  1. OK, after reading this thread for the last several months, my first cruise is now over (and it was fantastic)

So now I will post my best photo, or should I say photos as it was to large to fit on one shot. Just hope I can take it somewhere and have it put together.l

Let me set the mood, woke up early before arriving in Barbados, wanted to see get photos of sunrise, but was rainy so that didn't happen. Ate breakfast while it rained wondering if we would get to do our excursion. Arrived back at the cabin about 8 and walked out onto the balcony to what was the most beautiful site. (then took off running for the top deck!!)

After bidding for the last month, I was finally accepted also at the El San Juan. I too had hoped for the Marriot or one of the others, but after looking at the website and photos, I am sure we will be happy.

We got the El San Jaun for $142 ($171 w/taxes) for Nov. 14th for one night. I still feel like I got a really good deal.

I would also like to know what is within walking distance? We will get in about 5:00 friday night and will probably just stick near the hotel that night. We are kinda planning on checking out of the hotel early the next morning. Storing our luggage somewhere and spending the morning touring the forts, ect. Then heading to Pan AM pier around noon

  3. Still working on a hotel for 11/14-11/15. I am up to $135 and no bites. I am starting to get anxious (and I know I shouldn't) and will probably start going up. Is there a way to tell if something else is going on that weekend that I am not getting accepted?

Also thanks joonjie, that $40 for the day really seems like a great idea if we just feel like relaxing for the day.

  4. Kabux,

this is something we also hope to do when we finally get a hotel for pre-cruise. We are hoping to talk to whatever hotel we get and find out if we can get a pass for the day to come back at the end of our cruise. OUr return flight out isn't until 5:30 PM. I know you can actually "rent" a room for the day at some of the hotels, but the price is pretty high for a couple of hours. We would rather just be able to use the pool and changing rooms.

    Has anyone ever done this??

  5. Soxfan,

From what I have researched, it is never to early. I have only used priceline a couple of times and it was always last minute. But I am bidding now on November of this year. I have another hotel reserved as a back up and will continue to bid till I get something or until we leave home. From the way this thread sounds I should be able to get something for less than $150 which is what my backup hotel sells for and what I am willing to bid, just not yet!!

It is really an easy site to use, just start low once or twice till you get the feel for it and than you will understand the process.

  6. Great thread.

I am just starting to use priceline. This thread really helps. We need one pre cruise night 11/14/08. I bid three times this week in resort only for $85 I assumed this was to low, but thought I would give it a try. I am going to book the Comfort Inn (I can get it free with my points) as a back up and then just keep trying for a couple of months.

I think I may start trying $100-110. Terry, is your price of $110 including taxes or is that your bid??
