Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Hello Ready2go11; Thank you VERY much for taking this picture for me and posting it here, on C.C. At least the steps are covered with a carpet which helps to absorb the sound of feet walking on the steps. A picture speaks a thousand words and this picture does for me. Again, Thank You Very Much for taking this picture and posting it. Yikes, but not surprising on the term that you described the area in front of 10002 and 10004 as being a "...small highway...". Oh well, but thank you for the warning. On a prior cruise to Alaska on the Nieuw Amsterdam we stayed on the most aft room in the short hallway from the Observation/Crowsnest. As yet, that position is our absolute most favorite location for a cabin, but it would only be sheer luck to be able to get that position room again. We like being on the same floor as the Observation/Crowsnest, so I guess the cost of convenience for my husband to get a well made Americano coffee early in the morning, will be that we have to live along a "small highway". In the future we will have to book *even further* in advance to be on the same floor as the Observation/Crowsnest floor, but further after of the elevators. Happy sailing the high Atlantic seas to you, Ready2go11. Sincerely, Ruth
  2. Hello crystalspin; WOW, you are dedicated and fantastic! Thank you for finding that thread that explains what that little room is forward of cabin #10002 and for the one post where they uploaded 3 pictures to show what that little room is, of a small elevator and stairs. You are a real sleuth and very knowledgeable about how to get around on C.C. Crystalspin, consider yourself to have your back patted for your dedicated work and information that you provided to me. VERY MUCH appreciated. This afternoon I joined cruisedeckplans.com so I will be posting pictures from my previous cruises and from future cruises on this website. Best wishes and High Seas to you. Sincerely, Ruth
  3. Good Sunny Afternoon to Dobby36; Wow, thank you for your very detailed and handy information. Yes, it is the room in yellow that I was asking about which you and another poster named crystalspin quickly replied to me. My husband and I read your assessment of everything and are impressed at the time and good information that you provided to us. Everything that you said is exactly our questions about what to expect. You were reading our minds about having easy access to the good morning coffee in the Observation/Explorations, as that IS easy for my husband to stay there for his coffee while I am getting ready in the morning. In the morning, I am always slower than him, so this is a good option for us. I really appreciate yours and crystalspin's answer to my questions. Thanks to both of you, I will now immediately be contacting our travel agent, asking if cabin #10002 is still available and if so, to have our booking changed to 10002. Happy sailing to you and your family. Sincerely, Ruth
  4. To crystalspin; Thank you very much for your detailed explanation. That is exactly what I needed to hear. Thank you for describing the rooms, of which orientation the bed and sofa is. I can put up with a lot, but I dislike a sofa closer to the entrance door and the bed next to the glass verandah doors. Thank you for confirming to me that both rooms #10002 and 10004 and in fact, that all cabins on the 10th floor, have the bed closer to the entrance door and the sofa closer to the verandah. That is very good to know. Again crystalspin, thank you for your very detailed and useful information. Happy sailing to you. Sincerely, Ruth
  5. Hello; I am looking on the Oosterdam deck plans. On Deck #10, there is a room without a door, forward of cabin #10002. In the diagram it shows a wheelchair and some short lines that look like it could describe stairs/steps. Question: What is that room forward of cabin #10002? How often often used? Is there a library wall of book that would be on the wall adjoining to cabin #10002? If you have, it would be nice to see a picture of that room forward that is sharing a common wall with cabin #10002, Also, considering cabin #'s 10002 and 10004, can you tell me if the bed is closer to the verandah windows or is the sofa closer to the verandah windows? Happy sailing to everybody. Many Thanks, Ruth.
  6. To Dobby36: What luck - you are just the person that we need for you to help us with some questions. On the deck plans it shows a wheel chair and short lines what looks like stairs/steps. What is the room in front of Room #10002? Could you please explain what that room is, how often it is used, what is it used for and is it noisy should we be in cabin #10002? To Dobby36, did you find it to be loud or annoying to be so close to the observation/Crowsnest? Was it annoying (people talking) or too loud with people walking between the elevator and the operation/Crowsnest? On a future cruise, we are booked in room #10004 but we have the opportunity to change to cabin #10002. What other advice do you have for us being in cabin #10002 or #10004? Touch wood, we have never been sea-sick. We have stayed in a very aft cabin and in a cabin on the same floor as the observation/Crowsnest, just aft of the elevators and as yet we have never even had a touch of sea-sickness. On a lighter note, we like having our cabin on the same floor as the observation/Crowsnest but it is also dangerous, as it is too easy for my husband to drink too many of his beloved high-octane Americano coffee's. 🙂 Thank you. Sincerely, Ruth
  7. Thank you for your advice. I am new to this so I am still learning the ropes and protocol about this site. Happy cruising to all. Sincerely, Ruth
  8. Aloha Fellow Cruisers; The Koningsdam ship comes into port in Nawiliwili on February 06th, 2023. My husband and I are taking the raft ride which is a 30 minute and $60.00 taxi per one direction from the port to the place where we are supposed to catch the raft ride. Will anybody else be on the Koningsdam or in Nawiliwili on February 06th, 2023, that is booked to be on this raft ride, that wants to share the cost of the taxi ride? Thank you, Ruth
  9. Hello Amigo's; We will be in an inside cabin on the Zaandam from Feb. 18th - March 04th, 2023. Is there an umbrella available for our use to take off the ship at a port stop? Will Customer Service lend us an umbrella? Are binoculars supplied in each room? Thank you kindly, Adios cruising amigo's, Ruth
  10. Aloha Friends; We will be staying in a room on the 11th floor forward (not in a suite) on the Koningsdam. Is there an umbrella supplied in each room? Or, do the 11th Floor balcony rooms - not a suite, have an umbrella for use? Thank you, Ruth
