I booked through them this morning and was told I could not have both OBC and suite discount. I took the OBC for $300.00. I agree we are buying points but these points put us at Diamond plus. I'm sure we will never reach pinnacle so we will just be happy with diamond plus. The cruises have seemed high anyways so now I won't feel bad about shopping around!
I'm sure what I thought I saw was a mistake. I can't find evidence of getting both benefits.
Congratulations on your booking.

That decision was made before the new CEO took office.
That's ok. I still don't like him. :D

No Pin???
OMG!!! How will others know that you are special? Maybe wear the Tiara instead?
Tiara! I never got a Tiara. Now I'm really mad! ;)

We were supposed to get a pin? Been Diamond three cruises now, never got one. No biggie.

I would gladly have the Monarch back in Los Angeles. I would happily sail the Empress too.
We've been cheated by RCCL. Used to have Legend, Vision, Mariner, Monarch and the Nordic Prince. Now we have nothing at all.
I do not like the new CEO because of this.

I am not finding that to be true on the Royal booking site. $300 appears as OBC if I do not enter my C&A number. When I enter that, the C&A Balcony discount is displayed but no OBC. Am I doing something wrong? How do I get both today? Thanks.

I think it's a crapshoot glitch in their system. I saw it once then not again. Although I booked a November cruise and got both.
The Summer Suite prices were higher than I liked, just for buying loyalty points.

For some reason today (only?) you get both OBC and C&A discount

You can always get a lounge chair on the Promenade deck. It's the traditional public deck, like ships of old. There are few people out there and you can sit and read or nap or just watch the ocean with little noise or distractions.

Whereas this was my standard balcony on Ruby:
Yep that looks familiar. Not to mention the bathroom was as small as those on the old Monarch of the Seas back in the 90s

We just sailed Ruby Princess a month ago and much prefer RCCL. The ships are more open and grand and the atmosphere on Royal Caribbean suits us better.
i wasn't impressed with the food on Ruby Princess and the traditional wait staff was slow. (you could not get a refill on iced tea or coffee to save your life).
We are sailing on Royal Caribbean next but since RCCL abandoned California we will likely go on Princess again. Or maybe try Norwegion?
I do have to say it was fun sailing Princess on their 50th anniversary year.

No More Rita's Cantina and secret balconies??
that sucks. I'm really sad now :(

For the Western Caribbean i think Freedom gets another stop in the Cayman Islands that Allure doesn't.

It's all a show.

Like several others have mentioned, our next cruise is scheduled for the Allure in January 2012.
Since I had a lot of unused RCI Visa points, we are going for 1/2 price.
I don't look forward to this monster ship but DW insisted. I like ships to be ships. There are plenty of concrete malls on land, I don't need them at sea.
This will probably be our last Royal Caribbean cruise. They left California a few years ago and now seem to be abandoning the Caribbean. No more round trip Hawaii either.
We sailed on the Emerald Princess in 2009 and I think we will be moving over to Princess. I would like to try Celebrity but overall I have grown tired of Royal Caribbean and their continuous move down market.
So, one more and then Good Bye RCCL. :(

Okay I must apologize. Although I was joking around I have to say I don't know the new CEO and how can I dislike him?
I will say I dislike some of the changes being made at Royal Caribbean,
I hope anyone who may read this will accept my apology.
