  1. @exlandlubber It is an excellent suggestion. We went a couple of times when we lived in Madrid and were very pleasantly surprised by the food - so often "dinner and show" events are disappointing, not the case here! Please don't worry about the taxis. Your hotel will instruct the driver, you can always have the address written down and hand it to the driver too. And a "gracias" goes a long way 🙂 You can hail a licensed taxi on the street - if the green light on top of the taxi is lit then the taxi is available. Enjoy your time in Spain!
  2. @exlandlubber Also, bear in mind for the days that you are organising your own dinner, many restaurants won't take reservations much before 9.00 pm ... they eat LATE in Madrid.
  3. @exlandlubber We would often take visitors to Segovia and El Escorial on a day trip and they would always enjoy it. The aquaduct in Segovia is incredible. I hope you get lamb for your lunch while you're there, it's the local speciality. El Escorial is an incredible place. Many Spanish monarchs are entombed there. Lots of history. Toledo is a proper medieval town. Good place to buy a sword, if that's your kind of thing 😉 Might be tricky to get in the hand luggage though ...
  4. I can’t comment on Regent’s specific tour but, as someone who lived in Madrid for 3 years, that looks a great itinerary. Don’t really know Zaragoza but it looks like quite a bit of walking involved on days 3 and 4.
  5. @difranco Now I'm genuinely confused. What is "the charity shop look"?!
  6. I think what you are describing is a pain au raisin? A European type of pastry. But I could be wrong, as I've not seen the ones on board personally. As a Brit, I don't even know what a Carmel roll is!! And I suspect a sticky bun is also something different over here 🙂
  7. @welshfamily I can highly recommend Leftovercurrency dot com to exchange multiple current and/or obsolete currency. I've used them several times for fundraising activities.
  8. Depending on your itinerary you may find you visit some French/Euro islands in the Caribbean - St Barts, Guadeloupe, Martinique all use the Euro.
  9. @Zqueeze1 I am truly loving your descriptions and your humour, bringing a smile to my face every time I open this thread 🙂 As a small point of info, the birds you saw yesterday are swans, with baby cygnets. But now I'm wondering whether that was your humour and you really know that ... Either way, looks like you are having a great time and that you were wonderfully treated on your anniversary - many congratulations!
  10. We chose this itinerary specifically because of the lack of sea days sailing into/out of Miami would incur. I guess this is where we are all different. Direct flights from LHR to BGI tie in perfectly: flight lands at 3.00 pm the day prior to the cruise starting and departs 5.40 pm the day we disembark. Although we only get economy flights included ...
  11. We booked this cruise a few months ago. All the documentation that I have been sent so far shows "Hotel - to be advised by Regent" If they are going to change this we need to know as soon as possible. I know that hotel availability in Barbados is limited as we were looking at the possibility of extending our holiday for a couple of days post-cruise but the cost/availability of this is pretty much making it a non starter. As an aside, is the BC flight included for all suite categories from the US (when flying "across the ocean")? I ask as we are in a Concierge Suite for this cruise, flying from the UK (which is definitely across an ocean!) but only have standard economy flights included.
  12. Thanks for your most helpful answers. One less thing to overthink about!
  13. Thank you both for your prompt responses!
  14. I have searched the Forum but can't find an answer to this question so forgive me if it has been asked before. We are new to Regent and not sure of the excursion protocol. Is the time listed on a booked excursion the time you are called, the time you have to be at a meeting place on board, or the time you need to be at a meeting place on shore? If it's of relevance, we will be in the Caribbean February/March 2024. In addition, one or two of the excursions require you to bring a towel - is it ok to take a ship's towel or should I pack my own beach towel? Your advice would be much appreciated.
