  1. On RCI, they punched hole in the Sea Pass, and required kids to wear them on lanyard when in the kids club. This is so they know which muster station to bring him to in case of emergency. We did encourage our son to wear his when we were outside the room on the lanyard, but when he was in pool we would keep it. He loved unlocking the door when we would get back to the room.

The muster information is on the bracelet they require each child under the age of 12 to wear. The information is also on their sea pass card.

  2. First, does not matter how long it is before I sail on my next RCI cruise. In my opinion, you don't roll out web site enhancements unless it has been tested extensively or it is a government site. I worked for a very small company years ago (especially when compared to RCI) and when we had our site re-designed we kept our old site active for a week as a back-up. Not sure exactly how they did it as I am not an IT guru, but when the new site crashed on day two the company simply redirected the link to the old site.

Second, they have already been having issues for a week because I have seen people posting on and on about $4.90 mystery charges appearing on paid-in-full cruises with RCI. Those post seemed to be met with broad confusion. Let me get this straight, you paid thousands for a cruise (in one case the poster had booked a suite) and you are worried/upset over $5? Yea...perfectly rational. But note, now they are admitting they will have two weeks of site issues.

Third, I called them and was given the instructions posted above...did not work and the person on the other end was equally confused. They gave me the number of IT and I called them. I was assured they could navigate me to anything I could do via "My Cruises" and was asked "What would you like to do?" When I said I wanted to view my reservation they said "Well, we don't know how to do that when the site is not functioning correctly."

I will point out they said the problem would "periodically fix itself for short periods of time." They suggested if the work-around mentioned above was unsuccessful to simply try again later.

It is perfectly rational to be worried about a small balance due on a cruise that is past final payment. A cruise that is not paid in full after the final payment date can be cancelled. By the time the cancellation is noticed, the cruiser might have already lost their desired cabin to a new reservation. In the past, when things like this have happened, the cruisline will reinstate the reservation, but they will not work to get you back your desired cabin.

So, yes, it is perfectly rational to worry about $4.90:cool:

  3. Glad to hear Royal is offering a fair resolution. Isn't it funny how things turned around once a little torque was applied to the VP? ba-dum-tishhhhh...I couldn't resist. :p

I hope your other-than-the-cabin-fiasco experience on Allure was terrific so you will, in fact, use that $ and give Royal another chance! You gotta admit, the workout facility was pretty nice as "hotel" gyms go. :D

    Here ya go.

  4. When you book with a travel agent it is the travel agents job to make sure everything is setup correctly. RCI does not manually audit every booking they get. While I understand this is frustrating and I would be upset as well, the issue is with your agent not RCI. Giving you a discount on your next cruise for someone elses mistake seems nice. They did not have to. Book directly with RCI next time and cut out the agent, same price.

No one needed to manually audit this booking, the deckplans show that the cabin only sleeps 2, the software should never have allowed a third person to be booked in that cabin.

  5. I called yesterday 10:21 AM EST

Personally, I would give them until tomorrow and then call for a status update. Not trying to make an excuse for the cruiseline, but they did a software update over the weekend that has caused major issues with their computer system. They might need time to be able to pull up all the history of your reservation and see where the mistake was made. Plus, since you are just back, the system upgrades might have prevented the information from the ship to be transferred to the cruiselines computers.

Edit: I see they did call back. Give them the afternoon and then call again.

  6. RC told me that ship only had rooms that sleep 2 or 4...the agent said it does have triples.

the TA passed me off to her supervisor who quickly referred to an email from RC that said it was there fault and if I called for me to call post-cruise guest services.

I wonder if it is a safety violation/hazard for 3 peopel to be in a 2 person room?

You say you are waiting for a call back. When did you call? I would give them a reasonable amount of time and then I would call back again. You definitely are due a refund, not a credit, for the third person. Just be firm but not aggressive. State the facts and let the system work.

    Good luck!

  7. 2 adults and a 16 year old.... 10677

Deck plans shows that is only a cabin for two, not sure how you were able to book a 16 yr old in the cabin also. The age makes a difference because they will allow you to book a child under 2 (might be under 4) along with parents, in a cabin for two.

  8. while on board we asked for the amount equal to the 25% credit to instead be applied to our sea pass account and that was shot down. With RC making it clear to contact TA I was figuring the TA would offer something at least comparable but doesn't look to be gonig that way. Never thought I'd sleep on the floor on a cruise ship and initially told (in a very polite way) 'deal with it'

Was this three adults in this cabin or was there a young child? What is the cabin number?

  9. Call them back and ask for a new invoice to be sent to you so you can see exactly were the difference is. If you did not change anything yourself, then they should look into it further. Did you buy an excursion or a drink package? Did you go in and change your cabin and cause a price change by accident? Stick with it and figure it out, don't leave it until boarding because you might be fully cancelled by then for non-payment. I would also look at the credit card I used to payoff the cruise and see if a refund was posted to your credit card by the cruiseline in error.

  10. just a warning to everyone after Royal caribbean website upgrade my cruise that was paid off in full now says i owe $260.00 extar. Called Royal Caribbean International and they could not tell my why and we leave next Saturday. I hope this will not cause a problem at the port getting on the ship. We will see if it does I will not be very happy if i have to pay that after the cruise was paid in full

Call and ask to speak to the resolutions department.

  11. I know you have gotten the smaller urn so that is settled.

I just want to make a suggestion that my sister did with her DH. Keep some of his ashes to be mixed with yours when your time comes. It was wonderful when my sister also passed and we knew her ashes were mixed with her greatest love in her life. Very touching.

Just thought I would share for those that might not think of this.

    Very sorry for your loss.

This was a thread from earlier this year that was just bumped. The OP has already sailed so the burial has most likely already happened.

  12. If RCI abandons traditional seating and large tables in the MDR, I will move on to a line that still has them, just as I left NCL when it went Freestyle.

I've made many good friends at dinner over the years who still keep in touch.

When I sail alone, I don't mind doing my own thing during the day, but prefer companionship at dinner, the more the better. It was terrible to be seated alone nights in the middle of the dining room on Norwegian Majesty (or worse, at some ratty little table right in front of the swinging galley door that they seem to reserve for "strays"), getting glances from people in groups at the tables around me. Couldn't tell if they were conveying pity, disgust, or what.

If you think talking to strangers is uncomfortable, just trying eating a meal while they silently give you the stink-eye.

If the day comes where I can find no adult on a ship who can bring themselves to share some pleasant chit-chat over a meal without feeling totally stressed out and put-upon, I guess it's time to stay home.

    Wow.

  13. Wow, sure looks like I'm in a minority with my opinion. I didn't mean to offend anyone. I was just stating my thoughts. You all have valid thoughts. I guess I should take a refresher course in english too :p:D.

I don't think anyone who has responded is offended by your opinions. Everyone just doesn't feel the same way you do. We just experienced the new menus in August and there were days we didn't bother going to the MDR since nothing thrilled us. Had we seen something that we knew was only going to be in the MDR, we would have gone, but we knew what we wanted would be in the WJ too.

I think the whole "Loyal to Royal" thing is nothing more than a marketing campaign that some people have adopted as their motto. There is absolutely nothing wrong with trying another cruiseline. If you aren't happy with what one cruiseline is offering, branch out and try something new. You might be back, you might find that Celebrity or Princess suits your needs better.

Be loyal to yourself and your family.

  14. Do you have to leave at 815. Our flight is later so I didn't want to rush off the ship?

No, you don't have to leave by 8:15 but you will need to be off the ship by 10 at the latest, usually. People will be waiting to board the next cruise. When we sailed on the Freedom in late August, we were at the port just after 10:30am and were on the ship at 11:02.

If you have a late flight, you should look into an excursion or rent a car so you can do something yourself.
