  1. I took an upsell to R417 suite midship on my upcoming cruise, only suite left at the time or I would not have. I had a balcony on Riviera deck once, can't recall the ship, and about 4 am the chairs above were scraping the deck. I will bring earplugs this time and hope cruzsnooze is right!

  2. As I posted on another thread, 90% of my cruises were in March. Last year a 4 & 5 day. It was a different kind of cruise, food and service not as good and first time we sailed on a ship where noro was widespread though out the whole ship but no problems with passengers. Maybe I was just lucky (none of my group got noro either). Have another 4 and 5 day in about 30 days so we will see.

  3. Hyatt Place on 10th (next to Embassy Suites)

Renaissance on 17th St (across the street from the entrance to the port) We have walked in before if the ships at Pier #2/4

    Embassy Suites

The Pier 66 would be my last choice.

    Agreed.

  4. I wonder about the laundry perk. Do they do a good job? No shrinkage and wrinkles? I took an upsell last year to a suite but was wary of the laundry perk so didn't use it. I just took an upsell last night for my cruise coming up and thought I might try it. Also, are the Vista suites better than penthouse? I was only in penthouse.

  5. I am just starting to look into solo cruising. Right now my cabin mate is my 90 year old mom. I suspect this year may be her last so I started looking. Can't say I am happy with what I found so far. As a retired manager I do understand all about the bottom line but I don't have to like it. I guess I'm not clear what the op is saying about not getting the lower price that a double would get.

So say I book a cabin solo for 1700.00 that would be 800.00 pp if i booked double. Next month it is discounted by 200.00 and I cannot as a solo reap any of that savings? What about specials that offer free specialty dinner or whatever, can a solo get that? What if you have a casino discount can solo use that?

As I said I am just trying to understand how being solo works because I know my time is coming. I really am not interested in sharing a cabin unless a close family member. :)

  6. I feel your pain. Also 5'3 and was 205 at last Saturdays weigh in. I started at 210 on Jan 2. I do have a cruise scheduled for 2017 but I am also trying my best to reach 190 by my March 5 cruise. I am doing weight watchers and exercising like I never have before, 6 days a week. Hopefully it will show on the scale this Sat. Good luck to you!:D

  7. My friend was in a wheelchair on my last cruise. We were initially seated above a step, but were moved upon request. The dining staff always pushed the wheelchair and tucked it out of the way, so it never disturbed other diners.

Good to know. The staff are very accommodating with regards to the chair. We have had fellow passengers rise as we would not have gotten through. I like the back tables but just not worth the hassle. Thank you.

  8. Our first stop after boarding is to find our table, if we want to make a change we find the head waiter and make a request before we leave. We have made lots of table changes and have always found the staff to be extremely helpful.. Sometimes you are given a new table on the spot and sometime it takes effect on day 2 .happy cruising

Thank you, good to know it is at least a possibility!
