a cruise in November, after reading many older reviews. seems like these ocean villas are closer to bar/buffet, and that the water might be better for swimming (idk if this is true.) however, these villas are older (?). from pictures - it looks like maybe the lagoon villas have a chaise couch while the ocean villas do not -- idk if this is only difference or not. we don't need a 1 or 2 bedroom, just a studio. seems like the studio lagoon villas are on the far end of the map. anyone have any recent visits to silver cove to comment on any of this? thank you 🙂
  10. hi all, just wondering if anyone who has been on Vista stayed in this PH3 - very curious about the balcony especially (space and view), and the comfort of the sofa bed. i'm so excited based on all of the Vista reviews, just curious if anyone stayed in this cabin yet 🙂 thank you!
  11. to vacation44: our sailing is in November 2023. trying to find out what i can about the villas to make a decision, but there's not much out there! it seems like the ships cancel at GSC quite often unfortunately. fingers crossed we get to go! hope everyone has a wonderful trip 🙂
  12. Hi all, we have booked a GSC ocean villa for a cruise later this year, based on reading other reviews that the ocean villa is closer to the bar, buffet etc. but i'm concerned with one of the comments that says the ocean villa doesn't have access to the Lagoon - is this true? i thought you could access both the ocean and the lagoon from any of the villas. thank you! 🙂
  13. Hi all, Does anyone have a picture of the aft transition from narrow to extended balcony? i was able to find a picture of the forward transition (on CC!), which is a sloped transition reflected in the deck plans. The aft transition is more at a right angle and i'm trying to get an idea of what it is like (i'll be in a cabin with the last narrow balcony for a Vista cruise.) thank you!!
  14. hi all, we are debating between a few cabins for a Vista cruise, one on deck 11 and one on deck 7 in a similar location to 7106/7109 on Riviera/Marina (last of narrow balcony rooms before extended balcony cabins, aft of ship). i can't find any posts about these cabins (7106/7109), specifically with respect to the balcony and whether the view is obstructed, etc because of the location. does anyone have experience with these cabins? thank you! 🙂
  15. Hi all, sorry to post again. we reserved PH1 room 11030 on Vista for a November 2023 cruise to the Caribbean (through Oceania), and right now we are working on finding a travel agent. in the process of doing this, we've discovered that PH3 room 7107 is actually still available. while i'm sure either would be fine, i wanted to ask opinions given the wisdom and experience of this group. we like that room 11030 is closer to the top deck amenities including bar, library, gym, executive lounge, etc. however it is located below the pool area/waves bar. room 7107's balcony maybe has an obstructed view as it is the first "narrower" balcony before the aft extended balconies. and maybe it's not as ideal a location, i'm not sure. possibly more movement of the ship given its aft location, but maybe less noise because only cabins above on deck 8? definitely a cost savings to PH3, so trying to decide which one to take (need a 3 person room.) any thoughts would be appreciated. 🙂 excited no matter what. thank you!!
  16. thank you! we called asap this morning, and now have room 11030 reserved - next to executive lounge. sort of mid ship 🙂 not many options left for 3 person rooms, fingers crossed. 🙂 we booked with Oceania, and will transfer to a travel agent (i learned this from the CC boards 🙂) - do any of you have a recommended TA? it seems best to go through the connoisseur club, but i think there are a few different agents within this. happy new year everyone!
  17. you are all wonderful, thank you so much! 🙂
  18. thank you so much - we looked into that, it's more expensive than getting a PH, but we are looking at all options 🙂 thank you! i'm sorry - i know this has been discussed on other threads, but now i'm weighing getting a room forward (worried about movement) vs aft under the terrace cafe. if any additional wisdom on this decision, please let me know. thank you! 🙂
  19. thank you so much! 🙂 it looks like this cabin might be taken now, but will see... appreciate all the thoughts. i think i will just stop searching and be happy with whatever we get. 😉 thank you!
  20. ack i'm so sorry - yes i meant 7107, sigh. thank you so much. 🙂 deck 7 would be good then b/c there are no public spaces on deck 8. if the "narrow" deck isn't too bad, then maybe will stay with 7107. thank you!
