We are in the YC next September for first time and also First MSC Cruise ( Typically Haven on NCL but for YC for $3200 could pass it up for 7 night cruise) Glad to hear that Beer is stocked daily as my wife and I are typically beer drinkers.

If you tell your butler he/she will fill your fridge with beer!

Cell phone/tablet and the MSC App using the Chat feature

But if your elderly relatives ask you for help via cellphone or chat won't you help them even if you are on a different deck?

Butlers usually do not play the role of companion or are required to help with mobility.

May not be required but they are very helpfull. To give a helping hand is not a problem for them.

A Butler isn't standing in the room. You would have to call them, there is no phone near the sofa, no phone near the balcony. Butlers have multiple cabins assigned so there will be a wait for service at some point. Starts pouring rain while sitting on the balcony, okay wait for the Butler...

I understand everything you say but if you need to rely on a relative for help, won't you have to call them too?

After, we decided to get off the boat. Now remember, as long as you are doing your own exploring and/or excursion you get priority when leaving. Otherwise, you will wait with everyone else to leave the boat if you book an excursion through the ship.

That's not how it's normally done. When going on a shipexcursion you will be escorted from the lounge to the bus. We did that last week and every time we were the first to board the bus.

Mini bar is included in YC...rules have changed a little and I think you don't get free refills anymore. I say think because while that's the official line, when I last sailed they did replace certain items...I don't do a lot of mini bar so not sure if they would have replaced others

No more small alcohol bottles in the YC minibar but instead you get one large bottle of liquor or Champagne.

    No refills of the snacks.

Beer and soda is refilled every day.

But, the market is clearly heading in an upward trend regarding prices. I guess the need to be so cheap has gone. Will be interesting to see if this continues as the publics purse strings become tigher into next year.

I think that an upward trend regarding prices is a good thing if that also mean higher quality.

Low prices and low quality doesn't interest me at all.

I have to be honest, their food, even in YC, not so great. I've had better food in all the main dining rooms that I've mentioned above than in the YC.

I agree that not all food is perfect but if you let them know it, you will get something better.

    How?

What we know is that they are old and have mobility issues.

They will defenitely be escorted EVERYWHERE if they need/want.

Problem to get a soda from the minibar? A butler will help them.

Need help to get from sofa to balcony? A butler will help them.

Forgot the glasses when going to the lounge? A butler will get it for them.

There are lots of things they can get help with, as you know.

we are Android people, and we don't travel in Haven/YC/Retreat, etc. 🙂

I simply understand OP's worrying about being on different decks.

I understand the OP but see no reason to worry. All staff will really help them.

Maybe a menu of "included options" and everyone picks what they want........

For example, if they cut out my alcohol and gave me a facial and gelato, I'd be happy.

That is one way to do it, if the staff know who has what included so that I don't want to give them my card when ordering Champagne!

Back to the thread's original questions...I would like the gelato at the venchi bar to be included in the YC price...my waist size /weight after the cruise may not agree with me ....

I don't want them to include more things that will come with a cost because they will of course add that to the fare. Things like included spa services, venchi, more exclusive alkohol, specialty dining, excursions etc. is not an improvement, I think.

Ok, by the most part a simple "no thanks" suffixes to avoid those photographers.

The photographers were actually not very pushy. They always accepted a no. The problem was that the stairs were blocked so it wasn't possible to just pass the photographers and move on.

I've never found it to be that big of deal to say, "No thank you" and move on. There's a lot of people that don't get to cruise often that enjoy getting a nice photo taken - if that's you, enjoy it. If you don't need photos - smile, politely decline, and enjoy the rest of your evening.

But you can't really move on if the way is blocked.

Both sides or one? Google says the EU has similar laws to the US about obstructing emergency exits.

Are you thinking about the stairs close to the elevators?

The stairs I mean are the stairs going between the decks everywhere on the  "promenade area" on deck 6-8. (Sorry I wasn't clear about that.)

It was possible to use the staircase but if being in the middle of the promenade and wanting to go to another deck the walk was very long.

Thoose stairs are probably not considered to be emergency exits.

YC can help but you still end up in a busy terminal, just wait.

Depends on where. In Barcelona a butler follow you all the way through the terminal and leave you outside. I know that in the US they are not allowed to do that.

We embarked in Barcelona last friday. Our butler took both our carryons from the lounge to the luggage claim. There he gave us the carryons and took both our large bags all the way to the taxiline.

I've never really had a problem with kids in the YC. They've all been well behaved.

    Have I just been lucky?

I don't think that you have just been lucky. I think the main reason is that there are so few big suites in the YC so normally there are very few children.

NCLs Haven has many more big suites so problems with kids is more likely there.

    1. More 2 bedroom and/or 2 bathroom options for the larger suites.

    2. Better dining options for the larger suites (either inside or on the balcony) including lunch/dinner.

    3. Bring the cabanas back and lose the pergolas.

    4. More live piano/violin for the TSL.

    5. A block of specialty restaurant reservations set aside exclusively for Yacht Club guests.

    6. Larger Yacht Club pool(s).

    7. Improved elevator hijack.

    8. Larger Ocean Cay area (commandeer part of Bimini beach).

    9. Better enforcement of Yacht Club areas (interloper prevention).

    10. Exclusive excursions.

I like most of your suggestions, especially since they don't really cost much.

Number 1 I don't like because that may lead to more people in the YC.
