Hi we are on the Allure of the Seas July 31st and looking at booking a pretty early flight home. Do you know how the self disembark process is on a ship so large?
I was on MSC in January and thankfully had Yacht Club otherwise we would have never made it off the ship in time. It was a crazy mess. Tyia!
We just got off of the Allure on 6/2 and did the self disembark. The worst (longest part) was trying to get down on the elevator that morning with our luggage. We finally took the "up" elevator and went for the ride. Very easy after that. Maybe took us 20 mins to get out of the building from the time we left our room. Would definitely do it next time!

Did you take any excursions?
we did, but not through the ship. We went in St. Maarten and did the Orient Beach/Maho Beach one. It was great, but we actually spent more time driving from one side of the island to the other, than we did on the beach! Prob wouldn't do it again because of that!

There had better be otherwise my wife will not be a happy bunny. We'll be a party of 10 going this October and will certainly all dress formally regardless of anyone else and luggage weight restrictions.

yes, 2, Tues and Friday. We all dressed up, my husband with suits, my daughter dresses and I wore a jumpsuit one night and dressy palazzo pants the other night. Love those nights!!

Welcome back, glad you had a great time. We will be sailing in August, can you please tell me if you know or heard anything about a Murder Mystery Dinner on the ship? Supposedly it is held in Giovanni’s.....?
You know, I never heard anything about it. Sorry!! I have done those before though and they're so fun!!

I love the allure. How was overall service
Everything and everyone was fabulous.. The ONLY issue we had was one morning (the day we were in San Juan), we ate breakfast in the restaurant. We sat pretty quick, but the waiter was slow getting to us and they brought my daughters breakfast, about 15 mins before ours arrived. No apologies or anything. But, it all fairness, it was packed that day. We got over it and had a great day anyway!!

Can you tell me what the mattresses were like please? First time we were on the Allure I barely slept because I was so uncomfortable =(
I thought the bed was extremely comfy.. They had egg crates on top of mattress.. Slept well every night, and I'm not a good sleeper normally!!

Howdy! My family and I are sailing the week of Thanksgiving (: We have sailed on Oasis about 6/7 years ago...
What eats were your favorite outside of the dining room?
For MTD, around what time did you eat each night?
How was the crowd on the cruise? Young, old, family, or couples?
Favorite drink??
We only ate at one specialty restaurant, CHOPS and it was fabulous! Could cut the meat with a fork! We ate between 7-8 every night. Didn't really notice the crowd too much, except when everyone was at Promenade for dance parties. Mixed crowd, which we loved... babies, elderly, couples, newlyweds, all ages!! Rum punch always makes me feel like I'm on vacation, but the Pina coladas were awesome too! Have a ball, so jealous!!

Did you see any drink cards for sale?
yes, half way through the cruise, they were offering 10 drinks for $79 I think. It was also "shareable " with other family members, but we had the deluxe drink package anyway.

Yes please tell us about the secret to MTD!🙂
just go and have the Matre 'D give you a card to come back when he tells you. It works out well. We live in NJ and are used to having to wait for dinner. So, just plan on it ahead of time, go listen to some piano music or have a glass of wine and relax and when you go back, you'll sit right down.
Have a ball!! I'm so jealous!

Welcome home! Glad you had a fantastic trip.
1) Can you please share how you 'figured out' MTD?
2) Were there two different comedians?
3) Favorite bar?
Sure, we found out that you can't really make a "reservation" until after 7:30 for MTD because the people that made them on-shore will be getting those (they also use the dining room for some traditional diners). So one night the Matire 'D (excuse spelling) took our name and gave us a card and just told us to come back in 1/2 hr and he would seat us immediately. So every night we did that. We got dressed for dinner, went there, got the card and then went to Schooners and had a glass of wine. Then we went to dinner and sat right down.
My absolute favorite comedians name was Rich (forget his last name, but it was a Jewish name)..soooo funny. The woman (can't remember her name at all, sorry and I'm at work so I can't look it up) was NOT too funny the first night that we saw her. The second night she was better, but not as good as Rich. The MC "Jamezy" was actually funnier than her.
Favorite bar was "Bow and Stern". We went there 3 different nights to hear Charlie Jourdan, but I think he was finishing up after our cruise. We loved him. We also liked the piano player/singer at Schooner and of course, the bar next to the Flow Rider was a big hit as well.
I can't even believe that we are back for almost a week already.. :(

That appears to be the norm. Our guys will wear long pants on formal nights.
Yeah, my husband wore a suit and my daughter and I were dressed up, but it sure isn't like it used to be. There were some people really dressed up, but some people totally underdressed. They should just go to the buffet, where there is no dress code.

Hi!
Just finished a fabulous cruise on the Allure of the Seas 05/26/2019-06/02/2019! We totally enjoyed every minute of it, except maybe the lines for "my time dining" (but we figured that out too).. If you have any questions, I would be happy to try to answer them. We had an Ocean balcony room on the 6th floor, which we found to be an excellent location and felt next to no motion and had no noise issues! We are so jealous of all of you future cruisers and can't wait to go back!!

I just returned from The Allure. There were many, many men and boys wearing shorts to dinner on nights other than formal night. I was not paying attention on formal night, but I would bet they were wearing shorts those nights also.
there were shorts and t shirts on formal nights, which surprised us.

Yeah, I mean if they don't have problems with any of the remaining azipods, it's not a big deal. Our concern was what would happen if 2 malfunction and they'd need to drop ports or send her in for repairs when we're supposed to be sailing. Just seemed like an unnecessary risk to take if we weren't already booked (plus Allure was more expensive than Harmony for just about all of the summer months when we were quoting things out).I agree with you on that point. I was getting nervous in the weeks leading up to our cruise, but thankfully all went well. I'm only sorry that it had to end. It was just awesome!! Have a ball!!

Whichever is the cheapest imo, though I would imagine Allure (and Oasis if cruising before November) would be somewhat less attractive if you care about water slides and having the latest bells and whistles. They're all basically the same, though. We decided on Harmony for our July cruise over Allure and Symphony largely due to cost (plus Allure's propulsion issues).
Hopefully not before we sail on her next month. 😄
The number of people who have fallen asleep during CATS on Oasis has to be in the tens of thousands at this point, no?Just got off the the Allure on Sunday and I can tell you that the propulsion "issues" didn't effect the cruise one bit. True, we were only in PR for 4 hours, but that didn't bother us at all. That was the only port time that was changed by the issues.

Plus on the last day of the cruise they held a family & adult comedy shoes in the Opal theater with no reservations required. It was packed.
This is true on the Allure as well. We just got off of it on Sunday. On the last night, they had the comedy show again in the theater and their were no reservations required. We all just walked in and sat wherever we wanted. Show started at 10!

Hello,
Sailing on the Allure in 6 days and my husband, daughter and I are looking forward to being "unplugged" for the week. But, I want my son (who can't make the trip) to be able to reach us if there is a problem. What is the best way for him to do that? He's not a kid (26), but still want to have contact info for him.
Thanks in advance,
Patti

Hi-Considering the Allure again for October cruise. This time we might want to try a Central Park or Boardwalk balcony. Anyone who has feedback pro or con would be greatly appreciated.
I just read an artlcle titled "balconies to never get" and both of those were in it, stating lack of privacy. They said that you have to keep your curtains closed because people can see right in otherwise.
9:40 AM flight from FLL following Allure cruise in November

totally agree. We just got off of the Allure on 06/02 and since we had an 11:40 flight, we didn't leave our room till after 7:45. It only took us 20 min from our room to get out side of the terminal. We called an UBER and were at the airport by 8:30. We could have easily made an earlier flight, but were nervous, so we sat there for a few hours. It was all good though!!
