  1. It is a nice way for Oceania to reward you for being a loyal customer. A lot of companies do. Not a good thing for them to take that away. I think it sends the wrong message. :(

You have made that very clear in your 18 repetitive posts on this thread - over 10% of the thread.

Why not move on to other cruise lines and let us know if they give you everything to which you think you are entitled?

  2. there are some posters (one in particular) who is afraid of almost everything (muggings, infections, shoe-snatching, sea creatures, etc). Perhaps staying at home with an afghan pulled tightly around is the best option for the extremely fearful among us.

    +1.

  3. I think it's time for us to give this service a try.

The "Venice Experience" with heavy luggage brings back memories (ugh).

How nice it would have been to find that large bag just waiting in our suite on the ship, especially as we could have done without it for the pre-cruise days.

How does "pickup" work on a return, after a cruise?

    Thanks!

    GC

The company will have a rep waiting for you as you leave the luggage return area.

  4. thank you, thank you PaulChili--I appreciate you putting it all into perspective.

seriously .... people are considering not cruising on O because they have "lost" $100 at Platinum Level?

Well those who feel they are “entitled” to that $100 may do so.

What’s that expression about cutting off your nose.....?

  5. Two years ago I was on a 16 day cruise on Marina. Julie James was the cruise director. I thanked her for not making many announcements. She smiled and replied that Oceania guests "are not stupid"...and pointed out that they can read in the Currents what the activities are and that it would be rude to disturb them with unnecessary announcements. My sentiments exactly.

Julie is far and away our favorite cruise director and we have been on with many of them in 26 cruises.

  6. Not sure if this is accurate information, but I was told by my TA that Wavenet and Wavenet Prime will be offered this April to passengers booking a sailing in 2020. Not the same thing as free WiFi starting in April for 2018 cruisers. If anyone can provide a little more official information, it will be appreciated, as I was hoping to capture this benefit for our August sailing.

    Not accurate.

    Here’s the press release:

    March 14, 2018

(10:05 a.m. EDT) -- Oceania Cruises is joining other high-end cruise lines in offering free Wi-Fi to all passengers. The cruise line revealed today that unlimited, complimentary Internet access would be available across all of its ships by the end of April.

The new Wavenet high-speed internet service will allow passengers to do low-bandwidth activities, such as surf the Web and post to social media. Passengers who would like to stream music and movies or video chat with friends and family at home will need to upgrade to Wavenet Prime, at a cost of $9.99 per person, per day.

"With our new Wavenet high-speed internet, our guests and crew can continue to surf, post and stream aboard our ships from anywhere around the globe, just as they would at home," stated Bob Binder, president & CEO of Oceania Cruises, in a company statement.

The addition of free Wi-Fi brings Oceania in line with other upscale cruise companies, such as Viking Ocean Cruises, Crystal Cruises and sister line Regent Seven Seas Cruises, who all offer free, unlimited Internet access to passengers. Silversea offers an hour of free Wi-Fi to most passengers, with unlimited access for the top suites.

  7. Wow, just read that Viking will have 6 ships by 2019 with at least 6 more on order. All newer and just as nice as Oceania's. Who needs Oceania with all those choices. They keep taking away things than there will be a lot of empty ships in their fleet. And it will serve them right. Need to show their customers that they want to keep them which is not being done now. Too bad as we love O but will not let them take advantage of us. :(:(:(

I’m not sure how reducing a few perks in a year and a half is taking advantage of you but if that’s how sensitive you are, it’s just as well you move on and find something to complain about with Viking instead.

  8. we have traveled with oceania on the amazon river cruise, we knew we were in 3rd world locations, enjoyed every minute of the ports, have lived in panama 30 yrs. Ago and i sincerely think the negative comments and meetings with gm were not necessary. I hope this passengers remembers when he is 70+ that we does not want to be looked down upon. What an unkind person!! I am referring to the original poster boy's thread and i don't believe he will ever enjoy anything, do your research and open your mind, it might help!

    + 1

  9. We talked with several people, on our summer cruise that had done the Amazon trip, and none thought it worth the money. However, several raved about the National Geographic Upper Amazon Cruise which appears to be a completely better cruise all around. So we’re now planning one of NG combo cruise/tours of doing the Upper Amazon then flying off to do the Galápagos Islands in early 2020. We believe this combination will be far more enlightening and greater learning experience of those areas than anything Oceania offers.

Good choice. We’ve done the NG/Lindblad Upper Amazon and their Galapagos. Both were fabulous. The Amazon cruise on O was among the least interesting of our 26 O cruises.

  10. I guess we are “avid Oceania cruisers.” We have sailed twice on AMA and were very pleased with them. Our only other river cruise was on Scenic and we were not pleased with them. Food and service were poor. AMA food and service were excellent.

However, be aware that river cruises are very different from ocean cruises. We much prefer the latter.

  11. We leave in a couple of weeks for our first Oceania cruise and are wondering if we need to pack beach towels or does the ship provide them. Thanks, Jane.

The ship provides them. Request them from your cabin attendant. There will be a reminder card on your bed the day before any beach port.

  12. Thanks for the information. It doesn't sound that bad if we don't have to pack up all the hanging stuff. It sounds like we can set up a time after breakfast and just work together with the staff. Good reminder about the safe! The second stateroom is just 5 down the hall from the first. I guess we just exchange keycards at reception once we're moved?

Also, I have read on other posts that any extra SBC from the first cruise will be rolled over to the second, but when my TA asked Oceania that question, he was told "no rollover". What was your experience? I plan to bring it up once onboard, and hopefully the running tab will be kept running, even with a stateroom change. We're selecting SBC as our OLife amenity on the first cruise, and will have quite a bit since we also have prepaid gratuities, and club SBC. On the second cruise we're selecting the excursions, so we won't have as much SBC, though it'll be our 10th O cruise, so we'll get prepaid gratuities and $400 club SBC. This cruise visits 8 ports on a 10-day cruise, so we won't be sitting around drinking wine as much, which is how we spend most of our SBC!

If your new room is just 5 doors down, that is even better because chances are that you will have the same stateroom attendant. He or she will make the move easier.

We just got off a B2B on Marina two weeks ago. Our entire account rolled over to the second leg. Sometimes the O phone reps do not have accurate information. If you are worried about it, go to reception on your first leg and they will confirm that this is the policy.

Yes, you will get new keycards.
