It's ironic that plastic straws are removed as are the sailaway flags yet P and O do nothing to discourage passengers from leaving plastic ducks around the ships?
A strange one for me but I daresay some folks are getting pleasure from it. Perhaps I'm showing my age 😅
If they started hiding organic ducks things could get a bit smelly

I think Britboys is referring to Katie McAlister, new Cunard President, who used to be Chief Marketing Officer for TUI and not Paul Ludlow.
Oops, apologies Britboys.

Absolutely none on Arvia. Replaced in Epicurean with broad beans. Plenty of snow peas though.

“3 card poker is not my game but it was popular but the amount bet per hand was outside my limits”
hi Dave can you tell me what the bet per hand was please?
thanks
Pat
The minimum bet was £5 but there were a lot of side bet boxes as well. It seemed to me that a lot of players were ignoring the ante/raise bet and betting £10 on the pairs plus and some more. About £15 to £20 per hand. There is no skill in playing that way so you might as well play blind. Basically they were all chasing the £1000 maximum win. I got burnt chasing that over 10 years ago and blew over £1000. NEVER AGAIN 😠

Which will get even more enthusiastic when they find out the new Cunard President is fresh from 20 years with TUI....
I think he has worked for Carnival for over 20 years?

Do you know what the 'realistic' minimum bet for a blackjack hand is? I know casinos advertise low minimum bets, and then you can't find tables with them.
I enjoy the chat that can go on around a black jack table. Not quite as frenetic as roulette or craps.
£100 a hand, I assume someone that can afford to lose a lot of case. Not a bad way to launder money I suppose 🙂
P&O only have small casinos so there should be 2 blackjack tables and both have the same minimum bets etc as I have described, £5 minimum bet and 3:2 payout. I enjoy the social aspects of blackjack as well although I only came out ahead in 2 sessions last cruise. As a dealer said to me, you really know how to play the game but you just don't get dealt the right cards, story of my life 🙄
The roulette tables were frantic at times, i like to play in moderation but most nights you could not get near the table, luckily they would open the second one but you had to dive in quickly.

The problem with Ventura and Azura (and their Princess equivalents) is that they are based on the Grand Princess but with an extra deck of cabins added, increasing the passenger capacity by about 20%. But there is no more public space, indeed some has been lost to fit in yet more cabins! So when the ships are full they feel overcrowded as there are 6 people using space and facilities designed for 5.
Those extra cabins are the awful noisy single ones in what was the lounge area of the main bar. They were getting little income because it was full of people not drinking much.

Interesting that OBC seems to be rather hit and miss. I also applied for our upcoming cruise in September this year and was refused - Have to wait until 90 days prior.
Now wondering whether to give it a week or so and just try again!
They are more strict nowadays, wait until the 90 day period starts.

Not good for roulette then
2.7% house edge for single zero and 5.26% for double zero. Still a LOT better than playing the slots. the best house edge for players is about 0.5% if you play blackjack properly. However that is long term as the game is very streaky so you could have bad or good periods lasting weeks or even months. On my last cruise someone lost £1200 in an hour or so. They were betting £100 per hand

It's a battle I'm already gearing up to. I've been IF for a few weeks now and it'll be 3 months of working on my weight\blood sugars and getting fit when we sail. So while everyone else tucks in , I'll be super conscious of what I eat. Alcohol (cocktails) could well be my downfall. With that in mind, to avoid peer pressure, I may hide in the Casino.
Speaking of which, does anyone know which rules they use, and therefore the optimal strategy?
Roulette has 0 & 00, the chips are £1 and the minimum per spin is £5
Blackjack is 8 decks hand shuffle with £5 minimum bet and a 3:2 blackjack payout. European style so the dealer does not check for blackjack. Also a lucky pairs side bet
3 card poker is not my game but it was popular but the amount bet per hand was outside my limits.
Lots of modern machines and the cruise before mine someone won over £10,000. Don't know how much they put in though!

Thanks everyone. I now have several options and have a few weeks to make my decision.

Question, can you take a suit carrier and a carry on through security at embarkation in Southampton?

I will ask the question again, how many shirts do you pack for a 7, 14 and 21 night cruise?

Laundry is best bet. Sometimes special offers. Not overly expensive.
how much is a bag of laundry and how many shirts can you pack in it?
Can you use OBC?

I wonder why we get £150 for a 2 week cruise and the others get $250?
We should be getting £200 at the current exchange rate

Think port is cancelled we are leaving.. oh well .. can't so much about the weather and conditions. Speak tomorrow everyone. Are we insured for missed ports??
Are you not anchoring and then tendering? Was the cable car the one at Loen?

This one for the gentlemen concerning shirts.
How many shirts including day wear do you pack for the following cruises.
> 7 nights including 2 formals
> 14 nights including 4 formals
> 21 nights including 6 formals
I really don't want to spend hours in the launderette but do want to fit everything in one suitcase.
Any innovative tips and tricks not involving a second person.

Not everybody has problems.
Some people will always have problems with the App for medical reasons so P&O have to cater for them without any significant disadvantage to what their holiday experience would have been pre App. Or maybe they are following the herd and marginalising those who don't have a car, smart phone, computer etc.

I booked the Arcadia 21 night cruise to North Cape and Iceland recently. Balcony cabin for £1799.
Must not be selling well

One other tip for Epicurean. Most of the 6pm bookings (we were the last ones in I think) seem to get window seats as they are first in
That's always been the case for us so far at least
Which is why on Arvia last month they were queuing for Epicurian with the queue stretching back into the Crows Nest and here's me thinking Epicurian was all about the food when a seat with a view is vital for some. They should charge extra for a window seat.

P&O don't provide a shuttle at Haugesund and the private one is chargeable even for Select fare passengers. After 3 visits there is little left to see so I will stay aboard and save my legs.

You cannot get shingles from someone with chickenpox
You cannot get shingles from someone with shingles or chickenpox.
But you can get chickenpox from someone with shingles if you have not had chickenpox before.
When people get chickenpox, the virus remains in the body. It can be reactivated later and cause shingles if someone's immune system is lowered.
This can be because of stress, certain conditions, or treatments like chemotherapy.
