Here I am again. Vaping affects me. I still remember the first time I encountered it. I was in a pool on a cruise ship, nowhere near the smoking section. But I started to wheeze like someone was smoking. I was really confused ... I couldn't see smoke, couldn't smell anything... until I saw a young woman sitting on the edge of the pool sucking on what looked like a USB drive. So I asked her about it, found out it was a vape thing, and then asked her if she could do it in the smoking section. She was honestly shocked it gave someone a reaction and complied.

There is zero chance....zero...that you had an acute respiratory attack from someone using a vape a pool's length away from you outside. How do you know you weren't reacting to exhaust fumes from the ship? Correlation is not causation.

the first is that there are hundreds of chemicals in vapor, including cancer causing agents, as well as metal compounds.

The same could be said for aerosol sunscreens or hairspray. Are you going to call security next time someone is using them on a balcony? And again, the "second hand toxicity" from vaping is literally only valid in an unventilated enclosed space like a dive bar.

the second is that the last discussion here in the forum of whether vaping on NCL ships can cause harm was shut down.

Is that some kind of threat?

It's not allowed in non smoking areas on cruise ships for one. I guess you don't care if someone doesn't follow the rules that are there for your safety, but I do.

Oh c'mon. Use some common sense here. There's no risk to your safety from someone vaping on a nearby balcony. And again I say this as the guy who doesn't hesitate to call security in a nanosecond if anyone near me is smoking.

Unless you see the person definitely smoking, it's hard to see where the smoke is coming from. I thought I saw a person on a lower deck vaping on their deck, but I wasn't 100% sure and I didn't want to report someone who was innocent. I definitely would have if I was positive.

I'm obviously hardcore about this, but I don't think I'd report someone for vaping outside. It is vapor, and while indoors it might have a brief odor outside it's practically undetectable. You'll notice you thought you saw someone vaping - not that you smelled anything. Smoke from anything combustible (weed or tobacco) is totally different. The smell can overpower you.

  5. PCC's literally can't do anything for you in terms of price/amenities than you can't do yourself booking via the website. Nothing. Nada. Bupkiss. If you want to talk to a human being, at least call a travel agent that will likely be able to wrangle some perks in addition to whatever NCL offers directly.

NCL could switch the buffet to snacks between 9:30 and 11pm. Things like ice cream, pizza, cake or my favorite crepes. Those wanting something more substantial could head to O’Sheehans.

That's what they used to do. Pizza, hot dogs, maybe a leftover dish or two from dinner, some cakes and cookies, etc. It was really great.

Only thing is that Vibe is so high up that you can't hear the waves....

Fine...the sea breezes then. Most of the music NCL pumps into public spaces is anodyne mass market mediocrity. I'd prefer the quiet.

Yeah, agreed.  However, I'd be happy with something as universal (and fitting) as yacht rock. That's as non-offensive and generic as you can be, but still establishes a 'sense of place' around the bar....but NCL doesn't even provide soft music around their Waterfront bars either.  Oh well...as least I have the drink plan....bottoms up!

I hate being forced to listen to someone else's music. Bring some earbuds if you want tunes. I bet a lot of passengers enjoy just the sound of the ocean waves.

I’m doing a B2B on the Joy leaving NY on September 4 and returning from Quebec City on September 13. I booked Vibe for the first cruise but not the second leg. I think the weather should be ok that early in September with the exception of Corner Brook (they have outdoor skating rinks open in July).

Do you have an inside cabin? If I've got a balcony I can't see a decent recent to book Vibe on a September Canadian itinerary.
