The safety guidelines were followed. The open window was high enough according to safety regulations and there is a railing between the guests and the window.

No window can be idiot proof.

I totally agree !!!  (BTW in case there is some confusion..--that quote was not mine but rather the family lawyer!!!)

Looks like they ARE continuing with the lawsuit against Royal.

Attorney Michael Winkleman said in a statement that the child’s death was “a tragic accident,” and that the family, who is from the northern Indiana community of Granger, will be filing a lawsuit against Royal Caribbean “very soon.”

Winkleman has said that Chloe fell through an open 11th-story window on July 7 after she had asked her grandfather to lift her up so she could bang on the glass in a children’s play area. He’s blamed the cruise ship operator for leaving the window open.

“These criminal charges are pouring salt on the open wounds of this grieving family. Clearly this was a tragic accident and the family’s singular goal remains for something like this to never happen again,” Winkleman said in his news release.

“Had the cruise lines simply followed proper safety guidelines for windows, this accident likely would never have happened.”

Interesting... does CAS waive the single supplement on all cruises, or just some?

Bob...I really can't say...I only know that when I do sail solo I have always just paid for me. I really do not know their policy, though there has been some discussion on CC about it not being across the board for all CAS levels, etc. .

But did you pay the full fare (for a standard cabin), or did you get a bargain fare where you only paid half the room for two charge...that could make a difference, maybe.   With a Studio cabin, you are not paying a "single supplement", however, you are paying more than half of a standard inside cabin for two...sometimes even more than the full discounted price for a cabin for two...

IIRC, the fine print on the shareholder benefit form says something about not getting the full benefit, in certain condition's, such as special reduced fares...:classic_unsure:

I book with CAS , with a discount and no solo supplement ...so in essence, I am not paying full fare.

I called two weeks ago to arrange for distilled water for my husband's cpap machine and the rep told me that they get so many requests now that you no longer need to go through the access desk. She just added the note to our account.

Yes--as I recall , last time a made a reservation they asked me (for the first time)  if there were any dietary or other needs. She added distilled water  to my account and said I did not have to contact  access desk.

My suggestion to anyone would be to walk in with a drink so you're good to go when you first sit and let your waiter know that you'll be requiring another soon. Lol!!

This is what I do ....never a problem then waiting...😉
