  1. Just found out that the Grand Prix Cycling will be taking place on the day we disembark from NCL Gem in September. From the map, it looks to me that the race is right in the heart of the city. Has anyone by chance had any experience with this race? I'm just wondering if this will cause issues attempting to get to our hotel. I think I'll book a tour to Montmorency Falls and Island of Orléans for the day. Hopefully it's a very early race start!

  2. Are you able to buy Gift Certificates/OBC through MSC?  I couldn't find on the website. Since the Fantastica package is no longer an option, and don't need the $800 drink package, I'd like to have OBC ready to spend!

    Thanks!

  3. I was just going to book the Preziosa with the Fantastica package for October, 2020. It's a week cruise out of Germany if that matters.  Will this cruise get the Drinks on Us promotion? Is this a package you have to purchase?  I cruised once with MSC 8 years ago so not at all familiar with them!  Thanks so much.

  4. Points newbie here!

I have an inside cabin on TA booked this September and would like to use my points to buy a dining package, but I don't think that's an option? Any ideas of how to do this if I buy OBC? I have just over 48k points.

    Thanks!

  5. I'm taking the Jade from Southampton to NYC this fall. This TA has 2 disembark options; NYC or Miami. I'm wondering if anyone has taken a cruise with this 'early' departure option and if you can tell me if you were able to disembark quickly? We're scheduled to arrive at 8:00 AM, but trying to plan what time I should book my Statue Cruises tour.

Also, I've never disembarked in NYC before, so any comments on that are welcome.

    Thanks for any advice!

  6. We just got back from our British isles cruise last night. I recommend going early to see more of London (or another British city or town). We met people who had a horror story of arriving the morning of our cruise. They had wait time in Heathrow, wait time for the coach to fill, wait time to get into the cruise terminal since they arrived so early, and then wait time before boarding commenced. Since they did not have any type of priority boarding, it was after 1 before they got on the ship. It's not a relaxing way to start.

We stayed three nights in London, took the train to Southampton for one night there (to see the Tudor House and Gardens and the SeaCity Museum's Titanic exhibit), then boarding our ship. We took the cruise line's transfer to Heathrow after the cruise. It was easiest for our early afternoon flight.

In retrospect, I wish we had added more days after our cruise like some of the people we met on board.

I'm flying into LGW and am planning to take the direct train to Southampton the day before our cruise departs. Can you tell me if there were luggage restrictions? Were there plenty of cabs at the train station to take to your hotel?

    Thanks!

  7. If you purchase 2 certificates, you are charged $500 for them in your onboard account. However, you also receive $250 OBC in your onboard account, which means the actual cost $125 each ($500 - $250 = $250/2 =$125).

When you apply the Cruise Next certificates to your booking they will be worth $250 each, so essentially you save $125 off your next cruise for each certificate.

Also, you can use 2 certificates per balcony stateroom (or higher) if your cruise is more than 6 months in the future.

    https://www.ncl.com/cruisenext

I only need one certificate per stateroom, correct? I will book an inside cabin for 2 people.

So to wrap my brain around this, I'll book an inside cabin now with a $50 deposit. When I cruise in March, I'll buy 1 certificate for $250 and spend the $100 OBC on that cruise. When I return home, I'll call NCL and have them apply the certificate to my booked inside cabin. If they offer any other perks when I call, great. If not, $300 total has been applied to the balance of the cruise.

If I'm wrong in this, please let me know!

  8. Whilst the OBC on cruisenext has to be used on the current cruise you will have no problem spending it.

In order to earn that OBC you need to spend at least $250 that it can be used against.

Oh! So I'd have to put down $250 in order to receive the $100 OBC?

    Hmm....there's a $50 deposit special right now.....

  9. I want to book a cruise that was just released, but wondered if the perks are worth it to wait until I cruise in March. I see that the OBC offer from CruiseNext must be used on the current cruise you're on, which for me on a 4-night cruise that I already have the UBP and dining isn't that much of a perk.

Any other perks I'm not aware of?

  10. What is the address of your airbnb in the "Financial District"?

Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island usually take longer than you think they will.

It will be the height of rush hour going to Juliana's Pizza via Uber and dark or almost dark for your return walk over the Brooklyn Bridge.

What are your plans for the following day before you fly home? Which airport will you be leaving from?

Airbnb is on the corner of Pearl & Hanover St. Depending on how long we tour the islands, Brooklyn may have to wait until another trip, or just do the walk Saturday morning before we leave for the airport. We'll fly from LGA, cheap non-stops to TPA. There's a 4:00 PM flight that will work. What time should we have the car service (thinking Dial7 or Carmel) pick us up?

If there's something we could do instead of Brooklyn on Friday early evening, I welcome your thoughts!

  11. My husband and I will be on the NCL Jade transatlantic that has 2 options for disembarking; NYC or Miami. This will be my first time disembarking from a cruise in NYC. We're scheduled to dock at 8 AM. Here is my itinerary that I'd love you east coasters to critique so I maximize my very limited NYC time.

Please know that the safety and comfort of our guests are our top priority and we will continue to provide regular updates throughout the week.

For more frequent updates, please follow our meteorologist on Twitter @JamesVanFleet or visit the Royal Caribbean Facebook page

  13. James Van Fleet! omg. His predictions for Harvey were horrible. Completely different from all others. Not even close. Google him. People were wondering if he even had a job after his last fiasco.....it was like he was predicting just what Royal wanted you to hear, not what was actually about to happen.

I don't need him to predict the path of the storm, but I want to trust his communication that he's receiving from RCCL. Is this a mistake?!
