  1. We sail in 4 weeks so normally we wouldn't be worried about our medallions coming in time but we are leaving home a week before the sailing.  If they're late and we have already left home we won't have them to board and they won't be waiting for us at the port since they will think we already got them?
Hopefully they will come in the week before we leave.  Alternatively, we could cancel them and thus have a better chance they will be waiting for us at the port.
    What to do...what to do?

Rather than ghosting OP, Princess could have offered one of the usual M&G venues along with a capacity limit - let’s say 100.  Then the first 100 people who confirmed they would attend would be invited. Problem solved, without so much angst and hurt feelings.

I am not sure the OP had an actual headcount....just the 450 that were part of the whole group?

There is a well know YouTube cruise blogger who has sailed mainly Princess, is 'invited' on Princess cruises, and even SHE has posted very similar concerns.

I don't know what is going on with this.

But, yet again... as in many other issues, and cutbacks and problems going all the way up to Corporate...  We ARE talking about Princess.  : (

    What does that mean?
I have a M&G planned for our sailing next month.  I was given a good venue (Universe theater), and offered help with invites for the captain and crew.  They may charge for the microphone (which I think is silly) but in reality, I don't believe I was ever charged for it.

Where on a NCL ship did they host 450 people.  This seems like way larger than Ang meet and greets I have heard of. Exactly what location and time were you expecting ?  Were you wanting them to cancel Bingo or trivia for your one group ?

Which they will not..they will move the group to another venue....had this happen before.

  5. I had a cruise booked with my adult daughter.  I had Princess Platinum Insurance and she had a policy purchased from Insure my trip. She had a gallbladder issue and her doc said she couldn't sail.  She ended up with surgery on the day we were to sail.  We were both covered and booked another cruise when she was well enough to sail. Of course our insurance fee was not returned.

If the Sanctuary is only open to those who book those rooms, I wouldn't think there would be that much of a crowd running to reserve a spot?

Right!  They're already "in".  I asked because I thought it was already the way it was, didn't know they were waiting to implement it.
What are the other changes that will come in October?

Totally agree. I guess we'll have to wait and see how things play out. I guess this new Sanctuary system doesn't go live until next month, I'd be interested to hear from people who have booked the same rooms about their experiences.

Our only dilemma will be is how to decide where we want to eat each night, given that we can do unlimited specialty dining along with their exclusive, private restaurant for Sanctuary guests...

What do you mean the the "new Sanctuary system" is not until next month? Are you saying there is not one in place now or that they are implementing it shortly?  Details please.

Cannot comment on Celebrity. We were up until last year regulars with P&O, but due to a far less than satisfactory cruise on Ventura last year I am shortly going on Sky Princess. Sadly our days of cruises more than 14 nights may be over after this one. So all being well we will make the most of this one which is 31 nights Canada and New England. Many have or are commenting on loyalty to a cruise line and whilst I don't want to change the discussion on whether Celebrity or Princess it really bring home to me the need for cruise lines to maintain standards because whether you are like myself of the older generation or a young cruiser starting out either with your boyfriend/girlfriend/friend or as a family it doesn't take much to either extol the virtues or put down a cruise line. Of course there are some who stay loyal whatever.

We have mostly been loyal to Princess since 2010, but have, in the meanwhile, sailed on MSC, NCL, Royal, Cunard as well as Princess. We still think Princess "fits" us the best at this point in time.  We like the ships and crew, and we think the itineraries are the most interesting especially for the money.

I wouldn't know about Celebrity, but we did enjoy most of the MDR and buffet food on Reflection... Some of it was excellent. Especially escargot - couldn't get enough!

     🙂

But when I compare 2024 Enchanted food to 2022 Enchanted food and pre-covid Princess food, I can tell that it's gotten a lot more boring and basic.

I am totally fine with hotel banquet food. But beans with a steak, Princess? Seriously? I am not picky, but even I was side eyeing this masterpiece:

in what book is this a good choice? I'll take fries or mashed potatoes or broccoli or a veggie medley instead of this canned response.

I bet you could have asked for some other sides.

Our last Celebrity cruise was disappointing in food and service. I still look at the itineraries and prices that Celebrity offers, but I have not found any bargains tempting enough to get me to try one again.

Agree. Although I have only been on Celebrity once and was told that I was going to "love it"...  While there was nothing that was bad per se, there was nothing that bowled me over.  It was meh compared to Princess.
We may try it again but as you said there just has not been anything that tempted us to sail on them at this time.

We will be cruising on the Sun Princess when Oct 1 debate is held.

Can we expect the debate to be televised?  If so live or any day after.

    Thanks,

We're cruising on Election Day...hoping our absentee ballots will be available before we sail. 🤞

I did forget to mention ....and not for nuthin. but.....

the budget rental  staff at the airport itself leaves a lot to be desired!   our last 3 rentals there ...returning  AFTER  a cruise to our home on the Florida west coast from FLL ....have been absurdly frustrating...we could not use the cruise port office due to our early disembarkation and cruise port office was closed.

I compare those experiences at FLL airport to my most recent colonostopy.

I guess I didn't know or forgot that there is a Budget at the port.  When we sail out of FLL for a TA we usually rent a car to drive down to port from St. Augustine, drop it off at the airport and take the shuttle.  It will be easier to drop at the port IF we rent from Budget next time when we're sailing on the Sun.  Thanks for the info.

We are sailing on a 21 day (3 - 7 day segments) so I would imagine the turnaround days would be the most ideal days to do laundry.

You would think so especially if you threw your wash in before you had to vacate the ship.
But one time we boarded a Princess ship after being on a weeklong QM2 sailing and tried to do some laundry on "turn around day" but had to check out 3 decks to find a laundry room with availability.

Sky Princess has at least 3 washers and 3 dryers in each and, if I’m remembering correctly, has 2 laundry rooms per floor. For half the number of guests than the Sun Princess.

I have never seen more than one laundry room per deck.  But they sure should have more than 2 of each type of machines per deck.
