Many people are there just to drink and listen to music.  We ate there and the food was great.  O'Malley's was open for lunch today and then dinner.  I think it's only open for lunch on sea days. People were singing along last night, it really was a fun spot to be.

We just finished a fabulous 20days on the Enchanted.  Never did get into O'Malley's it was so popular.  Met cruisers who told us they would go there  first thing  for dinner and spend the entire evening.   If the young couple was not performing there was always something going on in the piazza and they had a seat.  Perhaps Princess should consider allowing these talented entertainers to perform a few sets in Take 5 ( as well as the jazz ) or in the Vista Lounge.  Anyone who will be onboard in the next few sailings hope you get to have some fun and sing along.

When you buy any product and the later when the add more features and increase the price I would assume you need to pay the new price to access new features. This would be on anything not just a cruise package. This has not been a secret

The "Plan" has always been promoted as "Princess Plus"  initially sold at $50 then increased to $60.  Last fall the press release simply stated that the "Princess Plus" plan now included the two casual meals with no reference to when one subscribed to the plan or any suggestion that if you wanted this "perk" you could upgrade.  The language was inclusive with no exclusion for early purchases.  Old Plus packages were included in the new provision for $15 drink limit but did not provide for the "Juice Bar".  We were on a 10 day trip.  Why would I pay a $100 upcharge to obtain a $30 meal promotion?

We are just off the Sky and had a wonderful time. However, there were a few glitches that I thought might be helpful for others to know about and perhaps others would like to add to it. We all had the Plus package in our group of 8 in 3 cabins (included 2 little kids).

It can't be repeated often enough. Check your folio daily! We had a random $4+  bar charge show up even though we had the Plus package. Guest services removed it no problem. I believe it was for a large bottle of water since those aren't included. (I had gotten a small bottle of water.). The most random thing is that on the Sky last summer, we had a bar charge for around $16+ something. They told us it was for 4 large bottles of water.  (We had gotten 4 small bottles of water).

Keep an eye on your beverage count. 2 of the 3 cabins went over 15 on the 1st sea day. In both cases, it was because 1 of the couple in a cabin always went and got the alcoholic beverages and got charged for 2 drinks. This meant they would go over with 8 drinks. With a scolding, guest services corrected it and told them to be sure and ask the bartender to charge 1 to each person in the cabin. I have read on CC in the past that bartenders alerted you to the fact that you were at 15. No such notification to our group.

Beverages over $15. I have no problem with paying the amount over $15 + tip if I buy an $18 glass of wine, for example. However, in the past, the bartender always informed me that it was over $15. Usually, since it was wine and I was ordering from the menu, I knew it anyway, so no big deal. DS likes Gin and Tonics and decided to each time he got one, to try a different brand of gin. At one point, he had a bar charge which turned out to be a premium gin. I've never heard anyone mention this and since gin isn't listed on the menu by brand (I don't think?), how would one know? He didn't mind paying it. It just would be nice if the bartender had told him there was an upcharge, which he didn't.

Just thought I would share some of our experiences.

Like I said, we had a great time and these were just things others might want to know about.

The next time we sail, will be our first "Plus 60" instead of the Plus 50. I would love to hear if there are experiences with casual dining of which we should be aware?

    🙂

Regarding the "Plus 60" plan.  Our last cruise aboard the Sky in January was our last with a "Plus 50" Package.  Despite the press release last fall which simply stated that "Princess Plus" would now include two casual dinners per cruise I was told that we had "Old" P+ and we were not entitled to these casual dinners.  Passenger Services had no explanation but would not provide the casual dinners. They pointed out that there was a small symbol beside our account that indicated "old" plan.  Very disappointed with their position.

  4. The same team that thought it was a great idea to remove the one unique Princess feature, Skywalkers, and replace it with sloped stern soot catcher aft cabins.  Think of all the errors on the Royal!  That not being successful we will drop aft cabins altogether and install two staircases instead on the Sun.  Great use of premium space.

Surprising you didn't get any OBC.  Did they at least offer an apology?

My wife received a nice bouquet of flowers.  When we went to the hospital we insisted on an incident report.  We returned to the scene with a Security Officer who completed a report which included photos of my wife's footwear.  No apology as I 'm sure that would imply responsibility.

  6. Sometime last fall the loungers on the Sky Princess were replaced with a new all metal model.  These new loungers are slightly wider than the old.  The legs of these loungers are completely exterior of the bed are are of 1" rectangular metal.  The corners are very sharp.  In order to place an equal amount of loungers in a given space the loungers are placed much closer together and the usual small table for each two loungers has been removed.

Moving around these tightly placed loungers is very hazardous.  A slight brush against a corner and you have a skin tear.  In our last three cruised on the Sky my wife has had two tears, one requiring a visit to the onboard hospital, and I have had one.

We brought this problem to the attention of the staff but had no results.  Suggest everyone be very cautious around these loungers.

I just read that they might be coming back.  They will look a little different than the bright blue bags of the past.  It may just be rumor but even saw a photo of someone on the Sky Princess and they mentioned that they were to be giving them out fleet wide.
    Time will tell.

Just got one yesterday on Sky Princess.  Not as good quality but happy to have it.

Thank you for the tip.  Yes indeed I have a QR code and Green Line without having entered Shoreside account.  HOWEVER, this app says "New to Princess despite me being Elite with 48 cruises.

Just spoke to an "Ocean" specialist who said she could not make changes to new app because it was still getting update.  She said use the boarding pass but wait until February.  I'll just use the old app for this cruise start 20 Jan.

App update overnight on Google Play, but I don't see any change in the prime areas of concern with the new app...specifically only one cruise at a time and the shoreside CC issue.

Is this an Iphone update?  Did not get or see an update for Android.

On the new app, just under days to go, there's a "Check-in" tab.  If I tap on it, it takes me to the dreaded Shoreside payment method.

However, if I don't tap on it but, instead, swipe left, other tabs appear.  One of those is "Boarding Pass."  It says "proceed to Green Lane."  If I tap on that tab, it gives me the check in QR code, and again reports "Green Lane" - as well as other check in information.

So, even in the app, if you don't want to provide a Shoreside payment method, you still get assigned to the Green Lane.

Anyone want to confirm this on their new app?

I have been looking through the new app and am finding many new improvements.  First of all, it’s not making me log in every time I check it like it did yesterday.  All my bookmarks for my cruise next week as well as my dinner reservations all moved over properly.  All of my other information also did so.  It’s no longer timing me out.
It is showing I’m in the green lane and showing me what package I’ve purchased.  I can see what muster station I’m in even before I board the ship.
And, I know this is a small thing but you don’t have to turn the screen to portrait to view it anymore.  You can use it in portrait mode if you wish, but I mostly use my iPad to check the schedule and such and the old app only allowed the one way view.  This new app takes into account that you can use your iPad or your phone and you can view the screen in landscape or portrait.  Well done!
The new app also puts any dinner reservations you might have onto your JourneyView schedule.  I’m not sure if it also adds excursions or spa appointments that have been confirmed but would imagine it does.  The new JourneyView screen reads more like the Patter, so it is more easy to read.  That was actually fixed earlier this year but I like the format.
So far, after it was being a bit fussy yesterday, I now really like it and it seems like it is better than the old app.  Most new technology is like that.  There are little bugs that oftentimes just resolves themselves with a little bit of patience.

The only thing that I think is not an improvement is that it is not showing all the future cruises I have booked.  That may come with time.  I logged in with using my user name and password vs using my booking number so, would like to see that happen with any updates.
I didn’t look closely into Explore my Ship but would like to see all ships in the fleet available in the new app, whether I’m at home or onboard.  I like this feature when I’m in the future cruise offices to pick out a cabin.  I will poke around a bit more and see if I can find this.

Interesting!  What version of the app do you have.  I don't see any reference to Muster station, nor do I get Landscape view.  Are you just dreaming of the ideal app?

What exactly has been improved?  Still slower than the second coming. Can't sign in with email & PW making for very tedious Booking # sign in.  Can only see one voyage despite "My VoyageS" being displayed.  Can't find travel summary.

    Improved!  Really?

Further to the above.  How can you release an App when the login doesn't work? Don't you build from this?  Princess you dropped the ball again.  Perhaps you didn't even start with a ball.

check again. I didn't see my reservations right of way but you if you look in the upper right hand corner of the reserve dining page there is a small calendar with a heart in it if you have reservations. Click on that and hopefully your reservations will show up.

Thanks for the hint about the calendar symbol and heart.  I must be blind or it could have been a little bit larger.

  15. Just downloaded from message link.  The app does not show up for me if I go directly to Google Play store.  As soon as I tap check-in the app time's out.  Can't see other voyages which is a real pain.  I have B2Bs but only first shows.  Very long time to load first time.  When I clicked check-in got cirlcle for over a minute then page appeared followed almost immediately by time out.  Will try signing in with booking number which is a pain.  Not Impressed.

@Coral  We just booked the 54-day, 3/13/2026, Australia/New Zealand/South Pacific, roundtrip from San Pedro, on the Island Princess voyage.  Thanks again for the heads up!  🙂

Unbelievable that this trip is presently being shown as sold out !  Is this possible so soon ?

Congrats that you got a booking.  Would be a dream trip for sure.

    Cheers

I'm also in Canada - Nov 27 e-mail shipped and still getting no status message like you.  I leave Dec 19 sail 21st.

We are Canadian and traveled on the Sky in early Nov from Southampton.  We received the Medallions about two weeks before sailing.  We got notice of shipping with tracking but were not able to track and the package arrived by Canada Post.

  18. I had the exact same problem with my Canadian broker statement.  Eventually sent email with statement attached which they acknowledged.  Shortly thereafter the app acknowledged that I owned the required shared and gave a prompt to "Redeem Perk".  Selecting this I was required to enter the booking number for my cruise.  It stated that perk would show up in a few days.  This is day one.

My question is what is required to apply for future cruises.  Our next is in Sept.  The app does not seem to allow for further uploads.
