A percentage of reservations are set aside for cruisers that wish to make reservations in person on the ship. If the app tells you that there are no slots available, don't worry. We'll be upgrading on board to Premier using OBC and will inquire about reservations as soon as we board before we even go to lunch.

Thanks for the update. Looks to be different than the other menu that the rest of the fleet is using that has 2 smoothies and I think five or six fruit or fruit/veggie combos.

Because of the new three MDR option on the Sun, they are following new rules as opposed to the rest of the fleet. It shouldn't be too much longer till post June 1 sailings are open for MDR bookings.

That would make sense but what doesn't make sense is that you mentioned the food on deck 8 was the same and on a previous live the American Diner menu was posted and cruisers were making mention of the great banana split dessert.

Since we only imbibe while on vacation, over 80% of the weeks over the course of a year we go without consuming alcohol. That gives our livers a chance to chill until our next cruise 7-8 weeks later.

Yea, I fully agree. Probably just a vocal minority of old time cruisers that want things the way it used to be back in the day before Dine My Way came into play. Even if they did accept some walk-ins that were an overflow from deck 7, they should have to be hustled out by the time late seating began since the seats they are in are already supposed to be occupied by someone else for the second seating.

So in fact they are blowing smoke since deck six was supposed to be 100% traditional dining at 500 & 730.

Don't know how this could work. First of all, deck 8 is American Diner with it's own special menu. Deck six consists of two seatings, currently set at 500 and 730 which could be shifted once the ship relocates to the Caribbean. If you show up at 630 on deck six, there aren't going to seat you until 730 unless they are just blowing smoke about it being traditional seating. Deck seven is Dine My Way, consisting of a combination of reservations as well as walk in. If you're doing walk in, expect a wait, unless you show up before six or after eight and even then there could be a wait depending how the flow is on that day.

I will infer that the long lines for deck 7 seating is going to be in the 645-745 heart of dining where many people like to eat. If you choose standard on deck six or make reservations either early or late for deck seven, the long line should be avoided. If you have to eat in the middle between 645-745 I would inquire right before final payment is due and then you can decide if it's a deal breaker or not. We have a permanent appointment for 540 on our upcoming 14 day Enchanted cruise. At this time we just walk in and go right to our table.

Expect fog at sometime over the course of the cruise as well. If it's bad enough, it could eliminate a port stop if the ship can't safely dock.

Yes, the various Royal Class ships are very similar with the exception of the Majestic that was originally built for the Asian market. We are also on the repo cruise. If you haven't done so already, hop on the roll call.
