  1. We were just on the island on June 11 with the Breakaway. From reading posts I wasn't sure what we were walking into, but decided to try to get in a beach day. If it was horrible our plan was to return to the ship. The day was great. The island was beautiful. We walked further down the beach to get chairs. We found two with an umbrella in the second row back from the water. We were almost all the way to the beach cabanas. The water was nice but not entirely clear. That was not a problem for us. Breakaway is a large ship but it didn't feel like the beach was crowded at all. I would estimate that less than 1 in every 8 chairs was being used. There were clamshells, floating pads and other things for rent. We did get lunch at land shark. We had the fish sandwich and it was quite tasty. We knew it would be a cost like any other port and thought the prices, portions and quality were fine. We realize that it is not really a true picture of Belize, but we enjoyed our beach day. The shops were interesting. Although we did not go to the pool, we could see it from our table at the Landshark and it was lovely. We found nothing to complain about at all and would gladly go back there on another cruise.
  2. Just a quick question. Looking for a simple answer. When we get on the Breakaway on the embarkation day where is lunch offered? We are not Haven people. I am hoping for more options than the buffet. Thanks!
  3. We did the Pride of America 2 years ago. I believe it was the absolute best way to see the islands. The ship excursions will be fine and you will get to see so many amazing things. Before we sailed, I also read all the posts on these boards. I was prepared to be disappointed with the service from the crew because they were all Americans. I am not sure what the other members experienced, but my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the American crew. We could understand all of them and would ask them which state they were from to start a conversation. They had much more personality and we enjoyed the humor and quick come backs. It can sometimes feel with an international crew that they are groveling for a good review. That was never a feeling on Pride of America. It was not a ship with all the new bells and whistles, but we really enjoyed everything about it. I do not enjoy eating in the buffet, so we often went to the 50's coffee shop cafe for breakfast. It was never busy and there were tables to eat at outside. Do not worry about negative comments about your cruise. There are people who will complain about everything. Enjoy every minute! It was a trip of a lifetime for us
  4. When we sailed on the Sun with the drink package, the list of what was included was slightly different from the other ships. At that time it was called "Open Bar". I'm not sure if it is still the same or not. I think not having to think about the money you are spending each time you want a drink is a wonderful perk. I am not picky about what is included, just want to know what it is so we aren't surprised when we order. LOL
  5. I don't usually drink chocolate martinis, but I am sure that there are other things that fall into that category as well. I was disappointed with the choices of bourbon in the package we have, but not overly impressed with the choices in the premium plus either. My husband will have to make that decision. I am a vodka or gin drinker, so there are plenty of options for me. The description says that the specialty coffees are only in the dining room. So that eliminates the morning latte that I would have added to the list for the premium plus. At this point the upgrade to the Premium plus doesn't look like it is necessary for us. Thanks for your advice!
  6. Thanks to everyone for responding to my original post. I fear that I created more confusion than it was worth. I am pretty confident that I will enjoy the drink package that I selected as one of my perks, regardless of what it is called.
  7. My reservation for a cruise on Breakaway in June says we have 2 adult drink packages. Is that just another name for the premium drink package? I selected it as a perk and was wondering what alcohol is included. Can someone help me out with this? Thanks!
  8. I have only been on one Celebrity cruise. I upgraded my beverage package on board. I knew that I would probably end up at the martini bar, so I bought my upgrade there and the bartender got the commission on that upgrade. They remembered me and I got excellent service at the martini bar each and every time I showed up for a martini. So there were no lines and I feel it worked out very well for me.
  9. Cross your fingers for me! We are booked on one of the first sailings out of dry dock on March 25. I am so excited to have booked an aft balcony. Hopefully it will be done on time with no huge issues or forgotten upgrades. I expect that there will be things that won't go exactly as expected, but hopefully they will be easy to correct and not impact our trip!
  10. My favorites are all of the martinis at the martini bar that are not made with champagne.
  11. We will be sailing on Celebrity Summit at the end of March and are looking for a shore excursion. I usually prefer to arrange shore excursions with private companies and not use the ones from the ship, but we have OBC to use so we are looking at the list provided. We are considering the Island History and Rum Tasting. It is not an all day excursion. Just wondering if anyone has advice for us to spend the rest of the day. We would consider a beach or spending time in town. Not sure what would be close to the ship that we could fit in. Shopping is not high on our list, but we enjoy experiencing different towns or beaches. Thanks!
  12. I will look forward to your review. We are sailing on Summit in March after the big refurbishment is finished. This summer we sailed on Equinox and loved everything about it. We have been sailing Norwegian for many years as always enjoyed that as well, but we might have found a new favorite. I can only speak for Equinox, but I have never experienced a happier, friendlier staff than those on the Equinox. I think it set the tone for the trip and it seemed that all the passengers were friendly and happy as well. It was probably the best food we have ever had on a cruise, but we aren't very picky as long as someone else is cooking and cleaning up. LOL EnjoyAqua class and Blu. I thought it was wonderful!
  13. We booked the first sailing of the Summit after dry dock and the upgrades in March. At the time of booking, I was not aware of the refurbishment and now I am hoping that it will all go as scheduled. We are in an Aqua aft balcony cabin. I think the renderings look wonderful and with 2 perks included, the cost of our trip does not seem unreasonable. They are certainly competitive with Norwegian and I feel the customer service is much better. So I am confused by the comments about Celebrity pricing themselves out of the market. This will be our second cruise on Celebrity so we are not considered frequent cruisers. We will probably never book a suite but we do enjoy Aqua Class and Blu. We have our fingers crossed as we look forward to our March trip.
  14. We just got off Equinox on Saturday. Hubby and I each had the classic drink package as a perk. I wanted to upgrade to premium. I missed the sale prior to our sailing. I purchased the upgrade on the first day from a bartender at the martini bar. The discount was one day free. So pay for 6 days and get 7. The best part was the outstanding service I got from the martini bar the rest of the cruise. I just realized that I didn’t read close enough to know if you are upgrading or purchasing. Not sure if it matters. I was told the person that sells you the package or upgrade gets the 18% gratuity. Sure seemed like that was true. Find a bar you will be going to often and buy it there.
