  1. This brought back pleasant memories of the signs in the MRT that said “No Durian Allowed”. Durian is a common fruit in Singapore and quite possibly the most disgusting thing you will ever smell in your life. I have been told by locals that families have been broken up by members who insisted on bringing durian home. Please consider trying durian just so you can have bragging rights. But take a very small bite, as I was warned to do on my first trip to Singapore. I was on a subsequent trip to Singapore with my boss and bought some for him who, being the foodie that he is, took a big bite. The pictures we have of the scrunched up look on his face are priceless. We were in public so he could not just spit it out. You can get durian at grocery stores in the produce section and in the outdoor markets. Ah, the memories…
  2. How strange. You would think they would want the revenue from selling alcoholic beverages as happens with (all?) other cruise lines. Not to mention making passengers happy. Do you have any idea what their reasoning was?
  3. Based on the myriad positive reviews on their section of the Cruise Critic board, Crystal Cruises is as good as it used to be.
  4. Hmmm…. A mystery. Maybe it was Jacob Marley taking his annual cruise before getting down to his Christmas responsibilities. Sorry.
  5. It is really surprising to hear that there is a cruise line that will not allow drinking in the show lounge. Would you mind hearing which particular line this was?
  6. To echo what Vallesan said, you should have your TA contact Oceania and request a refund of the price differential. It doesn’t always work, but a good TA can often work magic, especially if they are an Oceania frequent flyer.
  7. We also recently had the experience of a cancelled Greece cruise on Crystal. This and other cancellations and changed ports across cruise lines has made us tired of the unreliability. So for the foreseeable future we have decided to focus more on land-based trips.
