  1. If Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines (RCCL as anyone can see by their web page) were to bring the Voyager back here it would be amazing.

it does seem there are a lot more mean, cranky people  here than the last time I visited these boards several years ago.

First I would say that claiming RCCL could not make profits here is challenged every week by Princess, Carnival, Holland America and Norwegian, who all seem to be sailing full (in normal times)

Second, California doesn’t have any problem with the other cruise lines operating here so the colloquial attacks on our government are unfounded.

Next, Southern Californians don’t need to go on a cruise to enjoy beaches.

Then, considerIng that Royal Caribbean is yanking ships and sending them to scrap.  I think sparing just one for the West Coast is not unreasonable.  Of course I sent a message to them, which is yet unanswered.

We have had great fun sailing Princess, HAL and Norwegian since Royal Caribbean left here but sure would love to enjoy Royal Caribbean again.  ( I take that back, we didn’t enjoy Norwegian Bliss at all even though it was a beautiful, brand new ship)

  2. Royal Caribbean is my favorite cruise line but you abandoned us here in .California.  I notice you are currently scrapping some of our favorite ships.  So I ask, can’t you send just one to us out here on the West Coast? Just one?

I’m sure there are tons of other people like me that would love to sail on Royal Caribbean from Southern California again.

  3. We sailed Allure twice, in 11727 and 11729 (the last two cabins). It offered a unique experience you can’t get on other ships.

We had great views of the aqua theater and ocean. It was a lot of fun. There is more noise.

It is a long walk o the elevators but you can take the aft stairs down and get breakfast at Johnny rockets. Very convenient

We did it twice, loved it, but next time we’ll most likely get a traditional ov balcony closer to midship

  4. 1) RCCL may have no idea if a customer had 3rd party insurance to refund the cruise cost. A person I know had to cancel their cruise at the last minute because of work. Their company reimbursed them for the loss.

So you have to board the ship to get the points

    2) we purchased a cruise for others as a gift. We paid, they sailed. They got the C&A points.

    Makes sense to me.

  5. I used to think nothing of having 12 beers or drinks in an evening and not being close to drunk. Of course that was in my 20s and we were running around and dancing and burning it off before it even hit.

Now in my 60s 3 drinks will pretty much put me to sleep.

I recently went on a cruise and decided to try a premium drinks package. I figured it took six drinks a day to break even. It was a job trying to drink that much for me and by the third day I quit trying.

Not that I didn't WANT to have six or more drinks per day 😎

  6. I booked Alleure last December for a November cruise this year.

I Che k prices every week and so far, with all the fake sales and gymnastics, the bottom line price has only dipped below mine once, by $20. It has gone up as much as $100

I think all their sales and promotions are BOGus and there is no such thing as a deal anymore.

Now Princess has some great deals and their 'Drop and Go' last minute sales can be tremendous.

  7. Suites used to get you a butler. I don't think you get that anymore. When we sailed in our first Grand Suite not only was there no butler, there was barely a Concierge available. And she was shared between the suites and all the diamonds, diamond pluses and pinnacles.

If anything I think the suite experience has been diminished.

  8. ...the few waiters that were in the area seemed to be annoyed that we were serving our selves.

Well that could be because a few weeks ago there was a norovirus episode on the Crown Princess. They had to deep clean the ship a couple of times and all foods and drinks were served by staff. Even the buffet was staffed and passengers weren't allowed to touch serving utensils.

So, they might have still been thinking about that.

It was for your benefit, to keep from getting sick.

  9. We took a 3 night cruise to Ensenada on the Crown Princess just a few weeks ago and loved it.

The only other choice for a 3/4 night cruise out of Southern California are some very old Carnival ships so Princess it was to be.

The ship was clean, food was plentiful and there were lots of places to hang out. It was too cold that week for pools. Maybe that's the problem? People don't think it can be cold at sea in January/February?

All in all, I loved the Crown Princess and will go again.

  10. I would pick the Caribbean Princess for the ports. The Princess ships have many little spots that make the ships very pleasant. You have to look for them

I am a fan of Adagio's bar and the aft pool area. Plus movies under the stars is one of my favorites.

I haven't yet been on Celebrity but think they're next after our Allure cruise in November.

But, for me, ports win on this one.
