  1. There seem to be 11,000 passengers in Santorini on my day (Sept. 14th.) That is going with the high passenger count of the range for each ship. 4000 don't get in till 4:00 pm, the rest early am. They leave at 8,9,10,and 11 pm. Any thoughts on cable car waits to get back to the ship around 6 pm? I booked the ship excursion to get to Oia just to get that transportation set, but we won't have any time there before our sailing excursion. We have a catamaran sail that ends at 3:00 near or in Fira. It seems like to will be too late to visit Oia. Thoughts on Oia around 3:30-5:30pm? Will Fira be entertaining for a couple of hours, do you think? I am starting to think that it will be so crowded we will miss seeing Oia and Fira and end up going back to the ship. I am interested in anyone's thoughts. The late departure times seem like a wild card to me.
  2. Hi, There are quite a ew ships in port on our day in Santorini- September 14th. We are on the Infinity, which is in port until 10:00pm. I am debating about an early dinner in Fira or Oia around 4:30 pm, and aiming to get the the cable cars about 6:30, to get on ship by 8:00. I expect 9:00pm to be boarding. Clearly, I do not have 2-3 hours for a cable car wait if we have dinner. Any thoughts on whether it is necessary around 6:30, or whether I should skip the dinner idea? I was thinking about making a reservation for dinner as I expect so many people to be around, but my common sense says to just go with the flow and see what is going on at the time. Thanks for your thoughts!
  3. Hi, I am also trying to decide how to go to Delos. We normally do on our own. We will be on Celebrity Infinity in Sept., and I do not know which port it comes into, so I do not know how to decide if time needs to be left for getting to the right place. It look like both the ship and on your own leave at 10:00. am. The museum is currently closed, and I am concerned about being out for 3 .5 hours in the heat. Is there any other air - conditioned places to be in Delos? Is there a shop or cafe for snacks and drinks? The tours for both ship and on our own both seem to be for 3.5 hours- 10-1:30. Are we stuck there for the whole time, or do boats go back and forth and we can take an earlier one back? Thanks for any advice!
  4. Yes. On Ocean balconies too for 1/2024. I almost did not book, but when it was down to the last room I would take, we got out the calculator. We priced a land vacation for 5 nights, vs out cruise for 7, and cruise was still 80.00 cheaper. I paid 1315 pp. No tax, and I am used to 750-870 pp. I even gave up mid ship, but you can see it did not help much.
  5. Will do, as I will know tomorrow night!
  6. We are on Explorer tomorrow and have the 7 day UDP. I forgot that this class ship has so few specialty restaurants compared to the bigger ships. I just saw that we are assigned Chefs table for first night. We have never eaten there b/c of the upcharge with the UDP. Does Explorer have the same upcharge as other ships? .
  7. Thanks everyone! I decided to stay in my well-picked room for those picky about noise.
  8. Is there such a thing as a bad location for a jr or grande suite on explorer? Noise would be my big issue. I have never been tempted before , but 140 and 175 pp sounds pretty low. Never stayed in a suite.
  9. I would like a 20 or so person max, often listed as semi private, with stops at couple of beaches- not just near them, -swimming in hot springs, and enough seating for everyone. I have not found one where reviews either say all swimming is off boat or not enough seating. Have you a recommendation? I am 11 months out, but caldera Yachting is full or unavailable my day and one popular line does not want cruises b/c it will change its times if it wants to. Thanks for any suggestions!
  10. We have a 2:00 flight the day we get off the cruise. What would you recommend we do in Athens? Or should we just go to the airport. We will have plenty of luggage!
  11. I was looking forward to walking on and around the volcano/caldera area. Only 2 excursions seems to offer this . One that discourages cruisers and one that is unexpectedly and concerningly cheap. It that not a thing to do anymore? Is sailing around it now the norm?
  12. I would like to do a Delos guided tour and a Mykonos tour in the same day. All of the Delos tours seem to take four hours and include a beach break, which I do not need. The ship tour to Delos says very strenuous and need to stand for 2 hours. Does Delos need to be 4 hours and very strenuous? Is there a way to do a guided tour of shorter duration without the beach break?
  13. I remember when my husband and I were in our 30s and climbing a trail up a mountain in Phoenix. We stopped on a bench half way up, resting, and decided to call it and go back down , which we did. A couple in their 60s-70s passed us and urged us to continue on. They did this walk/climb everyday. That interaction makes me smile whenever the memory surfaces. Anyone that can make the long walk in full sun across the pier without needing medical attention looks like a good bet to me.
  14. I think Voyager class and above are all equally satisfying. Smaller, and the entertainment opportunities and variety of restaurants drop. By entertainment, I mean shows and live music. We don't do anything else, we just relax.
  15. I think you are right. The upper level Celebrity person I emailed said that di not say because of security concerns. Thanks for adding your thought.
  16. Thanks for the helpful responses! The pool idea is a good thought. I am going to move my room. Any knowledge of the white space above 7012? looks like the bridge 2 decks up, but the dreaded white space above the room. Although on pictures of the outside of the ship it looks like rooms. Thanks!
  17. Hi, Does anyone know what is above room 8077 on Infinity? It is white space. I usually book above and below rooms, but this is an indoor on a smaller ship, and I could not find that availability. I did run the room through the spreadsheet search . It is not listed. Thanks for your help!
