  1. From the image, the closets are the brown cabinets connected to the bathroom. I was hoping there was a walk in closet somewhere.

What was shared with us there is no walk-in closet in these cabins. They are either on the backside of the bathroom or as Steve mentioned it appears to be a wall of built-in cabinets near the large aft window.

  2. We booked a corner Grand Suite (SE3) on deck 13. The MSC agent sent me this picture when I asked him for the layout of the suite. Can anyone confirm the accuracy of this photo??

The Seaside Aft "Condo" Suites as MSC calls them do not have a wall separating the sleeping area and the living area. It is all in one.

The drawing posted about 10 pages back and the one on the previous page to this is pretty accurate as to what to expect based on a drawing a high ranking MSC official shared with our TA (who promised not to share but was allowed to describe).

  3. I have done a bit of copy and pasting to see how furniture and fittings will fit into the space of the AFT cabins on a scale plan. I have taken elements from other room layouts and placed them, to scale, as per the deck plans.

A little optimistic with the 4 deck chair and 2 couches.. but.. hey there certainly is enough space for them[emoji6]. PLEASE NOTE THIS IS NOT OFFICIAL!! This is just my vision of what could be..

That is close to the MSC drawing that was shared with our TA by a MSC rep except the bed and sofa are reversed and there is also only one sofa

  4. Locker / changing rooms with showers, plus steam rooms and saunas (all are single sex). There aren't any "rain forest" type shower areas, and there isn't a designated heated-tile lounge-bed, though there is a peaceful, co-ed area outside of the steam rooms & saunas which overlook the port side of the ship - repleat with lounge chairs.

Are you discussing Divina here because Seaside info has not been released and could be totally different.

  5. Wow. This is interesting and reminds me of the old days (and Im "only" 50 lol). Lookkng back, I hated the days of running on the ship, dividing up, my dh going to spa to make ressies while I ran from restaurant to restaurant to make our specialty dining.

While Ill be in YC and will just give the concierge our preferences, I would find this annoying in any other cabin category and a waste of time for something that could very easily be done online.

    Thank you for this information.

Luckily you can do all this from your cabin TV or a kiosk on the ship so you don't have to run around anymore.

  6. Has anyone pre-booked a specialty restaurant on Seaside? if yes, how long in advance did the pre-booking become available online? I will be on Seaview in July 2018 and the specialty restaurants are not available online yet. Thanks

You don’t prebook them per MSC. You make the reservations once onboard.

If this helps, spoke with our cruise consultant at MSC yesterday (we are booked on Seaside sailing 6 January 2018) she stated that St Maarten will be changed to Antigua due to damage suffered which will take longer to accommodate cruise ships again.

I personally don't believe much from the consultants these days. 99% is speculation as no two people working for MSC can tell you the same thing about anything ;)

Antigua would be great but not even sure their port can handle the size of Seaside or do I think MSC has the pull to take slots away from RC, Carnival and Disney if there becomes a get in line approach to who gets what ports on what days. Those three have been supporting the Islands much longer and have a stronger "attachment" with the other lines.

  8. I saw on the Facebook page they are moving the Divina stop from St Maarten to Antigua any thoughts of they will do the same to Seaside?

Based on a USA Today cruise article until officials on St. Maarten, St. John, Tortola, etc. make announcements they are ready for passengers again and cruise lines visit these islands to ensure they are acceptable most cruise lines will be making itinerary changes 30-60 days out max so we won't know about Seaside for sometime yet.

Also, with so many ports out of commission for the first time cruise lines are having to work together to determine where and when everyone can go as not all ports can handle multiples of ships per day and not all ports can handle all sizes of ships.

Then the fact that there are currently three storms in the Atlantic with one expected to make landfall on the exact same islands this week everything is up for changes.

  9. Article I read today (USA Today I think it was) said that all major cruise lines are concentrating on evaluations/relief efforts and the next 30 days of passenger cruises. From there they will handle things 30-45 out so just because they do something now does not mean that is the solution for say November and beyond.

  10. The problem is that if customs decides to board the ship and do an inspection or if one crew member has the wrong paperwork they can, will and have "locked" down a ship and no one gets off until customs approved the ship. This is why the suggest you never fly our before 12/1 pm.

We have a 4:00 pm home, we will rent a car at the port, drive to the beach and then go to the airport in the afternoon. This way we aren't stuck at the airport with all our luggage.

  11. Kelly, we have done the post cruise rental with Hertz at Miami and my suggestion would be to forgo the shuttle unless it's right there and plenty of space is available. Disembarkation is always a madhouse and taking a cab or Uber/Lyft is just so much easier. That is what we did.

Granted, you pay for it. Also, the Miami Hertz port location was packed and I would not recommend it unless you have a great discount.

    Thank you

We are also considering Uber, we have a late afternoon flight home so thought a car would be easier as we could see the beach and store luggage in the car. Lots of time to decide, we don't sail until April :)

  12. If they can do it safely they will sail although maybe not south initially.

I have seen cruise lines head way out into the Atlantic to avoid a hurricane and then head south, I have seen cruise lines head way out and then north completely skipping the Caribbean. I have also seen cruise lines bring a ship in, unload passengers, change the next cruise to depart a day or two later and get the ship back out immediately with just crew on-board to a safe area of the ocean. So many possibilities.
