  1. On Explorer in June with one of my daughters and her family. Was going to book my time dining for us all (7 of us) but the earliest time available is 6.45pm. Does anyone know what time the main dining room starts please? I’m hoping it’ll be earlier than 6.45pm as we have three children with us.
    Thanks

  2. Hi Fiona we got back yesterday from the same itinerary as you. We found it brilliant and oddly enough there were four Alpha medical emergencies. One required a helicopter evacuation. If you’re heading to Chops I would recommend taking a cardigan as it was really cold in there. We went three times but after the first one I had the sense to put on a jumper.
When we sailed through Biscay it was like a milk pond really really calm so I hope it’s the same for you today

  3. I’m on Anthem currently and I don’t think D+ are allowed in to the CL. It’s very quiet most nights in the lounge but the guys serving are brilliant (Cosme and Conrad).

In terms of breakfast and lunch, you can go to the Coastal Kitchen on deck 14 next to windjammer. I have to say the service there (CK) is fabulous. They’re all so friendly and the banter is really good. They attend so quickly to everything you want. Best I’ve experienced. The food is good as well so no complaints whatsoever.

Been a couple of times to Chops and whilst the food is OK somebody needs to turn the heating up as it was freezing the three nights we were there. Izumi food is as usual good but the venue location is a bit disappointing. Still we’re there for the food so that’s the main thing.

We’re in La Coruna tomorrow but we may be late in to port as there was a medical emergency this afternoon and the captain had to sail closer to shore for the helicopter to land. I hope the person involved  is OK.  Heard the Alpha Alpha Alpha call at 0100 this morning so can only assume it’s linked.

  4. Today we’re in Arrecife Lanzarote and decided to go to the beach we’ve done many times before. It’s called Playa Del Reducto and is right next to the Arrecife Gran Hotel. Can’t miss it when you’re in port as it’s the only high rise building in Arrecife. It’s a nice white sand beach and pretty shallow as well. However here comes the bad news the sun lounger seller is no longer there so it’s towels on the beach which my wife and I didn’t fancy so we headed back to the ship. It’s really handy too as it’s a five/ten minute taxi ride to it and I paid 10 euros each way. Must be covid related so can understand why the beach guy is no longer there. You can see the high rise in the distanceC167C68D-F58F-4406-ADE9-9972F8123AA6.thumb.jpeg.0075b3cde8e131e0d7cbcfc18844a69c.jpeg

  5. There is a Beatles tribute band and also one for the Jersey Boys called East Coast Boys. Noticed there is also a group called The Dukes playing.  There’s also competitions like name that tune as well. Not seen them yet but will be going along at some stage. Lisbon is a fabulous city and one that my wife and I love coming back to.

Not seen anything regarding the pixels show in 270 Cyn.  If I do I’ll post.

Sea day tomorrow and I’ll try and post some pics of other parts of the ship like Two 70, Music Hall etc.

The main dining room attire is pretty standard casual dress. The fancy stuff comes out during the formal nights.

Must mention the five free drinks per D+ member. Works brilliantly well and really impressed with it. First couple of nights we didn’t use up our quota at all but now if we have any spare we get water or cans of lemonade etc. to take to the room. It’s far better in my opinion than the happy hour in the diamond lounge but again that is only my view.

  6. Hi garden girl. Check in was a breeze. Just do a covid home test with no supervision required and take proof of the negative test and your good to go.

In Lisbon this morning and when the sun was out it was nice and warm. Had a deluge of rain hit us when in the square but we had brought our waterproof jackets so it wasn’t a problem.

  7. Took a few photos tonight inside the ship. Weather a bit blowy but reasonably smooth sailing. Couple of the sliding doors were locked due to the wind

Will take more in the days ahead both of the ship and ashore.

  8. On Amthem of the Seas out of Southampton until 23rd September. Off to the Canaries and Madeira so thought I’d share some photos with you. Probably not a full blown review but some stuff you might be interested in.

In Vigo today and so far it’s been pouring down. However just a few minutes ago the sun came out so we headed to the suite sun deck section and plonked ourselves on a couple of loungers. Only one other person here unsurprisingly. However I hope
the sun behaves for a bit and we can catch some vit D.
