Security Update: StarLink Internet on RCL
Kokomo91165 replied to Kokomo91165's topic in Royal Caribbean International
It has always worked onboard before. Same computer. -
On Symphony of the Seas right now and my work computer will not connect to RCL internet. The IT team onboard pin pointed the problem to a security update that Royal did earlier in October that is now more restrictive on company issued VPNs and firewalls. No way to turn mine off and onboard team just basically shrugged their shoulders. Several others onboard too had same issue. Be careful if needing to check emails while on vacation. Anyone else seeing this?

Amazing news on Starlink! Hopefully that helps some. Thank you!

Can anyone report lately how the premium internet on Silhouette has been? Particular wondering if I could do teams or wifi calling for meetings. Thanks!

If you booked during the promo, but changed ship & sail date to later in 2022, did you still get double points on your booking? Promo was book by September 30, 2021 and sail by 12/31/2022.

Star Link vs. Voom Internet
Kokomo91165 replied to Kokomo91165's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Ok that makes sense. We are at 4.5mps to 5.5mps. Seeing other ships at 100+mps. -
Is anyone else finding starlink to be slower than Voom? Currently on SY and while the speed is fast, it is taking longer to download webpages and frequently drops wifi calling.

Right around there is my guess. Many more years of cruising ahead for him. Lucky! -

He’ll out live us all 😂. Can you imagine cruising in 50 years time? -
Young Pinnacle on Allure

No soliciting from what I’ve seen. Keeps to himself. At Top Tier he was top cruiser and LA said has been cruising since 1994. -
I know “we” as pinnacles sometime get a bad name onboard, but I did want to recognize something positive for a change. There is a young man onboard Allure currently - officers said in his 20s - who has 2,000+ points. Wears no badge. See him usually on phone or computer in lounge. However, the officers and crew onboard think the world of him. Well mannered, kind, caring and generous. In today’s world, nice to see a young person enjoying cruising and remembering to be kind to others.

100% agree and we are. Just lack of transparency from ship is what irks me. -

COVID-19 outbreak indicates potentially extensive transmission within a setting or organization. -

My wife’s Oxygen rate plummeted into the 80s. -
Just returned from b2b sailings on Symphony of the Seas yesterday. COVID was running rampant through the ship mid week - cast of shows were getting it, crew went “missing”, and pax were being taken to quarantine - so much so that they RAN OUT OF ROOM for quarantine pax. 6,000 pax with close to 2,000 kids. Cleaning standards not what they use to be based on observation - crew just stretched too thin and really only equipped to handle 50% capacity. Guest Services denied any issues onboard. Family now positive, along with countless others online. Ambulances and quarantine vehicles were lined up to take people off ship in Miami. Sitting in the ER tonight and Royal is of zero help getting us back home since we tested positive “off the ship.”

Got my protocols for upcoming transatlantic cruise. For a stop in Spain, do we need to do anything? We are not flying in - do we need a form or QR code? Very confusing, as RCLs link takes you to a page where you Input flight numbers.

Special thanks to Mysticks1 on the Celebrity Cruises forum for this idea. I would like to begin to assemble one for Royal Caribbean. To the moderators, I would appreciate if we could make this a "sticky" at the top of the page for all to see. Every week or two I will post a PDF for all the ships and cabin information compiled here. Please, refrain from posting cabin questions here so this can purely be an informative thread, especially for those that are first time cruisers or seasoned cruisers looking for a great cabin. The template is as follows: Ship - Deck - Stateroom # - Stateroom Category – Starboard or Port Side - Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) – Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Was wind a problem? - If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - Any specific problems with this cabin? - Any other comments? -
