  1. I went with North Star this past July. Did the two-hour trek (two hrs on the glacier itself, 4.25 hrs total tour time) which doesn't have the rope climbing although we did do some short climbs with the ice pick and heel techniques. Their extended trek (5.25 hrs total tour time) has rope climbing down a longer/steeper slope if that's what you're interested in.
  2. According to the FAQs on one of the excursion websites: "There are a limited amount of trails that guides are allowed to commercially guide on in the Ketchikan area. Deer Mountain and Dude Mountain are regulated by the Tongass National Forest; and commercially guided hikes on these trails are not allowed." So your options on guided hikes are limited. I'm doing a rainforest one with Tongass Teague so this isn't a recommendation for them as rainforest hikes aren't what you want and I haven't gone yet to say it's a good tour, but you can reach out and see if they can customize something for you from the allowed hike areas.
  3. Startedwithamouse is correct. The 11:30 am is a bus/train combination. It's a long travel day to Vancouver WA but it means not staying an extra night in Vancouver BC.
