1. Ok so I booked a cruise in june on freedom on the early saver plan so that i can get price adjustment all the way to cruise date. Currently they have a holiday sale that is a couple hundered less then I am paying, If i do a price adjustment do I lose my early saver benifits for future price adjustments and go by the holiday sales rules? Or do I just get the lower price but my early savers rules stay? thanks

You answered your own question;) "I just get the lower price (as OBC), but the E.S. rules stay", as you'll still be E.S. And keep checking the fares-you can get price adjustment with E.S., up until 2 business days before your cruise...Happy cruising (and OBC!)

  2. Hopefully, things turned out for everyone, and the 2 sick passengers get well soon, from whatever caused their illness. I didn't check out the web cam, so I don't know if there's fog today or not. But I was thinking, if the Magic did get in hours earlier than scheduled, perhaps trying to get to port, then wouldn't be an issue? and the passengers would be able to disembark on time...(this is not knowing when the fog starts building-in the evening/late night? wee hours of the morning?...I live in the desert, where we don't have fog)

  3. How is this even an issue?

Let's say Jane books an OV in January at $1000 for 2. By August prices drop (which we all know happens) and the spa balconies are now $1000 for 2. Bob sees this online and books the cabin outright, so he will get the amenities. Jane sees the same price and calls her PVP who immediately upgrades her to the spa balcony, which is now the same price that her OV was. Both are paying $1000 for 2. Why on earth should Bob get the amenities simply because he booked the room outright vs. Jane who "may or may not" simply because she was upgraded?? If both are paying $1000, then both should get the amenities. Am I missing something?

Precisely! I paid $1100 plus for my OV, then upgraded to a spa balcony, which is $800 plus....don't get me wrong, I will truly enjoy the balcony:D...but will enjoy it more, if I get to use the spa!;)

  4. You are booked ES so you forfeit $50 per person and the remain balance

of your paid for cruise (not just the deposit) minus your penalty amount.

Since you are within the 15 to 29 day penalty period if your cancellation is not covered by the insurance you will be penalized 75% of your cruise fare with the remaining balance being held as a credit.

I'm confused-if the cruise is not till June of next year, how could she be in the 15-29 day penalty period? Being this far out, couldn't one cancel at this point for any reason, even with no insurance? (Minus the $50 pp for booking ES, which I get)

  5. I am booked on the Magic for a cruise next month. Until today, I had a deluxe ocean view booked through a casino rate-total with taxes was $1100 plus.....Today I called Carnival and spoke with my pvp about the Holiday Rate sale-since I was past last payment, and had not booked E.S.,I was not eligible for any obc, which I knew-he checked to see if I could be upgraded to a balcony-he was able to move me to a spa balcony-or at least a balcony on the spa deck:confused: (which I'm very pleased about, as this will be my 1st balcony-in fact, it would have been my 1st ocean view!:D) but was told, I may not be eligible for the spa amentities. This same (spa) balcony with taxes, is still only $800 plus. Since this thread is several years old, does anyone have any more current/updated information? (The spa amentities would be great, if they were included, but I'd be o.k. with just having a balcony, if they weren't). Thanks:cool:

  6. Fog is common in the winter in Houston, especially on the coast. The airports are further inland (especially IAH) but even they can get socked in at times.

    Good to know. Thanks.......

I booked my 2 hour flight to land in Houston (IAH) about 9 a.m. on the day of my cruise. (In the past for cruises out of Florida, NOLA, etc., I've always flown in the day before. I decided not to this time. Hopefully, there will still be plenty of time in getting to Galveston, even with a possible fog delay.....upon returning from my cruise, I booked a 6 p.m. flight, knowing there could be problems with docking, due to fog)

  7. 2 years ago, my 88 year old mother, and I went on this tour through Carnival, and it was fantastic. There was quite a bit of walking involved-but not hours, or miles of it. There were times when she would need to take a quick break to catch her breath, as it was a steep road to walk up, to get to the ruins. I do believe there was transportation available for those who wanted a ride to the ruins. These pyramids and the jungle setting were spectacular-I hope that the person you booked the tour for, gets to see them. From my experience with my mother, I would say, go for it. Others may have other recommendations, or opinions though, so you'll have to use your judgement.

  8. Thanks for the help in advance!!

    1. Rebooking cruise after canceling the early saver and paying the 50 per person, now do u have to rebook under early saver again?I'm not 100% sure, but I think once you're booked early saver, you're always early saver

    2. If I cancel second cruise, will there be fees( probably depends on answer to #1).Yes

    3. can I change one of the cruisers names?I don't believe name changes are allowed-you could ask though-would probably cost you;)

    4. If I cancel early saver and hold the deposit for the two years and still can not go, can I book a cruise and then cancel again to gain another two years? Not 100% sure (again:o), but I don't think you could gain another 2 years-use it or lose it; otherwise, one could do this over and over

I'm trying to wait for Europe, lol!!

I think Europe will wait for you, though!
  9. What is the best option for getting from Houston to Galveston for cruise port.

    Thanks

I've done a lot of research on this for my upcoming cruise in Jan., and as someone else already mentioned, the bus transportation thru the cruise line, seems to be the most feasible/reasonable-at least for me, as a solo traveler.

(Congrats on your smokeless lifestyle-looks like you have some extra $$$ for cruising now:D.....Perth is on my bucket list to visit one day-looks like a beautiful, progressive city.)

  10. Can't wait for this cruise-something to look forward to after the madness of the holidays are all over with! Going solo-will be 1st vacation in over a year-hoping to meet kindred spirits who might be interested in sharing a meal, going on an excursion/to a show together.

  11. Does the Carnival site always show all rooms available or do they hide some of them? Reason I ask is my family is booked for next Dec 2014 with another family. I was hoping to get our room next to theirs but there are none. I keep checking to see if a room cancels but no luck yet.

This would be on the Magic Dec 21, 2014 deck 8 balcony. They have rooms 8308 and 8304. We have room 8354

No, not all cabins are shown on the website-call Carinival, and you can ask if specifice cabins are available. Good luck!

  12. I'm afraid to even wear one of those robes in my cabin; do you think they are changed out at the end of every cruise, and laundered? I have my doubts.....does any one know this for sure? Just say'n!!!

  13. Is there a "fog season" for Galveston/Houston? (ie:winter months?) I live in the desert, and once every few years, we may get a partial day of fog-this is why I ask......Also, is fog ever an issue for flying into Houston in the a.m.

    Thanks,

    "A desert rat"......except when I am on a cruise, I'm a "dessert pack rat"!!!!:D

  14. At the end of January, I get back to Galveston on Carnival's Magic. The one flight I'd like to take leaves IAH at 12:30 p.m.; the next flight doesn't leave till 6 p.m. I have been considering using Carnival's Transfer, but the info that is provided on their website says not to book anything before 1:30 p.m. I am just curious if anyone has experience with this. What time do the Carnival transfer vans leave Galveston? Would I be able to make a 12:30 p.m. flight ? (without stressin' out about it:eek:), or should I just book the 6 p.m. flight to be safe and less stressed? Thanks.

  15.
For 5200 points I would probably expect about $75 casino cash and maybe something in the cabin. You do need to call a few weeks in advance though, and if you can get an email confirmation from the Players Club as to what comps they are giving you that helps with any misunderstanding once on the ship.

I was on a Premier Casino Cruise last week on the Magic and the comps were amazing. We had special cocktail parties, free drinks from the beginning, bottles of water in the cabin, a tray of pastries almost every evening in the cabin, beach towels, Prosecco (Zonin), 12 cookies from the Plaza Cafe, early embarkation.

I am waiting until I get the fall 2014 offers to book another cruise.
I'll be on my 1st Premier Casino Cruise-on the Magic!:) in January-will have a deluxe ocean view cabin-my 1st!:D I imagine I do not need to call the Player's Club ahead of time, as they'll already know I'm booked with a promotion thru them? Just doing a reality check here!

To the O.P.-hope they give you some awesome perks/comps-5200 points should be acknowledged!
  16. I'm scheduled to go on a cruise this Saturday. I checked on Monday and there were no outside cabins available. However, today there are quite a bit available. I was hoping to get an upgrade. I'm curious as to why there are so many showing now. Are people cancelling or could there be another reason?

There are always cabins that are held back; I learned this from talking with my pvp a few weeks ago, when I was booking a cruise. I was asking about 1A's, and he gave me a list of others that were available, that I couldn't see when I was checking on line. Enjoy your cruise! (I have 2 more months of waiting!)

  17. I just happened to check today for carry ons (seeing if I can pack for a cruise, and not to check a bag-I don't want to pay the fee-we'll see-the jury is still out on that one!); at least for United, it is 45 linear inches, or 14" x 9" x 22". (I'm assuming that's fairly standard for the airlines). As someone mentioned, TSA does not limit the size...
