  1. This is fun thread, and some of the items don't seem odd but handy tips to me!
  2. I'd be hesitant about a totally forward deluxe balcony, concerned about movement - but I would *understand* as it would be an upgrade (rather than the downgrade as you stated). I may have asked if it was possible to go back to what we had booked, but I'd totally understand if they weren't able to do it. [odd this post has to be approved by a moderator for reasons I don't know!]
  3. That was my thought as well. My sister in law made the booking, we thought we had a guaranteed category (as reflected in our booking confirmation). I knew we didn't have the *exact* stateroom booked, but definitely expected an assignment within our agreed and payed for category.
  4. I've seen a few people say that they like the aft! Good to know for future as it's a lower price category than the one we booked in at. Of course, they've since moved us (and billed us after guest services denied the initial offer for the free upgrade) to a mini suite, so we're trying to get out of that now. I was concerned about ship movement and long walks on such a big ship, which is why I booked mid ship, but with the knowledge I have *now* I might have considered staying in the afk stateroom but with the expectation of a bit of compensation (i.e. the price difference in the category and maybe some OBC or something), but they weren't offering anything at all.
  5. Interesting... although I would not think a stateroom ten cabins away from the very back of the ship is "comparable" to mid-ship. I will certainly never book a cruise again (on ANY cruiseline) without a guarantee of a specific cabin!
  6. I think @PescadoAmarillo is correct. Edwina tried to tell me that they can put you *anywhere* on the ship, which is a garbage reply as they DO charge you higher prices for the better "guaranteed" categories. Perhaps that was a breakdown in communication and she meant or didn't realize that it meant they could put you in any category you book or HIGHER (at the same price you initially booked at). From what I've seen in another thread here, it's possible to book and request no upgrades though. In our situation they booked us into a LOWER category stateroom, and thus began our saga!
  7. I have lost count of how many people who have told me they can't do anything for us!
  8. He estimated 45 minutes for his call back. This was about 2 hours prior to the office closing. Of course the time came and went and no call back, not even to apologize and say he simply needed more time, which I could understand - I just need some assurance right now! I'll see what tomorrow brings. (note I'm posting a lot of updates just to keep them sorted and straight for myself as well - these calls and days and hours are starting to blur in my own mind at this point, and if I have to start emailing corporate or something it's good to have it all written down). Thanks for indulging me folks!
  9. Got a call back from George's supervisor, Edwina. She made some calls and said she'd have George call me back. I did end up getting a call back from Daniel and he's making all the right noises and promised another call back, which I'm waiting on. I haven't given up hope entirely just yet, though my faith is still shaken pretty hard.
  10. We booked on May 6th, and I noticed they had assigned us a stateroom last week. Unfortunately it was assigned in the wrong section and I'm still trying to sort out the mess "Lee" made while trying to fix it for us now. On the other hand, my sister in law (who made the bookings for us at the same time as hers), got assigned to the correct spot, so YMMV. Our sailing date is October 24, 2023.
  11. After four days and still no email I called our CVP again. He's been unable to help - he can move us to an obstructed balcony mid ship, but charge us about 2k more than our originally agreed upon price, which is a really expensive upgrade (our current bill for the mini suite they booked us into costs less than that!), but he has no authority to change back to our original price. I got him to put me to his supervisor and she's "making calls" and they will get back to me..........
  12. Thanks so much - not a lot there but 20% off liquor for our duty free might be worth something... or the free portrait if we don't do a photo package!
  13. Oh, good call. I'm extremely non-active on there but I do have an account....
  14. Oops - I thought I had quoted your post and the one above it from Damiross with the four email addresses but I guess it didn't work. Thanks for your help, I have a feeling at least one of these people will be hearing from me soon!
  15. We had already authorized Princess to charge our final payment on the final due date. Of course, we expected the final charge to be what we agreed to on our booking. But if we don't get this resolved before then I would expect that they would charge us for the mini suite they currently have us booked in - this is my fear. If they move us back to the original mid ship balcony we had requested then we would probably get a refund. Whether that refund reflects the originally agreed upon price or not is anyone's guess. Obviously it should - but I'm not confident it will.
  16. Is this list in order of seniority? i.e. should I start with the first name on the list and then work my way down if the first contact isn't able to help me with my own issue?
  17. Breakfast and lunch are also served in the main dining rooms, and then there's Alfredo's, the International Cafe and the poolside grill (as far as I can tell, I don't sail Princess until the end of October, I'm just gleaning from the boards here and the Princess site).
  18. There are non alcohol drink packages available as well: Zero Alcohol Package Enjoy premium and specialty coffees and teas along with sodas, fresh juices and healthy smoothies (juice bar), hot chocolate, "zero-proof" mocktails, bottled water, San Pellegrino, Evian and Red Bull Energy Drinks througout your entire cruise with this zero-alcohol beverage package. The Zero-Alcohol Drink Package is $29.99 USD* per person, per day. Classic Soda Package This package includes all sodas, fruit juices, mocktails and smoothies. The Classic Soda Package is $14.99 USD* per person, per day There is 18% gratuity on top of those, and you don't get wifi, so you have to weigh the pros and cons of each option... there's also the ala carte option. But Plus seems kind of expensive if you don't drink alcohol.
  19. Thanks! I've had it for today - and have a bunch of things to do right now - but I will definitely take your advice and call the planner, there is NO way I shouldn't be guaranteed the originally booked price at the very least right now. It may be a couple of days before I get a big enough block of time to do this (these calls are always extremely lengthy), but I will definitely do it!
  20. To be fair, I think I understand how it works now - they probably book X number of bookings into the category with enough cabins to cover the commitment, but they're all "waitlisted" for when they assign them in August. What I don't understand is why my sister in law was assigned a (properly located) cabin in the meantime, while we were assigned the wrong category cabin ourselves. This threw us for a loop and in trying to fix it, we're in a worse off spot now, and while I believe we will eventually get a cabin in the category we chose, I can only take their word for it. I do NOT understand why we can't be placed back into the price point we contracted at right now though, and I am nervous as to whether or not that will ever happen, but I have no way of knowing at this time.
  21. We're good having them select the cabin for us - within our guaranteed booking location. I'd rather be a different mid-level floor but still mid ship than put in the back. I'm reading from some of the replies here that aft isn't that bad, but on principle the very least they should do is refund the difference in price (aft is a lower category price than mid ship), even if it's not that much, and maybe throw in an apology dinner or OBC or something. But it does look like we will be getting that cabin as promised come mid-August - or so they say, they've assured us and I'm *reasonably* confident, but not 100% so. It will be in a location of their choosing, but at least it will be in our promised category. My only concern now is if the price changes. Time will tell.
  22. our code was BA, mid ship, mid level. R702 is definitely aft, lower category. We would prefer not to cancel entirely as we are booked to go with my sister in law, we just want what we contracted for at the price we contracted for. Time will tell if we get it.
