In 2017 I hope to check Catalina Island off my bucket list. Are there many differences between Inspiration or Imagination? For this cruise I'd most likely be doing it on the cheap (inside cabin with no bunks). It'll probably be a girls trip (women aged 50+ & no kids) if that matters.

Thanks for sharing!!! We'll be in Halifax on October 13.

Been in search of Regal's Princess Patters from last year for the Canada/New England itinerary. Any links?

I'm interested in buying the Boston Old Town Trolley Hop On Hop Office tickets online from home rather than purchasing it as a shore excursion. Just wondering if it comes as an e-ticket and I can hop on the trolley at any stop or do I need to begin the tour at a certain designated place?

I haven't seen any recent discussion here about the Newark Airport Express bus. Has anyone used it lately? It sounds like a great option, especially if the stop at EWR is easy to find. It would drop us off very close to our hotel in Manhattan (Intercontinental Times Square), runs every 15 minutes, and cheap--$16 adults one way & seniors $8 (My hubby qualifies for this, lol). So $24 for the two of us, plus tip, one-way, compared with $38 SuperShuttle (with discount code online), or car service, around $75 (dial 7 has fares starting at $48 but only if one travels between 4:15 AM and 7:45 PM).

Prior to our first cruise cruise, people told us that we must have a balcony. We did, and were hardly in cabin. What a waste!!!!
2nd cruise we travel with in-laws. Since they booked a balcony, so did we (why??? Again, hardly in the cabin).
3rd cruise, Panama Canal. I wanted to get an inside room, especially as insides were about 1/3 the cost of balconies. Again everyone was telling us--balcony a must! Turned out our balcony cabin was about 3 doors down from the bow which they opened up during the PC transit. Did we use our balcony--no!!!!
Fourth cruise wanted an inside but the promo was get an oceanview for the price of an inside.
Fifth cruise, got a balcony, last minute deal.
Sixth cruise, introduced a friend to cruising--had to book a balcony, LOL.
Seventh cruise---Ahhhhhh, our first inside and LOVED IT!!!!
Eighth cruise. Booked an inside way in advance, but due to price drops & upsell offer we got a vista suite for $2 less than the inside we originally booked!
Ninth cruise coming up in October. Regal--booked an IA inside about 13 months ago. The ship is nearly full, doubt if there'll be an upsell. Fingers crossed that we get to keep our inside.
Tenth cruise will be in January. A group of five ladies (two cabins) with 3 first timers. Not buying the first timer needing a balcony story. Booked an inside. It's a 4 nighter without sea days. Will see what happens.

We are on its Oct 1 sailing. Haven't received any upsell email yet.
Princess website currently shows October 1 as completely sold out so maybe they are in the upsell process.
We're on Oct 8 sailing & haven't received any upsell offers either.
We are perfectly fine with our IA inside that we booked 14 months out, but there are a few balcony's available.
Although this happened with another cruiseline (Holland America)....back in December 2014 I booked an inside sideways cabin (I believe it was their 2nd highest cat. inside) for an Alaska Cruise/Tour departing June 2015. In January, the price had dropped $300 each. In February it dropped another $50 each. Within 10 days or so of the cruise I received an upsell offer and snagged a vista suite for $349 each. So, for two dollars less than I originally paid for an inside, I got their highest category vista suite mid-ship.

I've had my airline tickets booked for months but have the opportunity to switch to something [iMO] better. According to the Princess flight quotes, one can book their flight departing LaGaurdia on or after 11 (or JFK/EWR at 12).
Our current flight leaves EWR around 2 and arrives in an airport 75 miles from my house shortly after 6 pm and we could be in our driveway around 8 pm.
The flight I am looking at leaves LGA at 11:30 am and arrives at the airport 5 miles from my house at 4:36 pm! My DH and I pack on the lighter side and could handle walking off the ship with our luggage unassisted.
Some of you might recommend that I keep my current flight so I can get to the airport more relaxed and not stressed. It's possible the ship may become delayed for some reason or another. I also understand that their EZ air flights have late arrival protection, etc. and know that I would assume all risk booking my own flights.
Just wondering if any of you have had experience walking off the Regal in Brooklyn.

Blacklane's does not compare as being much less (let alone half of what Dial7 & Carmel are quoting)
My bad....I double checked. I must have put in some incorrect info the first time. The prices for the most part are comparable. In fact, depending on one's situation the price through Blacklane could be more! I'll give my business to a local company (Dial 7).
-
While searching NYC transportation options getting us from our Manhattan hotel to the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal I came across Blacklane. They are much less (about half the cost for 2 people) than quotes for Dial 7, Carmel, and Uber.
They are a worldwide company. They claim on their website, "There are no hidden surprises with Blacklane. Your affordable all-inclusive rate — confirmed before you book — includes all taxes, tolls, fees and gratuities." Also free cancellation up to 1 hour of booking.
Has anyone used them?

Thanks! I don't know how I missed that (as I did try the search command!)

I would like to see the Cruise Compasses from the 4 night Bahamas departing out of Miami (w/Key West). Won't be doing that itinerary until January, but will be going with a few first time cruisers who are anxious to see them. Thanks!
(someone did a nice job recently posting theirs departing Port Canaveral)

I would not hesitate to sail either line if the price is right!
However, what I thought was really odd both times I've sailed with Royal--no chocolates during the evening turndown service.
Also, no bathrobes in cabin. Not sure if robes comes with status or room category. I'm gold with them & sailed in an oceanview cabin and a balcony cabin.

If I were to purchase a Voom Package at 10 pm on a Sunday night, do I only get internet for the 2 remaining hours on Sunday? Or would I get 24 hours worth and get it until 10 pm Monday night?

Maybe this is old news, but I was just in my cruise personalizer browsing excursions and it said....
Pay Before You Sail, Or Pay Later Onboard
You have the option to pay for shore excursions in advance of your cruise. If you wait, we will add the charges to your onboard account which is settled at the end of the cruise.

Good to know. Enjoy your cruise!!

Just wondering if anyone has patters from Regal's Canada/New England itinerary?

Very nice photos. Thanks for sharing!!

I'm at least 2-3 years away from doing a transatlantic cruise, but just for curiosity's sake, approximately how many times will bingo be offered? I don't do spa treatments, don't eat in specialty restaurants, won't need specialty coffee, I hardly shop, have a $40 limit/day in the casino, and seldom drink. Bingo would be my splurge!

My husband and I each bought a Citizen Eco-Drive watch onboard Princess. Price was about 30-40 percent cheaper than land based prices and the selection was incredible.

Hi jt-see highlighted in red above. No Cirque type shows on our cruise. Singers and comedians and a Beatles Tribute band. We missed a comedy juggler.

That's good to know as it's been 3 years since my last X cruise.

My opinions of two Celebrity Solstice class ships & two Princess ships:
Hand scooped Ice Cream (@ buffet): Celebrity! Always about 8 yummy flavors at a time & changes throughout the day. The "After 8" is my fave!
Best Pizza: Princess
Best Hot Dogs: Princess
Pub Lunch Fish & Chips: Princess
Six-foot long couches in standard balcony cabin (Solstice Class Ships): Celebrity
The shows are too modern on X (Cirque type shows, etc.). I enjoy the variety on Princess much better.
Princess ships are more elegant. (But having free champagne handed out to all passengers on Celebrity embarking the ship is classy!)

I'm a fan of cubes too! I have an Eagle Creek 2 sided cube that has one side that is mesh and the other side that is lined/waterproof. I pack my swim suit/cover up/and flip flops in it. It's especially nice for packing wet swim suits in (from using the hot tub on the final night of cruise).
My local Dollar Tree stores stock XL (20 1/2 x 17") and XXL (24x20")size ziploc type bags. THE XXL one is my favorite dirty clothes bag.

On our very first cruise ever, Caribbean Princess March of 2008, we had to miss Princess Cays. The ship had anchored and after the first tender was dropped the captain deemed it unsafe to bring the passengers ashore. Seas were too rough. :(
Inspiration or Imagination?

I'm sure embarrassed that this was just asked yesterday. My first time on the Carnival board--sorry! Appreciate the link, thanks!
