  1. Yes. You have to configure set up. I originally had to get that right as we are always on Marriott Bonvoy and that issue arose but after pushing a few radio buttons in the config. Smooth now but some trial and error originally but haven't had any issues in RCL after knocking out set up snags while in Marriott Good tutorial on set up https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AAucRePaQu8
  2. Yes. The mini router. Pretty small footprint. There are videos on how to configure. I agree the steel could/would be a problem. I'm hopeful that as a result of access point in the room, perhaps a little better. As far as set up, it is a bit of trial and error. I use my ipad. Log in to RCL page to connect. Type in the 192.168.8.1 home page, have router scan for RCL guest, select join, have my SSID set up as the sub network. Then wait about 30 seconds and switch wifi on ipad to select my SSID. Typically, the iCafe reprompts and I say switch devices and off and running. I'll be on 7 day over the holidays and can update wtih exact details. When we have gone to MDR for breakfast and "switched" devices to access while at breakfast, I have had to switch devices back to ipad once in room, then select my SSID again, log in to icafe and switch devices...so a touch cumbersome but worth it avoid competing for the device. If you are already paying for internet (multiple devices), not necessary but since I get 4 free 24 hr sessions it makes sense to have the convenience of travel router (dimensions are like 2"x2"x1")
  3. Internet download speeds are hit or miss so not sure I would rely on the internet for work unless you had the ability to do much of the work off line and simply upload/download with a bit of patience. I have brought travel router on last 2 cruises with no issue to enable both my spouse and I to access internet when in cabin. Obviously, when on top deck, we just log in as necessary to the RCL wifi but when back in cabin, we just log in router back in to RCL and our devices pick up the travel router SSID. For reference, I have a mango router that is great for travel. On our next cruise, we will be going on Oasis class so anxious to see speed with access points in cabin. Wondering if kids can access from cabin across the hall or if too much interference.
  4. Sorry for the misunderstanding. The issue is not the cruise but your ability to get to the embarcation point. Definitely a difficult scenario and I can understand your frustration. It is too bad you were unable to get insurance wtihin 21 days of booking. I think your best path forward is keep trying to escalate and perhaps get future cruise credit if you find a sympathetic customer service rep. I don't see a refund occurring but you never know...
  5. so to summarize, you'd like to cancel after final payment as a result of general concerns or safety concerns in a region for an issue that may or may not be resolved by December. I would say that it is not an unreasonable request but I can also see how a public corporation wouldn't honor the request at present. Perhaps as it gets closer to embarkation date, they reconsider their position. Is it possible to recover via trip insurance based on the current climate in the region?
  6. I miss the ocean adventure club younger kids coming through dinner as part of their evening activites. We dropped off ours several times and one time they were dressed as pirates chanting "give us your dessert!" through the MDR
  7. They know how to make the reservation...Anyone can take a reservation.ðŸĪŠ Just returned from Independence and tried MTD for the first time and it was brutal. The non-reservation line actually moved quicker and the line was literally down the cabin rooms on 3rd floor for both res and non-res. This is for 715pm. We were moved in to the suite line on first night as they "checked us in" while standing in the line even though we weren't in a suite and we simply followed that model each night thereafter and only waited several minutes but if you weren't an angle shooter it was going to be very frustrating. Going back to late seating in Dec with larger party.
  8. Internet seems a bit hit or miss so it can be a little frustrating. Set the expectations and you'll be fine. I would suggest just 1 device as noted above. Any other users can use and would automatically log out the other party. A little coordination is required but it is fine. If multiple people are diamond, you can map your internet access strategy to have frugal yet reasonable access. Of course, you can always buy the package for the duration. 🙂 Additionally, you could purchase a mini router (Mango on Amazon for approx $25) and allow both parties to access internet at the same time. The device is also useful for any future hotel or other travels where you can protect access from some public wifi (Hilton, Marriott, etc). Enjoy the cruise.
