Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. I have been fortunate that my last few cruises have been on the Valor and Glory which are Conquest class, and yes, their Sauna and Steam layout is great. Both rooms are fairly large with windows overlooking the sea. Very relaxing. It has me spoiled so that i always prefer a ship with both steam and sauna available in the Men's locker room.
  2. Was it worth it? I might be going on Jade in the future. Do you need the thermal pass to use the men's sauna and steam?
  3. My wife and I were considering visiting a clothing optional beach around Cancun area. I was considering Desire. We are more interested in relaxing nude on the beach or skinny dipping, but not participating in any "extra-curricular activities". Would Desire still be a good choice for us? We're not bothered by the lifestyle activities there, but we wouldn't wanted to be pressured to join in.
  4. Many cruise ships have saunas and steam rooms connected to the locker room areas. That is always an option if you want to sit and relax in the buff. (But don't forget your towel, though.)
  5. Makes me wonder if there any cruise ships that allow for more "European style" sauna (just a towel, no swimsuits) in mixed sex areas? Serious sauna users know that wearing swimsuits in a sauna/steam room is not the best hygienic/therapeutic option. As long as you're minding your manners and not flashing the ladies, why would it matter if you are covered in a towel only? It seems that enforcing a suit requirement might be more invasive than not. I mean what are they going to do, walk around asking for men to open their towels to prove they have a suit on? Anyway, just wondering if any cruise lines had a more traditional sauna attitudes.
  6. When having a couples massage, is the couple prohibited from any intimate/romantic activity with each other in the massage room? I have never had a couples massage with my wife on a cruise. I wasn't sure what to expect. If it is nothing more than the two of us having a massage at the same time then would it be more cost effective to book separate single massages? I would want a more deep tissue massage but my wife would prefer a lighter touch. Thanks
  7. My wife and i may have an opportunity to sail on Jade later this year. I think I want to get the thermal pass for the week. The facilities look amazing from the pics and video i have seen. I was wondering if the fee is worth it. Anyone have any experience on the Jade? I do enjoy relaxing in the saunas or steam rooms whenever we cruise. It seems the facilities are segregated by sex. That tends to be a good thing. It's not that i object to co-ed facilities; it's just the usual restrictions they place on the co-ed saunas make them less comfortable. I wouldn't want to pay extra for a sauna that is less than ideal.
  8. I saw the pictures of the men's spa area on the Venezia. Looks very nice. Sauna has a window to the sea which i prefer. Too bad there isn't a steam room, but i guess the whirlpool sorta makes up for it. Curious, Is there a swimsuit requirement for the whirlpool?
  9. I'm a bit of both, myself. I like the peaceful, quiet mood, but a little light conversation can help someone new feel at ease.
  10. I'm not sure if this is off-topic too much, but I had a general question for those men who enjoy cruise ship saunas. Regarding the social atmosphere in the sauna, do you prefer it to be very quiet and peaceful with very little or no talking, or do you enjoy conversations and camaraderie with other gents, or perhaps something in between?
  11. I was similarly wondering about the sauna/steam situation on Adventure. We might be considering it soon. I saw that it had a sauna and steam room in both changing areas. But I had no other details. How large are they? Do they have windows to the outside? Are there showers close by? Thanks
  12. I've sailed on Valor several times and also on Glory which has the same layout. The men's changing room has both a sauna and a steam room. Both are fairly large with plenty of seating and have windows with a nice view of the sea. Most of the times I've used them they were not very busy - so never too crowded. It's always been a pleasant experience.
  13. I get up very early and walk around on deck. On port days, I get to watch the ship approach the pier and maneuver. I hit the gym early and finish off with some time in the sauna and/or steam room (if there are ones available connected to the men's locker rooms.)
  14. Does it cost extra to use the men's sauna on Equinox?
  15. My wife and I are considering Celebrity Equinox. Does anyone know if that has complimentary sauna/steam room? And are they co-ed or single-sex?
