Like the seas around the Horn, this body of water also has its own reputation for being a little unpredictable. It can sometimes be referred to as... Nobody surfaced until gone 9:00 and even then it was down to the Tuscan Grille to get coffees, fruit and pastries. The rest of morning was very laid back while we awaited our arrival to Cape Horn.Cape Horn is named... This short extract has been cross posted from my Wordpress Blog. 10. http://www.wansbroughs-cruise-blog.me.uk/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/p12001151305819372.jpgOn the vast majority of our cruises, there tends to be a flight involved to reach the ship. This trip has followed that trend with us flying with British Airways on their direct service to Buenos Aires. 12. Is the drive between Cairns airport and a hotel in Port Douglas easy?

Why not get a shuttle to Port Douglas. The road is OK, a bit windy in parts and narrow. There are some gorgeous views so best enjoyed from a shuttle.

We first visited the area in 2003 and hired a car for our week long stay, that road (Cook Highway) soon became one of my favourite drives. So when we returned last year while on the same cruise as OzKiwiJJ we hired a car at Yorkies Knob for the second day so that we could get to Freshwater Station for the trip up to Kuranda.

It was also our intention to take the drive up to Port Douglas afterwards but unfortunately when we set off the skies opened big style. We made it as far as Rex Lookout before turning back. Such as shame but still nice to see it all again albeit wet!

We are just going to have to go back at some point so I can once again drive it with the sun shining!

  13. In September the shuttle dropped us at Anzac Square in Brisbane CBD. I think the cost was about $25.

Celebrity dropped us next to Anzac Square. Here is the route we took on Google Maps

    Route Map

Everything is easily walkable from there and it was one of our favourite places that we visited while cruising up the east coast earlier this year. Here is a link to my blog and what we did during the day we visited.

Celebrity Solstice Postcard #41 – Brisbane, Australia

  14. Hi. We will be visiting Auckland in Oct onboard Celebrity Solstice. Since we will only be there for a day we are looking for recommendations regarding private tour companies to make the best use of our time. Any suggestions or recommendations that you have used and we’re happy with?

    Thank you

We used the following 3 company's in New Zealand on the Celebrity Solstice earlier this year, I have attached a link for my blog next to each listing so you can get an idea of what we did. I personally couldn't fault any of them. I just hope we can go round again some day. :D

Archer Tours in Tauranga - Celebrity Solstice Postcard #6 – Tauranga, New Zealand

Hawkes Bay Scenic Tours in Napier - Celebrity Solstice Postcard #8 – Napier, New Zealand

ES Tours in Akaroa - Celebrity Solstice Postcard #10 – Akaroa, New Zealand

  15. Back in 2010, I purchased a souvenir key ring for my stepdaughter while on the Celebrity Equinox, and since then I have continued to buy her one from nearly every ship we have been on. She really is putting together quite a collection now and I have to say that they do look quite impressive when all laid out next to each other. When selecting which one to buy I always look for the better quality ones which generally have some sort of metal content with no sticker and there must be some reference to the ship on it. I steer well clear of ones which just reference the cruise line and also anything made of plastic. So in 2012, I decided that I would follow suit and start my own collection.

After a good start, I hit a snag after trying to find some of the missing ones from our earlier cruises, I have really struggled to find even one. Do you think they are out there? Not a chance! Some come up on E-bay now and again but generally, they appear to be non-existent unless you buy them while actually on board a ship. On recent ships I have been on such as MSC Musica the selection on offer was really awful so I never bothered and it was much the same on our Norwegian Spirit and Jade cruises. So if anyone out there reading this is going on any of these ships or who knows someone that is going on one then could you help me out? I will of course fully re-reimburse anyone who is able to help fill the gaps. The list below are the ones I am missing.

    Jewel of the Seas

    Costa Magica

    Grand Princess

    Costa Serena

    Norwegian Epic

    Explorer of the Seas

    Costa Atlantica

More recently I have decided to try and include keyrings from ships I have done ship visits on and these will be heavily dependant on other people helping me out as the onboard shops are always closed when in port. The first one of these I have is acquired is from Oceania Marina, many thanks to Jill (a member from one of the forums I frequent).

    Eurodam

    Prinsendam

    Rotterdam

If by any chance you can help me out with any of my missing keyrings and wish to contact me, please leave your details by following this link to my blog and at the foot of the page there is a contact form.

  16. This port is part of our cruise in March of 2018. In reading it seems that the town is far from this dock. Taxi cab $60 AU. Does anyone know if Celebrity has a shuttle to get passengers from the ship to the town. Any advice or knowledge on this port would be great.

    Thank you!!

We were there earlier this year. Celebrity shuttle was $22

Below is a link to my blog recording our day there which you might find of use. :D

  17. Last night pretty much followed the same routine as the night before, Diamond Lounge then dinner so once again no show in the theatre for us. Not that we religiously go every night while onboard and anyway it’s just we would rather be doing other things instead. I think the first night was... 18. Picking up from where I left off yesterday, we left the cabin at 6:30 and headed once again for the Diamond Lounge for pre dinner drinks. It was much quieter last night as the first dinner sitting had already left and our drinks steward Fernando was constantly in attendance frequently topping... 19. Early evening we ended up going to the Diamond Lounge which is an exclusive area for members of the Royal Caribbean loyalty scheme that have attained a certain level. The drinks were plentiful and company excellent so we ended up not going to the show we had originally planned. We stayed until... This short extract has been cross posted from my Wordpress Blog. 20. From about Wednesday on the Met Office began issuing weather warnings for today with strong winds and large waves being predicted along the south coast as Storm Brian arrives the UK. As a result, we set off from home not really sure what was going to happen. Our aim was to leave home around... This short extract has been cross posted from my Wordpress Blog. 21. Had we not received 50% of our fare back in the form of two credit certificates from our Harmony of the Seas cruise in May 2016 then we would not be taking this cruise. With little time off from work left for the year and with the credit certificates use-by deadline fast approaching we picked... This short extract has been cross posted from my Wordpress Blog.
