  1. Hahahaha good read, interesting perspective.

    Thanks for your review.

Holland is not known as a line that caters to kids.

I'm surprised you weren't aware of that.

I'm taking my first HA trip in a month, really looking forward to it, same trip as you, same ship.

Thanks for the heads up on the buffet. We will probably skip it.

  2. We were on Celebritys Infinity last year and spent time in Buenos Aires before the sailing.

We booked Iguazu on our own. Booked the airfare and hotel Sheraton in the Park. Took a taxi to the Sheraton and back to the airport 4 days later. 3 days in the park was wonderful.

There are upper and lower trails. You an do them on different days, taking your time, not rushing to see it all in 1 day. The day we arrived we took a short walk to the falls, the second day we hiked the lower falls, the third day we hiked the upper falls.

We booked a Falls view room. It was worth it, book a high floor level to see the falls.

I'm very happy we took the time and spent the money to do this side trip.

  3. Any Caribe deck balcony (on the Grand class and Crown class ships) has the 9 by 9 balcony, partly covered. That is good by most of our standards.

The only thing concerning about the 200 cabins is that they are forward. Depending on the itinerary and time of year, the forward cabins can be bouncy. We have cruised in a number of C200s and loved it. The fares are cheaper, and my wife and I don't find that movement equals seasickness.

Jim, thanks for your quick response! I like movement and the price is right, we will book them today! :D

  4. HI, I actually was able to download your drink document, so now I would just like your permission to use it.

    Thanks again:)

Dana, Wow....what a fantastic review. I've taken a couple of days to read it and see your amazing photos!

We will be on the Equinox next May, 2017. This was such a fun way to see the ship.

How can I get the drink document? We may try your plan, sharing tastes of course. :D

  5. We did a back-to-back Dec 2014 ... write up starts with this blog post. It really is a wonderful itinerary.

If you're looking at an itinerary that goes around Cape Horn ... be prepared with cold weather gear. There were a surprising number of people on our sailing who had come unprepared ... the Infinity gift shop did brisk business selling fleece jackets, wool caps, and gloves.

Our cruise in Feb 2016 was very mild. Most I wore was a hat, gloves, rain jacket, sweatshirt and scarf, while on our balcony going around the horn. Wore a rain jacket with sweatshirt under it for ports that were way south.....had to take rain jacket off most of the time. We were blessed with amazing weather. Captain kept mentioning it on his daily announcements.

On the other hand in Buenos Aires and Iguazu, it was boiling hot!!!! They were having a heat wave, temps in the mid 90s!

Need to be prepared for any kind of weather on this cruise.

  6. We took the Infinity from BA around Cape Horn in Jan-Feb of this year, 2016.

It was our favorite cruise! Weather was amazing. No rough seas. We were in Aqua and ate every meal in BLU, it was outstanding.

Spent 5 nights in BA before the cruise, and 2 nights at the Sheraton in the park in Iguazu. Be sure to take the trip to these magnificent falls, if you have the time. Well worth the time and expense.

  7. We are hoping that the ship will offer some sort of tour and drop off at the airport, but no one seems to know anything yet.

ok I contacted someone who wants $400 now.....YIKEs....for tour and airport drop off.

Am being scammed I'm afraid or else it's OLYMPIC madness.

  8. do not miss the falls. We stayed 2 nights at the Sheraton in Argentina right in the park. We did the lower falls walk one day and the upper falls hike the second day. Plus the Devils Throat. These are the most spectacular falls in the world, you can walk over, next to, and all around them in the park. Many birds and other small animals to see as well. I highly recommend them. Well worth the flight and time spent there.

  9. We were on the Infinity in Feb-March.

We had an Aqua room and took a tour of the Persian Gardens. That's all it took, one look at that place and we never went back. It's DARK. No natural light at all.

I found it to be downright creepy. No individual loungers, just a semi circle bench, can't even lay on it. No thanks.

  10. We have done four cruises on Infinity. The last one was January 2014 Around the Horn of South America. It was a great cruise, but we had some neighbors that insisted on smoking on their balconies. We had 7171 and the occupants of 7169 and 7167 that were upwind of us persisted in smoking. I reported incidents four times, and saw a lady in 7169 smoking on the balcony and on another occasion, smoke coming from 7167. The Housing Manager took care warning the people (by the way, they were speaking German, not sure where they were from). After about five days, the smoking stopped, then about three days prior to the end of the cruise, it started back. Again, I reported it, twice more. The housing manager said that they could fine the individuals a couple of thousand dollars, but they didn't have enough proof. I mentioned that I saw the one woman smoking. Apparently, that was not enough. I think it was near the end of the cruise and Celebrity didn't want to fine them on the last day or two of the cruise. We had never had this problem before on Celebrity.

You get a different mix of passenger depending on your cruise. The Around the Horn cruise tends to include South Americans and lots of Europeans. My sense is that smoking is still more popular in some parts of the World. Some just don't want to give it up, even on their balcony.

We sailed on the Infinity February-March 2016 South America cruise. The quote above was someone who sailed the Infinity 2 years ago!

    "Times they are a changin"

Most people know where to smoke. There are set places to light up.

I never saw or smelled any smoke other than where people were allowed to smoke.

There were many different nationalities on this cruise. I believe most of the world knows the rules on ships now and smoke only where they should.

The Infinity is a great ship, well kept up. We found the crew to be very friendly. I wouldn't hesitate to cruise on her again.

  11. In my opinion, dining in Blu is the main reason for booking Aqua.

It is my favorite dining venue on the ship!

Will always try to book Aqua from now on.

We never made it to breakfast, but ate almost every dinner of our two week cruise in Blu

  12. I was on the Infinity Feb 28, 2016, Buenos Aires to Valparaiso.

We cruised in Aqua cabin on deck 9.

We really enjoyed dining in BLU. Outstanding service and food.

The buffet was pretty good, we ate there for breakfast, occasional lunch and one dinner.

The ship is clean, a bit dated, however we like the smaller, older ships.

Our cabin had a few stains on the carpet, and the shower leaked like crazy.

We had enough towels to sop up the water after our showers.

The shows in the main theater were great fun. Some better than others, most very enjoyable.

The shows in the lounges were good.

We really enjoyed our cruise and would cruise on the Infinity again.

  13. Blu was the thing we enjoyed the most about Aqua class.

    First class service and food.

We asked to be seated in our favorite server's station. Often we had to wait a bit but it was worth it to be called by name from day one.

We tried different servers after the first night, none were as attentive as the first server, so we went back to her after 3 nights. It was a 2 week cruise.

We sat at the tables for two, often speaking to others seated next to us, as the tables are close together it's easy to strike up a conversation.

Thinking of booking Aqua again, because of BLU

We never had breakfast in Blu, as we aren't big breakfast eaters.

We mostly went to the spa café for blended fresh veggie, fruit drinks for breakfast.

Occasionally we'd pop up to the buffet for a hearty late breakfast and skip lunch.
