Were you my neighbor? I took almost the same shot from room 6234 at 5:49 pm! I actually asked him if he was on the Panorama last Nov and he told me it was Marty who was from his hometown also and sounded similar!

Wow, your pic is even better but still does not do justice to experiencing it, probably the most spectacular sunset I have ever seen. We were in 4228, a Vista suite on the aft corner. One of the best cabins Carnival has to offer, glad we got to experience it one more time.

I had him on the Miracle also Nov 2nd and he was a good guy. Normally I don't even really care one way or another but you are right. He is down to earth and doesn't do silly things with his announcements. I asked him if he would be there for my January Miracle trip to Hawaii but he said he was moving to the Celebration.

I was on the November 2nd cruise also, how about that sunset in Cabo? Like you I am not that into the cruise director but Louis really impressed me, same with Marty who used to be on the Panorama. Now they have someone promoted directly from the fun squad on Panorama, to say he is not ready for prime time is being kind. Chao for now, 100 times a day, worst catch phrase ever!

As of today, Friday the 17th, the Panorama is still parked in Astoria, OR.  :No news on how the ship will get under the bridge yet.  Crew members are welcomed in town and out and about.  Latest news from local paper is that the Ship will be here until Dec. 4th.  Not saying this is factual.  then on to Portland, OR for repairs.  Saw the Ship twice today, great view, weather beautiful to view Ship.

This is good news, thanks! If you could keep us updated on what you actually see happening with the ship that would be great. If you see a large crane lifting the whale tail off the ship let us know, that would be great news! I am booked on the the NYE cruise and a schedule from Columbia River Pilots was posted on our Facebook page today. It says the ship is moving up river on Monday which sounds great but if you scroll down it says it is not sailing out until December 31st, yikes! Both are estimates but it is causing stress in the group. Happy to hear the crew is out and about enjoying their time off. They are wonderful and thank you for welcoming the Panorama and crew.

  4. My fingers and toes are crossed too! We are on the NYE cruise to celebrate hubby’s 70th which is NYE. It’s been planned for well over a year and four couples are joining us. We are all in the Havana area and we have the aft wrap on the 6th deck. It’s an 8 day and we are all looking forward to visiting LaPaz too. I just informed the group and we are going to stay optimistic, no other choice. If it doesn’t happen then it wasn’t meant to be after all, something better must be around the corner, staying positive no matter what!

Same question here @LaRue1975 I'm leaving Sunday and plan on figuring this out!

Go to the cage, I have told them I want it so my hubby and I can play on the same account and that I want to play two machines at once. It is probably be better to stick with the truth, one look at my play and they would know I don’t play two machines. They didn’t seem to care either way so I would definitely ask, the worst that could happen is they say no. Like the host did, lol!

would you get that from a host or at the cage?

For me definitely the cage. I had read that you could do it but forgot the person said they got the extra card from the cage and asked the host, she seemed confused why I would want two cards and she would have to check. She went in the back and came back with a hard no. The next cruise I asked at the cage, got one no problem and have done on three cruises so far. We are definitely not high rollers but I have been able to book several “free” balcony cruises with drinks everywhere for me.

Hmmm this is intriguing. So, you use the same account for all slot play but, individual ones for tables?

Yes, we have done this two or three times now. You have to wait for one of the tech employees to make the card which is a blank white card. I play slots a lot more than my hubby and I get good casino offers so we always use my account. Next up is our NYE cruise to celebrate his 70th birthday so I think we’ll get a card for his account and I’ll try to get him an offer too. I have way too many “free” cruises booked now to maintain my level of play anyway.

  8. We have done this but don’t ask the host, go to the casino cage and ask there. When we asked the host she was surprised by the question, checked with someone in the back and said no. When I tried again on the next cruise I asked at the cage and they made a blank card for my hubby to use with all my account information on it. This works for the slots, when he played table games he used his Sail & Sign card. We’ve played on the same card in all the casinos in Vegas for years with no issues, it’s a bit of a hassle on a Carnival ship but can be done.

I truly don’t know.  Maybe it’s less likely on sailings with super calm water and winds so the ship doesn’t “overheat”. That’s my non-mechanically inclined brain ideology.

We have her booked for January.  We did the Vista last January and I recall a lot posts here and there about propulsion issues leading up to our sailing.  There seemed to be no determining factor for the issue on your own cruise, either good luck or bad. We had good luck.  Fingers crossed!

We are on the Miracle and passed the Panorama on Friday and yesterday as we were heading in the opposite direction. The seas have been exceptionally calm with little wind so I don’t think that was a factor.

  10. On the Miracle now  just pulling into Ensenada. We passed the Panorama heading North on Friday and again yesterday heading South about midway between Cabo and Long Beach. It is sad to hear it’s happening again, we’re on the NYE cruise with 4 other couples to celebrate hubby’s 70th birthday. We should be ok but hopefully they get it fixed quickly and don’t have to cancel any cruises.

  11. We had two excellent experiences with JiJI’s on the Vista and Panorama but on our Panorama cruise two weeks ago with a group of 7 it was very disappointing. One person has a shellfish food allergy and was able to order an appetizer, entree and dessert. The remaining 6 in our party had to choose three appetizers and three entrees to share and we could each order our own dessert. It was just a mess of a dining experience all around and we are not picky or demanding. It could have been an off night with perhaps a new crew, hubby ordered a drink when the first server approached and got a deer in headlights response. The food was decent but not up to the standards set by out first two experiences.

  12. Not all all, it is common practice. Each person sets up their own account for the Sail & Sign card when you check in two weeks prior. After you board go to guest services and get an extra room key card for both rooms. I would do that first before the line gets long as it always does the first day. I just did this last week on the Panorama, we booked my hubby into my friend’s room because she was by herself and had drinks everywhere for her and a companion. My offer had the drinks but only for me. Hubby just put the extra card on his lanyard and he was good to go.

  13. We were docked around 7 AM this morning and carry off started debarking at 8. We are Platinum and were supposed to wait until 10 to get off but left around 9:30 and a lot of the luggage in our group was already picked up. Next time we will get off 9. This was the 6 day so we were in Ensenada yesterday which is a short distance from Long Beach. The 7 day is a little more prone to delay as they have to come all they way up the Baja coast on the one sea day. Traffic was not bad this morning either, it’s usually much worse on the week days. The Panorama is our favorite ship, enjoy!

See you on the ship!  So excited to try something new - never cruised from NYC so that will be exciting.

That’s why I chose it too, sailing down the Hudson River past the Statue Of Liberty with the Manhattan skyline behind us, bucket list item for sure. The best part is you don’t have to go back to New York, lol! You will debark close to home, even better, we still have to fly across the country. A couple of the ports will be new for us too, really looking forward to it!

So we booked an Elite cruise on the Venezia.  It’s a 12 night Journey’s cruise, sailing in December 2024 from NYC to the Southern Caribbean, ending in Port Canaveral.

I’m booked on that cruise, not Elite but I did get a free balcony and DOUE. I will never be Elite but I was on an Elite cruise last April on the Vista and had a blast in the casino. It was not over crowded and there was a super fun and friendly group of gamblers. I am happy hear this will be an Elite cruise too, see you there!

If you are going to be parking a car, last month there was no parking available at the terminal for our cruise. They were handing people a map to somewhere and to take a shuttle back, although you could drop luggage off.

Other than Queen Mary, not sure how close anything else would be for food.

This is only for the Miracle passengers, if you’re sailing on the Radiance or Panorama you park in the terminal garage. They only have enough parking for two ships so the Miracle passengers park off site and use the shuttles Carnival provides. I was on the same cruise, it worked great for embarkation but was a mess when we returned. If you are on the Miracle be sure to take your luggage with you on the shuttle to the garage so you don’t have to come back to the terminal. I think the problem was it was a 14 day to Alaska and there was a lot of luggage that needed to be picked up at the same time the following cruise was dropping off theirs.

Long Beach Marathon takes place that weekend. Lots of road closures and traffic diversions.

That is going to affect the Panorama that departs on Sunday. I’ll be on that one too and they have delayed the arrival times with the first appointment at 11:30 instead of 10:00. We do park in the garage though and the race is supposed to clear the port area by 9:30 AM so hopefully it won’t be a big issue. Cruising out of Long Beach has been an adventure lately!

How did you find out? It sucks to drop your bags off and then take the bus. I'm going straight to the Convention Center if they do that to me on the Panorama.

You will park in the terminal garage, only the Miracle passengers have to park offsite. There is plenty of room in the garage for two ships but not the third.

  19. The parking is diverted to an offsite garage for all the Miracle sailings. We were on the the 14 day to Alaska last month and were supposed to park at the Convention Center but got an e-mail a couple of weeks prior that we would be parking in a garage in a different area of downtown Long Beach. The garage was fine and not in a bad area. We were instructed to drop off our luggage at the port and then park in the garage and ride a Carnival shuttle back to the port. We got there early and everything ran smooth but it was awful on the return.

When you return take your luggage with you on the shuttle to the parking garage, DO NOT ride the shuttle to get the car and come back to the port for your luggage. I just presumed that was what we were supposed to do and it was a huge mistake. It was chaos in the pick up/drop off area and it took our husbands two hours to ride the shuttle, get the truck and get back to the terminal. The traffic was backed up all the way across the bridge from Long Beach. We were traveling with another couple and had a lot of luggage but my hubby said some people on the bus had their luggage with them. They also waited 30 minutes on the bus before it filled and headed to the parking garage. We will be on the Miracle again in November and will definitely be taking our luggage on the bus when we get off. It’s a 5 day to Mexico so I can pack light, lol!

They are still going with Cabo last on the 8 day so it's a no go for me. Leaving Cabo at 2:30 pm is ridiculous. Cabo used to be first with a much more reasonable 11 am to 7 pm schedule.

I am happy now I booked the 8 day for March 2025, it goes to Cabo first for a full day. We are doing that itinerary for NYE this year and we have a couple of the 6 days booked too. We love the Panorama and Cabo is our favorite port on the Mexican Riviera. The weekend departures are definitely better traffic wise too, we live just North of Los Angeles.
