  1. We always make reservations pre-cruise, even at various times depending on what we might have planned for the day(early or later return from an excursion etc.).  Rarely a problem if we show up at a different time than reservation. ( not offended if we have to wait since it’s on us if we alter our arrival time) Always get a table for two.  Tables are so close to each other that conversation is easy if desired and easy not to without appearing rude.

FYI On a recent cruise we did occasionally notice the “no reservation “ guests were seated sooner.  A couple of observations…they had pagers so had checked in earlier, or were part of a group of 3 or more so their larger table was available.

  2. Does it actually say that long pants are needed for riding in the water?? We booked a private horseback ride years back and, yes, long pants good for riding on dry land, but we wore bathing suits in the water…no saddles. Waist type life jackets provided. Crazy feeling once horses were swimming! I actually fell off while in the water…scared my husband, but I easily got back on the horse! 👏🤣

Some what  out of the ordinary excursion…fun!

  3. Did the yacht race (2 yachts participate) several years ago….fun!

Have the choice to participate as a crew member or to sit back and just go for the ride. Not sure if they normally go a bit out from the harbor, but our race didn’t go too far out as the captain felt the weather wasn’t perfect for inexperienced “sailors”. Convenient to the cruise port. Quite safe. Informative. I enjoyed many summer days sailing as a kid, so was very happy to be on a sailboat again!

  4. We had great fun watching World Series games/finals on the big screen at the pool deck. Best when our teams were playing!!   Also football games!

Even if you’re not a major league sports fan, you might enjoy the electric atmosphere poolside on a balmy night… or perhaps wrapped in a blanket on a cool night .    Hope your ship has the big screen showing a game.  Best tailgating ever!

  5. Don’t stress over details!  I suggest you don’t overbook too many activities or try to please everyone as that rarely happens and you’ll disappoint yourself. Gathering in the Windjammer at an “off” time could work…a break from the hot sun…perhaps mid afternoon for cool drinks/snacks/card games/photos….

A beach gathering could work well, too.

  6. I just found the term “ infinite balcony” described in the new Celebrity Edge description.   Seems there are conflicting opinions. Windows open from the top to about half way to the floor. There is a sitting area in front of the window, hence my conception of a cubicle.

Doubt they’re at the water line! 😉🤪

  7. Are there now two types of balcony staterooms….either with sliding doors out to a real balcony, and staterooms with a window that can be opened?

I just booked Enchantment… directly over the phone with RCCL.   The rep kept repeating “ocean view balcony”.   My confirmation only states guarantee ( no specific category) so am now worrying.

  8. Correct,I understand the initial door slamming complaint.   But so many other complaints are surfacing, that it’s getting hard to find a majority of compliments.

Frequently I have to remind myself ”take a deep breath”. 🤣

  9. Not sure what the cause is….perhaps COVID cabin fever….but there seems to be so much bellyaching these days .  We just returned from an Iceland to Boston cruise when the weather was less than perfect, a port skipped, slow mdr service, low staffing throughout… but I just can’t find it in me to complain! Sorry if my door slammed one time when the balcony door was open ( geez! That causes quite a wind tunnel! 🤣)

I had no cooking, cleaning or laundry to do. I found booze to satisfy me and entertainment better than on tv. My stateroom was made spotless.  I was on vacation with my husband when we could relax with no obligations for a while.

Until the world becomes a more happy place, I’ll be thankful for any cruise and hope the service industry can find, and reward, more hardworking folks who have to deal with us privileged cruisers.

  10. It’s just a “theme” for one of the nights…also a”lady’s night” at some point.   Not really a night for “gents” ONLY…all are welcome !   Names are randomly selected  ( submit your seapass at tables or slot machines).  Husband and I each “won” a casino credit certificate of $20 and $25.  Didn’t hear of anything more significant given away.

  11. Where is that sunshine?!  Arrived in Reykjavik early this morning then straight to the Blue Lagoon .  Dared to fight the elements and “enjoyed” the warm waters for about an hour. Only an hour you might ask.   How about this:  gale winds, rain that felt like sleet and chilly temp if 11C!!  Only the hearty endured!

Fingers crossed for better weather tomorrow for Golden Circle and Friday’s boarding!

  12. Good parking info above.

just want to warn visitors to Boston that the subway (the T) is a VERY BAD transportation option right now… closures abound!  Opt for shore excursion, Uber, taxi type of ride, (account for time in traffic), or lace up you walking shoes!! Study info/maps and plan accordingly before your visit to Boston… a city I actually love!

  13. Just a heads-up:  I LOVE Boston!!, but

the Boston subway system (AKA the T) is a mess right now…malfunctions, closures, construction.  So if in port consider Uber, taxi or the like and allow time for traffic. If you’re a walker, consider lacing up your sneakers and head to the (busy) historic Quincy Market area, Beacon Hill, ChinaTown, the North End (Italian shopping/restaurants, Paul Revere house, Old North Church),the NE Aquarium .

The city has so much to offer… history, science, education….so do your research AHEAD of port time.   Enjoy and learn!
