If you're flying in a day early, you can check with your hotel, and ship the air mattress to the hotel. They will tell you how to address it and how early you can send it. The usps flat rate box might be the best option.  They are a bit heavy and will take up a bit of room. The post office will tell you what weight and cost you can use, and the boxes are free to take. So I would get a box of each size, make a notation on it of the cost, and plan on removing the "bed" from its original box, but dont unfold it. If you unfold it it wont fold back as tight. I use the flat rate boxes a lot. Remember to fill in any extra space with something, as it's space you have prepaid to utilize.

  2. I was able to make the remaining due payment on one cruise and a payment on a second cruise. Not the way I have for the other several partial payments though.

I had to click on already booked and then on payments at the top of the screen. I was on the home page as if I were looking for a cruise.

I tried several times during the day, just clicking on my upcoming cruises and that didn't work anymore. This was Thursday the 10th that I made my online payment. I also called, but I wanted to try some more times online. That way I have a second pathway into making payments online, as that is my preferred way.

If this thread is still active next week, when I make another payment online I will take notes so I can post exact instructions to still access the payment system.

  3. This is how I feel about all this. I do feel "dependent" on my little 4 1/2 lb poodle. For some reason, maybe because I can't carry him., I don't feel so dependent on my bulldog. But I sometimes get a lot of comfort from my little guy. But he is not a support dog.

I had cancer and have had a double mastectomy, I still have pain, and feel like people stare as I have had no reconstruction. It's been over a year but seems like it all just happened. I think I will be okay. But to think about my kids, my husband, my grandkids, my future? I want to cry. My dog helps me with that. But he is not a support dog.

I wish so much I could bring him every where with me. EVERY. WHERE! But he is not a support dog.

My dog stays at my vet while I'm on most vacations, and always stays at the vet's office when I cruise. How is it fair to me when someone cheats and brings their dog? My dog is not a support dog so I do with out him. He is right against my leg as I type this though, giving me support where he belongs. I have spent most of his life training him, he stops barking on command, he never leaves an area unless I okay him to. He sits and stays and down and stays. He will potty on command. Is totally housebroke. But his place is not on a ship. Or any where dogs are not allowed, or off leash in public. My dog can not go, neither should any one else take a fake support dog any where that pet dogs are not allowed.

People who have real support and service dogs have earned the right to have those dogs with them. They have real needs for those animals. I do not have that need or right. So my dog can not go.

  4. Hawaii I know very well, my Husband lived there for a while and so we have been to all the islands several times through out the year and for 3 to 6 weeks at a time.

The weather in Hawaii doesn't change much, during the cooler months, December , January, and February, it will be in the high 70s. Maybe low 80s. During the summer the temps get to the high 80s. There is almost always a good breeze. With the breeze off the ocean it can feel like a light sweater is needed.

I wore capris or a skirt, tank top, and a light sweater most every day. And of course flip flops.

If you go up country you will want to have a warm sweater or a jacket.

  5. I work in customer service at a large company. What I noticed about the ops story...and the point I think he was going to get NOTHING is this attitude...

"I also don't understand why we had to wait over 3 hours just to be told no"

I would be thinking that I just spent 3 stinking hours to fix your stinking problem and hey no need to thank me...for trying.... but since I spent 3 stinking hours and FAILED to circumvent the law for you, your attitude is that I furthered your problem by trying to help you.

If anyone trying to help you could perceive that type of attitude good luck getting any type of compensation. And most people who have to deal with stressed customers know who is going to have a self-inflicted meltdown aimed the people trying to help.

Sorry to sound so harsh but its true. Seriously lost me at the - 3 hour to get a no- feeling.

  6. Understood Bigman

I agree I'm not up on what Carnival is willing to do. And as far as I know if your cabin is sold out a "price" adjustment would be impossible. Your cabin category would not even show a lower rate online, it wouldn't show up at all.

I felt like the OBC was an addition to my booking. I have had several times when promotions offered some addition to your cruise. Like included gratuities, a premium dinner, or as was the case this morning with Princess, free sip and Sail.

Still a great day, the sip & sail is $56.35 per day per person and our cruise is 28 days long on Princess. They added it to my booking no problem. There was no change in cruise fare that we paid.

And yes I will still enjoy my Carnival cruise. And overall the Carnival cruise is lower priced to begin with then similar length cruises I have been on.

  7. I don't know stobe1? She never mentioned it. She checked if we could also get a price reduction, without my asking her to. I knew the price was the same still. And she mentioned the cruise was within a month of my birthday so she was adding a birthday thing?? to our booking. Not sure what that is? Maybe cabin decorations? It seemed she was looking for what she could do extra.

One thing I will say is I felt the Carnival cruise was cheaper then what I am used to paying. So I guess you get the level of service you do or don't pay for.

Like I said, this is the first time we booked Carnival. We were hoping some of the family members that seem like they wanted to go could afford to go. Turns out the Only my Sister in Law and Brother In Law are going and they cruise regularly with us on Holland.

    Oh well live and learn.

  8. Yes we booked Early Saver. We booked and paid for it several Months ago.

I'm just upset because I'm not familiar with Carnival. With the Holland America Cruises we have booked if they offer any promotion you qualify for they add it to your booking.

On a brighter note we have a 28 day Princess cruise in March of 2018 booked, they just added a free sip & sail package to our booking. I've never had a cruise company refuse to add a promotion to a booking unless it says new bookings only. And then they have giving us a good will gesture of a small OBC.

Carnival said our category is sold out so I was out of luck. No credit. So we probably aren't a good fit with Carnival. I called Princess this morning...very very happy after. Called Carnival tonight....not so happy.

  9. I started a new thread with all the details, but short story, they refused me the credit.

Our category is sold out so they said they could accommodate me on it. I have to say never had any issues with Holland ( who is owned by Carnival) or Princess.

I wont let it ruin my cruise, but it will keep me from booking with Carnival again.

  10. Well I saw on here that there was an onboard credit of $200 per cabin offered. I went on the carnival website and checked the details.

We seem to qualify, we booked and early saver, we paid in full at the time of booking. The cruise is in January of 2017.

I spent 36 minutes on the phone. Carnival refused me the promotion because our category of cabin is sold out. I asked for a supervisor, but didn't get to speak to one. The person who took the call checked with one and that supervisor confirmed to the employee I was 1st on hold with that I can not have the $200.

I feel penalized because we booked the higher priced aft cabin.

I have mostly sailed on Holland America, this has never been an issue with them. Any promotion you are eligible for they will add to your booking.

We also have a 28 day cruise booked with Princess for 2018. They have a free beverage package that we qualified for, called them this morning...no problem, added it to my booking. A saving of more then $3000.

1st time with the Carnival line, while I will still enjoy the cruise, I wont book again with them. I guess we are not a good fit.

  11. When I got married my passport was still a long way from expiration. So my name did not match since I legally took my husbands name. If you have time, I think it took a few weeks, you can mail in your passport and they will add on the last page, a name change notation.

I found it confused some people where you might use your passport for ID. So a drivers licence was sometimes helpful.

The name on your passport has no bearing on your marital status, you could legally change your name for other reasons too. So if your name on the passport matches your legal name you need no further proof of the name on it. If it doesn't match and you have the addendum stating the change...you need no further proof, but I found it helpful to have it.

    Hope this helps.

  12. I saw this post when it was first posted, didn't bother to click on it, felt it was a non issue. Guess not.

The "don't breastfeed in public" or "only where I deem acceptable" or "properly covered up" arguments are so silly.

The idea that you might offend someone or arouse them?? Really? At a certain time the women's ankle was considered a fetish. Today men are able to control themselves and not be overcome with lust at the sight of an uncovered ankle.

The assumption that males will be overcome with lust at the sight of a feeding baby if a bit of skin shows is an affront to normal males. If that is the case for some people then the more often they are exposed to a nursing mom will help them to overcome that taboo.

If people are offended by a nursing baby, they are looking to closely. Mind your own business. The purpose of a mothers breast is to feed a baby.

The truth is a women with a baby should have one priority over all else: her baby. Her baby's health, her baby's comfort, her baby's needs. Not yours or mine.

Please feed away- however and wherever it works best for your baby!

  13. Hi July2012

Okay take a breath, I know how you feel. So you have plenty of time to feel better about your weight.

You need a game plan. If you manage to get a tiny bit more fit...I said FIT...you will be more limber and feel more energy. So get some frozen mixed vegetables and some frozen pre cooked chicken. Pour out a big portion of each on a plate heat it and eat it. Eat as often as you want. Prior to eating anything that is a treat, have a big bowl of vegys and protein, then you can maybe handle a smaller treat. Drink lots of water.

Put any scales in the closet, just dont worry please, put them in the closet.

Walk every day or even better, purchase, or check out from your library, or find her on u-tube, but do as much of Leslie Sansones "Walk a way the Pounds" DVDs. Richard Simmins always puts me in a happy mood too.

Okay after several weeks, you will have a lighter spirit, happier moods, and your clothes will fit better, you will feel better. Doesn't mater if you lost weight, you will feel so great and healthy! You can do this!

Before you go make sure you have a couple great tunics, some shapewear tank tops ( tuck into your undies to stop roll up....trust me on that) and some capris, better quality ones with some stretch. Make sure they hug you somewhat tight. Dont go baggy. Also get some knee length skirts that match those tunic shirts too. Skirts are so much more flattering than shorts. For your bathing suit, what works for me is two tops. I wear a non padded black bra, or a bikini top in the same print, under my tankini top, for lift and support. you can also wear your shapewear tank if its black and your tankini top is black or a black print. Check how it looks in the back, you want a tankini that the back comes up as far as possible for the best look, and a wider strap. Pair that with a pair of black bathing suit bottoms like from lands end, they suck you in, and then I also have a swim skirt I put over the bottoms. I know sounds silly, but I feel confident and I know things are not looking like bouncing jello!

Think layers if you still have money left to spend on new fabulous clothes. Sleeveless tank tops with a short sleeve button up top or light sweater over it. The top nor sweater will look good buttoned up so dont worry if they cant.

I know this is a lot of goofy information, I hope it helps you. There are a bunch of us who are heavy. There will be others who are heavier, others lighter. We are all just also trying to be comfortable in who we are. You are not alone, so try to accept where you are right now. I know its hard. I know you can do this to feel better, not to lose weight. To feel healthy and in power of you wonderful self.

  14. Just to add my rather silly take on this rather silly conversation.

I only shave my legs when they are sure to be touched. Or when I am going down to the lake. Most of the time they are just the way god designed them. remember that song that had the line in it ....I shaved my legs for this? I do have blond hair so light colored soft hair on my legs. I shave my arm pit if the top needs it. Normally I dont bother. I wear a uniform to work that never varies.

I also very rarely wear make up. Rarely ever use conditioner on my hair. Rarely use a blow dryer, and rarely use a curling iron.

About 3 times a week I use a cheap face lotion. I do use body lotion every day.

I have often woke up in the morning and gave thanks to Allah/God that he graced me with the face he did. And then right away asked for forgiveness for being so pleased. I still am so thankful for the way I look. I am 53 and people think I look like my daughter's sister.

I am overweight by about.....let me think, maybe 20 to 30 pounds. But I am healthy.

I love clothes, and I love to wear dresses or skirts. I think a happy smile is really all the make up or jewelery I need.

My body and face is changing from my age, I hope and pray that the way I feel and react to it does not change.

I have used make up, but other than powder, I look like a dork with make up on my face. But I do like to gaze at the perfection attained by those who can wear it and look like it belongs on their face. To each their own.

  15. I actually wear a uniform to work...the same uniform ( pieces get replaced as needed with identical new ones) for 26 years. UPS brown....yuck and double yuck!

When I get home its into pjs for me. I work very long hours and very hard, so I go no where Monday through Friday. Saturday I clean the house then grocery shop then cook for the week. I don't get dressed up and I wear the same clothes I was cleaning in to the store. My hair stays pulled back in a long pony tail almost every day. No make up.

Sunday I go to breakfast with my Mom. After that I shop for clothes. That is the only day I can wear what I want and mess with my hair. Still no make up, as I rarely wear it.

So even given all that...I love to buy clothes! I have a large extra bedroom as my closet. With long rows of racks of clothes. And I often go through every thing I own and purge all that either I am tired of or that fit wrong.

So vacations are the one time I can get away from the UPS uniform and heavy work shoes. I want everything perfect, and its fun to shop in stores and online for the once a year 4 to 5 weeks we leave cold Michigan and head to warmer climates and or a cruise. I buy what ever strikes my fancy and end up with more new clothes, purses and shoes than I could possibly take with me.
