  1. 41594_200736335550_9166_q.jpgMichael Kors - The Official Page Such a tough decision on Project Runway this year. Unfortunately two people can't win. Thought Gretchen's wearable, relaxed chic was a different attitude for PR. Both Mondo and Gretchen, SO talented. BOTH will have great futures! - MK

I think this is an interesting comment .. after he mentioned on the show that Mondo's line was reminiscent of Seth Aaron's runway look from last season. Perhaps that "different attitude for PR" explains some of his reasoning.

  2. My goodness .. it was pointed out to me that I in fact own a Gretchen Jones design .. and didn't realize it. Her line is called "MothLove" (anyone surprised ?) ... but a few years ago it was all accessories and she did some rather clever belts from vintage scrap leather. I was given one as a gift and I must say I really like it a lot. She also did a lot of pheasant feather headbands that were quite the fad for a bit here ..

  3. And another thing .. Mondo's is "too young" .. who is going to wear the shorts in Gretchen's collection ?

I see several things in Mondo's collection that I would wear on a cruise in a hot second.

I actually cannot see myself in any of Gretchen's .. but let me disclaim that by saying I have seen things that she did before PR that I would wear constantly so maybe the personality has colored my thinking .. and maybe the color's etc in her line is just so wrong for me that I discounted it out of hand.

  4. Tough episode to watch .. I don't remember ever seeing anyone crumble quite like that .. and it is too bad because I really liked two out of three of his looks this time. The feathers were cringe inducing when they made that skinny model look large.

Gretchen's looks were just blah to me.. and not really anything new. Heidi may have said "why not" to the back of her "eleventh" look .. but I can think of a whole lot of reasons why not ...

I liked Andy's green dress (if it had about 3 more inches on the bottom) and I actually thought the romper was kind of fun.. but the bikini .... not so much.

Not sure I agree with Heidi that Mondo's polka dot dress was sophisticated but I thought it was fun ..and could be worn on a cruise .. just picture it with bright red or yellow accessories. His other looks were cute but not really as interesting as I was expecting. Still he hasn't shown anything that makes me think he won't win this.

I also wanted to comment on the head pieces. Andy had some fabulous ones on his work table when Tim visited .. and then he chose those for the runway .. think Andy think!

  5. Evil thought one .. Ivy must be fit to be tied now that Michael C is showing at Fashion Week ..

    Evil thought two .. Really ???? Gretchen ??? How ??? Why ???

My happy thoughts .. I just don't see how Mondo can lose .. he is so much more creative than the others.

April .. now we have a lingerie like look that only Cruella De Ville would wear if she knew no one was going to see her

Andy .. edgy but still the same as everything else he has done

    Gretchen .. just say no

Michael C .. wearable if you are young and daring enough .. make that back with a little more coverage and it would work on a cruise

Mondo .. I like him better when he does color but I still would wear that in a heartbeat.

  6. Would love to see the show if you can post it. Thanks! I think Seth Aaron is a fabulous designer and would love to see what he's up to.

I take issue with the writer of this article.....

    >>>>>But let's crack open that mossy stereotype and let in a breath of fresh air: Portland is home to a busy, growing community of fashion-conscious, do-it-yourself designers, and has been for years. That scene has gained national attention, thanks to Portlanders and a Vancourverite competing in recent years on the cable fashion design show, "Project Runway." <<<<<<<

    DO IT YOURSELF DESIGNERS???

What are they in her opinion, little homemakers who stay at home and whip up a skirt in order to save money?

Could the writer of the article insult these designers any more? Not the sharpest knife in the drawer!

It's not a video .. but at the bottom of this you will find pictures of all the designs from the 4 past PR contestants (didn't realize that Gordana was showing as well)

  7. I think that was an inappropriate challenge: make clothes that look like my drab, boring line (OK, maybe if I'd had more time to study Heidi's line, I might have felt different -- nah, probably not).

Her new line is on Amazon today and drab is right .. don't like it at all

I just read a lot of your book blog and it is wonderful. As a huge reader myself I must say i agree with many of your reviews (probably why I found it so entertaining !) I got a Kindle last year and I am finding it has opened up a whole new array of authors through the "free" books section. They are often a debut author (who will be on there for a few days and then on the buy it list) or the last book my an author that is coming out with something new or a who knows why its on there book .. but at the price of free I am really broadening my reading horizens! I have bookmarked your blog and will be watching it from now on :)

  8. Much ado about nobody ... Ivy is doing herself no favors either .. she is a good seamstress but not a good enough designer to do that and I was disappointed in April for backing her up. Oh well .. drama was probably needed about now

Since I work at home, I pretty much live in comfy knits (ok sweats) and I did like some of the designs. I did think that Andy won this .. but I question April's lingerie for this line... move on from that look April!

I like a couple of Mondo's pieces as well.

Christopher is not memorable .. he never seemed to stand out in the crowd and I actually had to go back a look to see what he has done in the past..the orangeman was right about how cheap these looked.

Oh and .. I miss Cassanova .. that smile and his attitude was great last night!

  9. So it is pretty much unanimous .. we want Gretchen to be the cheater ??

I have seen some of her things here in town and when she isn't trying to be "runway" or her interpretation of it she does some very wearable things that I wouldn't mind having in my casual wardrobe. But what she has done on the show is not good IMHO.

I also hope it is Andy and Mondo but I am really on the fence about April. I don't like her baby doll stuff at all but I did like the idea of the dress she did this week. I am not sure I like the actual dress except in comparison to the other messes. It could be either her or Michael for the final one in the top three as far as I am concerned.

  10. Well most of the clothes were boring or blah .. but I breathed a sigh of relief when they didn't send Andy home for that mess he put out there. His body of work is significantly better than Valeri's .

Interesting episode .. lots of backstory and tears .. but I am really waiting to see next weeks .. what a Teaser that was!!

Congrats to Mondo .. again the clear winner.

  11. I wanted to pick one from column A and one from Column B .. loved mondo's off the rack (or whatever) and loved Andy's Couture ..

Both Gretchen and April have gotten to be very one-note .. drapy, dowdy or sex kitten lingerie .. boring.

At least one could wear Valerie's white gown .. no one would look good in those messes of Ivy's!

  12. We were on a cruise last week so I just watched it on Lifetime .. man are they so young they don't get Jackie at all .. well except Mondo .. that was the clearest winner all season to me.

Even if he hadn't had the clearest winning design .. it would have been worth it to have him win just to see Ivy's face! Gretchen doesn't hide her good opinion of herself when she is just in the middle of the pack either .. does she?

  13. One more PR for me before the cruise .. thank goodness for Tivo!!

Gretchen digs herself in deeper and deeper .. but I agree with the judges on who went home. His look was just ick!

I liked Casanova's pants .. but I would wear the camel slacks from the other collection.

Interesting who stepped up .. imagine Peach doing something different !

  14. I always love the "alternative materials" challenge .. it simply amazes me what they can do with basically not much!! I think the right person won .. that was some dress !!

Again, I watched Tim Gunn's afterward and he also mentioned that there are more sides to all these designers which will become more readily apparent as the season goes on.. he seemed to be specifically addressing the way Gretchen is being perceived. I guess time will tell there but she certainly isn't making the other designers happy and I admit the way it is edited I wanted to tell her to shut up too !!
