  1. You keep the promos you had when you booked, but you don't get any new ones. For example, someone booked in a balcony with 2 of the perks (let's just say UBP and SDP) wins a bid to the Haven, they won't get the other 3 promos unless they paid the price to upgrade (which can sometimes be less than to bid).

    Thanks

  2. First of all, please excuse the writing in this post if yousee words joined together. It’s not me it’sthe new CC program. I have notified themtwice.

My husband and I will be staying in Vancouver two daysbefore a Princess cruise which departs Oct 8th. We are experienced cruisers and this will becruise #41. We originally thought thatwe would book at the Hampton Inn as we like their hotels. This week, out of curiosity, I decided to check some otherhotels, preferable near Canada Place. Ican’t believe my luck and in fact wondered if there was an errorsomewhere. I did check prices at severalbooking sites thru Trip Advisor and all matched up. We will be staying at the Pan Pacific for$130 USD per day, $153 with taxes! Ibooked with the PP website using our AAA card. The reservation can be cancelled with no penalty up to 24 hrs beforearrival.

This almost seems too good to be true. I checked the Fairmont across the street and thereis no discount there.

We are very pleased with our reservation.

    Sorry what is PP, thanks

  3. We really enjoyed the priority embarkation and disembarkation recently on the Escape. Made a HUGE difference in our previous experiences in Miami. Got on board as soon as boarding began and did escorted disembarkation down through the Haven elevator straight to the terminal with our priority luggage tagged directly ahead of us in the terminal for pick up. Still had all the walk off people with us going thru customs, but that is to be expected.

Also enjoyed the new option of Cagney's and Moderno for dinners. Overall, we're glad to see the new changes for Platinum level.

I don't think this had anything to do with your Platinum level. It sounds like you were in The Haven and that's why you received all those perks.

  4. Huh..... *sigh*......

I tend to not volunteer much personal information in public forums.... in the interest of wisdom...but....we have a member of our party with a fear of big dogs....these 'sniffers' tend to NEVER be poodles or dachshunds.....

    *sigh*....

    ....and UGH!!

unless you're in Cuba. Last time i was they were using Spaniels.

  5. Ok, well here's an update over the last 24 hours on what might be one of the most out of sync experiences I've ever had on a cruise.

So it started with Grand Cayman...we tendered and made our way to shore. No issues. As a suite guest you get priority tendering so we went to Michael's club and were escorted to the tender line. Water was choppy but we managed and the trip time was pretty short. Grand Cayman was a nice port in that there weren't tons of locals trying to entice you into their tour bus...they were there but just not so in-your-face as other ports. We booked a bicycle excursion independent of the ship and that's where the days takes a turn. My husband has advised me that he doesn't want me to write anything that hurts the guy's business and for the record, that's not my intention. But I feel I owe it other other cruise fans to at least present the facts. So here goes...we reserved bikes with a private company called West Bay Bikes. The owner, I'll call him Gerry bc I can't remember his name, picked us up in front of the Dairy Queen and drove us to the biking location (about 10 miles away from port). The idea was to rent the bikes and do the West Bay loop around the island. This was appealing to us because we do a lot of biking. So, Gerry presented us with a little local history as he drove us to the bike stand. This was interesting. Once arrived, Gerry requested payment of $45 pp...cash. His cash only policy wasn't posted on his website. We had exactly $82 bucks on us combined...ok, our bad for not taking more cash. Gerry accepted our $82 in lieu of the $90. He then told us about the route and the points of interest. We were issued single speed bikes that frankly, had seen better days. He told us to be back by 4 PM so he could drive us back to port. We left his bike stand at 11:30. By 1 PM we were finished. We ate some lunch and had a few beers at the beach bar next door to kill a little time. Gerry appeared around 1:45 and I inquired about being taken back to port before 4 PM. He refused saying that he had other bikers in the area making it impossible for him to leave. He also informed me that he wasn't a taxi service and that I should wait until 4 PM. Here's where I got testy. I didn't want to wait until 4. I was done and wanted to head back to town. There were no taxis to be found and frankly, we were out of money. I didn't really appreciate HIM telling ME how to spend my time. Again, I understand his concern about having bikers in the area. I'm not unreasonable. But I think Gerry could have done a better job informing potential customers about the fine details associated with renting bikes from him...ie cash only, and return to port time being inflexible. Ultimately, we called for a local cab to take us back to port and fortunately, like most businesses these days, the driver accepted plastic. Not sure I would recommend West Bay Bikes to my friends...even though the scenery was nice.

Back on the ship, I made my way to the Persian Gardens to relax from the stress of the day only to be interrupted by a facial attendant who wanted to do a consultation for me. I wasn't opposed to talking to the lady, just not while I was snoozing on the heated bed. It was a little awkward they way she walked around the room calling out my name until I finally raised my hand letting her know my location. For a minute there, I thought I had won a prize.

Evening entertainment in the Reflection theater was a show called MAXX about a guy trapped in a digital age. It was horrendous with the exception of the acrobatics they managed to work into the story line. I'd skip this for another venue.

The icing on the cake was when we returned to our stateroom to be informed that "veranda maintenance" was scheduled for our balcony at 8:30 AM the next morning. Uhh, I don't think so. I called guest services and requested that the maintain somewhere else. We already shceduled our breakfastto be deliverd during that time and weren't really interested in having that time interrupted. They obliged. It was just a weird ending to a weird day.

Today's scheduled visit into Falmouth was diverted due to strong winds and very choppy seas. So we have a bonus sea day. We are Ok with the change in plans but I know that some were disappointed. Despite the unexpected sea day, chairs in the solarium were still pretty easy to snag. The ship personnel are working hard to make sure everyone has a good time today and even though yesterday was a little off, I still greatly appreciate Celebrity and will no doubt continue being a loyal patron of their ships.

Guess it'd time for a cocktail...

    Christina

    Hi Christina,

I was wondering if they had a special boarding area for suite guests returning from Grand Cayman to the ship.

  6. Hello everyone, I posted the below earlier today but forgot to even mention where this shore excursion is. So sorry, I'm not very good at this yet, posting that is, not cruising.

We will be leaving next week on the 11 night ultimate Caribbean cruise on the Equinox. Has anyone taken or is scheduled to take the excursion called exclusive Island Escape? We are thinking about it but would like to know if anyone else knows anything about it. Your comments are appreciated.

Go to the roll call. There are many excursions being offered, See you on the

  7. My wife and I have been in many suites in the past, and even an Owners Suite aboard Princess. We booked our first NCL Owners Suite on the Dawn, with both adjoining rooms, for a special family cruise coming up in April. I know NCL provided a number of bottles, or bottle of liquor of the guest's choosing en-suite in the past, however I don't see any references to it on the NCL site now. Does anyone know if NCl stopped the practice since FDR took over? If not, what's the process to make the request? ;)

You'll get an email from the pre-concierge asking for your preferences for different things. On that email you will have a list of bottles to choose from as well as sodas etc. Just fill it in and return it.

  8. actually Specialty Restaurant staff are NOT included in the DSC

    sent using Forums mobile app

Why are they not, it's only the concierge and the butlers that do not participate in the DSC. The servers in the specialty restaurants don't only serve there. One of the servers we had in the Haven was serving at Cagney's in the evening and had to leave half way through our meal to serve in O'Sheehan's. So why wouldn't he participate in the DSC.

  9. I really can't. I've been in suites on NCL but not the Haven.

However, here's what I can tell you from my experience in YC .

The suite is bigger on NCL. MSC's suite is smaller, but very nice.

On MSC you embark the ship via a private entrance. Go to the white tent, a butler takes your bags and you are escorted onto the ship. You set up your account at the Concierge Desk, including telling what newspaper you want delivered in the morning.

LeMuse is the dedicated restaurant. Drinks are included, except for bottles of wine.

Top Sail Lounge - very large Lounge, with views from the front of the ship. never crowded. Serves drinks, coffee, has snacks which are replenished every two hours. Piano player, violinist at night. Serves tea at 4 PM.

One Pool - two hot tubs, a pool, bar service and buffet where you can also order omelets, pancakes or waffles freshly made.

Mini bar in your suite .... stocked twice daily. Soda, juice, mini bottles of liquor and snacks.

Butler. Will escort you off the ship when in port. Ours gave us rain jackets,

water and snacks to take with us in San Juan.

Concierge Desk within the YC, so you don't have to stand in line downstairs.

Private elevator to Spa. Priority overide on certain elevators to go directly to the YC.

    Butler assists at disembarkation.

I think there's only 79 suites in the Yacht Club, so it's never crowded. They don't have those large suites that encourage large groups.

They get to know who you are. You never have to show your card for a drink.

We tipped our butler and wait staff extra. However they are included in the tipping pool and MSC discourages additional tipping, so any tips you give should be done discretely.

We only paid $1800 per person. Daily service $ even in YC is $12 p/p per day.

And they Status Match. Whatever level you are on NCL (or any other line) they will match that status to a comparable status on MSC.

They have several new ships coming out. We'll probably be trying Seaside when she comes to Miami.

MSC is a slightly different experience .... more European, more Italian .... They're not perfect, but they are trying very hard to be a player here in the US.:)

    Thank you.

  10. thank you for your review.

We passed on booking the Haven for around this same time period (went with Yacht Club on Divina instead), mainly because of the problems I read about out-of-control children in the Haven. Very happy to hear there wasn't a problem (except, of course, the hot tub).

    :)

Can you tell how you compared the Yacht Club to the Haven. I was thinking about trying the YC. thanks
