  1. We booked 7083, the cabin next to 7086 on the Zaandam for our christmas southamerica and antarctica cruise. Because balcony cabins will be to expensive we looked for a cabin where we can get off easily.

Because many people walked around on the promenade deck in front of the cabin windows we decidede not to take these cabins and then found these two cabins on deck 7.

It looks like it is very easy to get out and up to the pool deck.

Here is a picture of the Zaandam.

Nice Photo, and indeed is a great location. 7086 was only available for a day or so before someone booked it. We had already decided to keep our prized inside room. My DH really prefers the location of 2619 and wanted a more spacious cabin.

  2. I've stayed in 2619 several times on every R-class ship, with twice more coming up soon. I love that cabin, and the location right by the mid-ship elevators. I can get outside quickly, too, just by going up that one level.

I don't know the other cabin you're considering, but can't see any downside to 2619.

Thanks, RuthC! I was counting on you to respond to my post. You're the main reason I booked 2619 as you've mentioned this many times. I feel pretty confident that I will not be disappointed.

7086 is an aft facing obstructed view cabin up high on the Navigation deck. Quite a few people on the boards here have mentioned it's almost like having your own private balcony. The obstruction is stairs going up to the next deck. What I realize now is that's the Lido deck/Sea View Pool Area. I'm not much of a pool person, so that doesn't get me all that excited. Actually "almost" like having my own private balcony doesn't do much for me either. I've almost always sailed in balconies (even on the Z in Panama Canal), and I rarely spend time on them.

  3. About a month and a half ago I booked an Alaska cruise/tour & snagged 2619. I have never cruised in an inside before! I've done my research and am happy with my selection. While doing my almost daily price check (already saved $300 pp!), I noticed now that an outside is available--7086. I've read many great things about that cabin too. If I were to switch, I'd save an additional $79 pp. It's not all about saving money (though it's always a good thing), so I'd like to hear some input on which cabin you would pick and why.

I've booked an inside sideways cabin on my upcoming Princess cruise (Feb. 22) but I'm sure when I return from that 7086 would probably be gone.

I like the location of 2619. I like the idea of 7086 having quick access to the outside.

  4. While researching this online, some places it is mentioned that the ice cream bar located next to the pizza place is free, while other places online it says the pizza is free but the ice cream extra. So, which is it?

I'm guessing free ice cream is available as a dessert option in the MDR. Anywhere else on the ship? Years ago on my first Princess cruise, going for ice cream was somewhat of a secret. I can't remember time or location but it was like between 3 & 4 at such and such location. I don't even think it was advertised in the Princess Patter. I heard about it here on CC!

  5. It pays to check price drops often. Usually I'm one of those daily checkers, but it has been a week or so. Anyway, the price on our 12 Day Double Denali Alaska Cruise Tour dropped $300 per person! I booked direct with HAL so I promptly gave them a call. Anyway, the reservation specialist checked, sure enough $300 per person off. She told me she COULD give me that price reduction but I would lose a $25 Alaskan Gift Card (that I didn't know I was going to get in the first place). So happy dance for me & hubby. We were planning on doing a float plane excursion in Ketchikan as it's our 25th wedding anniversary that day, so the price drop will cover it!

  6. Sorry, must be one of the different cruise lines I've been on and I've seen this more than once. Neat idea. Winner of the game immediately gets to move from their cabin to the highest available suite for the remainder of the cruise. Odds are pretty good being not too many people show up for the first bingo session of the cruise.

  7. From Celebrity's Website:

All of our ships have Internet Cafes. Celebrity iLounges are found on Celebrity Summit®, Celebrity Solstice®, Celebrity Eclipse®, Celebrity Silhouette®, Celebrity ReflectionSM, and Celebrity Millennium®, Celebrity Infinity®. Online@Celebrity is found on Celebrity EquinoxSM, Celebrity Century®, and Celebrity Xpedition®. Internet access is available in the Internet Cafés 24 hours a day until debarkation is completed.

You can connect to the Internet on each ship, either by accessing a 24/7 wireless connection "hotspot" with your own laptop or tablet, or utilizing the resources of the Internet Café and its computers on board. You will be able to receive email, via satellite link 24 hours a day, satellite conditions permitting. We also have an Online Manager on board to assist you.

  8. I'd like to know if an "unlimited package" is available. I just got off an RCCL ship and they offered an unlimited package for the 4 nights for around $130-$140.

I didn't purchase it, but would consider something like that on a 7 night cruise. Some people like their drinking, spa, shopping and/or casino. I like to waste [spend money] on internet.

  9. I originally booked a cat. G on Liberty 3 weeks ago during the WOW sale. Last Wednesday, I paid $70 for the two of us to get an E1. Yesterday, D1-D3 were available for the same price of my original G. I called (the C&A line) and asked for an upgrade to a D1, and the rep looked into it, put me on hold, came back and said sorry, the rate was a weekend special for new bookings only. Will try tomorrow if there are cabins left. We sail on Thursday. Happy to have a balcony anyway.

  10. I tried looking at a photo of Liberty and counting the outside larger windows and appears to me that those end and smaller windows appear. Although these cabins are considered mid-ship, these cabins at one time were built in unoccupied dining room space.

This is strictly a curiosity question. Hardly in the room anyway! Nothing much to look at on a 4 night cruise & one stop in Cozumel where we're going to be spending most the day on the beach!

  11. I've always had My Time dining (or whatever it's called on other lines too). I don't recall how long the whole dining experience takes once seated. I'm guessing 1.5 to 2 hours. I've never really kept track. I will be traveling with a first time cruiser and we'd like to know how long to set aside. I know we can eat in the buffet for the quickest meal, but prefer to be waited on.
