19 Crimes is my husband's wine of choice. He like the one aged in rum barrels best. I prefer whites.

Hubby found a new (to him) favorite last month on the Sky. It's Errazuris Estate Carmenere Aconcagua Valley, Chile, GIs. We don't even know how to pronounce it, but he consumed quite a few.

If I can find it I would like to try the the one aged in rum barrels....that sounds interesting to me.
Also we have found a nice red wine called Cooper and Thief that is aged for 3 months in Bourbon barrels. (not on the ship however)

I'm rather confused that everyone is stating that the wines on the Plus package aren't very good. I came across a 2024 wine list for Princess and the selection of wines isn't too shabby. Unless they have a different wine list for the Plus package, I don't think I'll have any problems finding a decent glass of wine. I've also searched our state run alcohol outlets here in Montreal for some of the wines on that list and the prices displayed aren't exactly your grocery type ones. But our cruise is 3 months off so I can try those on the list that are sold here. BTW not a wine snob but I make my own cabernet sauvignon.

They do have a dedicated wine list for Plus and that will most likely be the one they show you when they know you have it. But you just ask for the regular wine list and tell them you will pay the difference if you want to choose a higher priced wine.

What's the price in dollars and are Publix to be found in most places ?

There are many varieties of 19 Crimes....all seem to be below $20US with the priciest the Snoop Dog variety.
Publix are in Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.

Don't know if this wine get's to the US. But I really like a red called 19 crimes imported from Australia. I am also partial to Chateaux neuf de pape from France , but that comes in over double the price of 19 crimes which can vary from around £7.50 to £9 a bottle with the Chateaux at around £20-£25 a bottle. Will be disappointed if you can't get a decent glass of vino collapso onboard for $15. First time virgin for the Plus package as we normally go P&O and have never had a package deal before.

We do have 19 Crimes in the US.

I find it strange that Princess, who has traditionally played up a linkage to Italian food, wine and culture, does not offer a single Italian white or red wine by the glass on either the Plus or Premium list. Hard to believe they can't find an inexpensive chianti or sangiovese to offer.

They do? Never got that impression of a linkage to Italian food, wine and culture? Perhaps dining in Sabatini's?  Hmmm..

Does anyone know if PCL has actually reduced the size of WBTG in ounces?  Should be (ideally) 4 glasses per bottle for approx 6oz glass.  I imagine Princess was doing 5x 5oz pours (150ml).  Doing 4oz pours is terrible - never seen any restaurant be that chintzy.

    I have!  LOL

I read on a different thread that the bed has a hard side & a soft side so it can be flipped over if you don't care for the side it is currently on.  I've never had an issue with the beds so I can't speak from experience.  I think you can also ask for a topper if you find it's too hard.

I think the beds are VERY comfortable! The only one better is ours at home!

Why were you surprised it had a shower curtain? Every Princess ship, except the brand new Sun, which is a whole new class, has shower curtains. It's one of the main reasons I was reluctant to sail the line in the first place and one of the main reasons I haven't sailed the line again until now.

Reluctant because it has a shower curtain?

But cant you have this anyway without paying extra?

Pretty sure you can have room service breakfast in with the standard cruise package?

From what I understand if you put on the hang tag to order breakfast there is no additional charge. If you order by phone or on the app and you don't at least have the Plus package. you pay a "delivery fee".
If this is incorrect please inform.

Is there a limit on how many bottles of wine we can bring on? I know it is one per person but we want to bring on more for an extended cruise. We didn't book the plus this time  ($6500.00) We are willing to pay the $20.00 corkage fee. No problem. We drink White Zinfandel and Riesling.  For a bottle on board they are like $40.00 each. I pay $5.00+ for a bottle from Winco and the local grocery. so $25.00 would be okay.  We take a glass to dinner and that is enough. We can drink a glass in the room or on the balcony.

Yes, you may bring additional bottles. At check-in there may be a table for you to show your wine and pay the corkage fee which they will give you a receipt for. Sometime the table is not set up yet if you check in early.  In that case you will be charged the corkage fee when/if you bring a bottle to the dining room.

The white wines under the plus package are … well, I will say, not so great!  Cheap red is so much better than cheap white.  But great reds are so much better than cheap reds.

The Red Blend on the Plus menu is not bad, but you can order any wine you want and pay the difference above the $15 allowance.

When we were young we thought we were invincible and didn’t take any insurance. We just got reimbursed for medical stuff after we got home. Now that we are older we take the insurance

We started taking insurance when our parents got old and infirm.  Now we're the old guys so we still purchase the insurance.

Yes, his long-time gf is going but don't know how involved she is with things.

DH and I are staying out of things as much as possible at this point. DH tried offering suggestions at the beginning and the buddy wasn't interested.  We're hoping for the best.

This would keep me up at night!! LOL!
When our family 0f 7 in 4 cabins sailed to Alaska, one of the members of our party had never cruised before...so I tried to help him with various things.  But I found the best way was first to have his Princess sign in and password so I could check in as him and monitor what needed to be done.  The other was, we all got together to plan flights, pre-cruise hotel, excursions (who wanted to do what with whom), Specialty dining: so we could all dine together and of course to choose dining room and times for dinner.  Worked out well for all and had we not done that, I would have shown up for the cruise with "raccoon eyes" from lack of sleep!

"But how would you get it through security?"   My wife will wear a 7X moomoo  and I will duct tape the case to her left leg, leaving the right leg free to kick the security personnel.    That case has been with us for over a decade. We learned early on that there's is a snow ball's chance in hell of getting through port security unnoticed.

LOL!  The whole moo moo idea sounded doable!
    Nice bag though!

Nothing to do with the packages.  Also, neither package has a corkage fee waiver benefit.  It is true that bringing a bottle or two of wine back to ship from a port will rarely garner any attention at all and guest can simply proceed with it to their cabin.

That said, bringing said unopened bottle to dinner can result in being assessed a corkage fee.

Right!  And depending on how much you want to enjoy with your meal, you could also just pour it in a glass and enjoy with dinner.

I used to bring some better wines as part of my inventory, but soon stopped when I realized the food was not quite up to the wine and now I just go for good value wine that may end up costing close to the lower prices on the menu, but is far better.

What can be better than to improve your dining experience with a lovely quality wine?!
On our upcoming Anniversary Cruise on the Enchanted we will most likely bring a  bottle of Caymus Cab (one of our faves) to enjoy in the Crown Grill on our special day. (Especially when I noticed that the price onboard is $155! 😲

Incorrect.  Guest may bring on much much more than 2 bottles (IDK if anyone knows what the practical limit would be).  All bottles >1 per guest are subject to a corkage fee of $20/btl.

We once pre-ordered a case of wine from Total Wine and picked it up when we went to port.  At that time (FLL in 2012) we just sealed the case well and put a luggage tag on it and checked it. Pretty sure that would be frowned upon these days.  2 of the 12 did not incur a corkage fee but when we brought the others to the MDR we were charged corkage.

If you are asking can you bring more than 2 bottles on board at boarding - no.

Go to the Princess website where the details are fully outlined.

Incorrect.  You can bring on more and pay the $20 Corkage either as you board or when brought to the dining room.  The first two bottles (1 per/passenger) do not incur a corkage fee but are to be consumed in your cabin.  Nothing would prevent you from pouring your wine in your cabin and carrying the glass to the dining room.
