  1. No - that is part of butlers’ job description. No need to tip extra for that.
  2. I agree with you on both counts - we fly in early and usually spend time on both ends. That said, many are comfortable arriving the same day and those taking O air w/o deviation don’t have any say about it (by their own choice 😊)
  3. Close to boarding is not bad if all goes well - less time to hang around before boarding with luggage in tow.. If the ship doesn’t leave till, say, 6 PM that night then it is not so close as far as not missing the ship.
  4. I don’t see a problem with that as long as everyone gets their allotted number of reservations. I think that the one who pays the fare of an owner suite should get the EXTRA reservation over the one that has paid for an inside; likewise someone who has spent money with O for 30 cruises should get that extra reservation over the one on their first O cruise (who may or may not return). Do you want that little extra attention or a little special treatment? Get an upper suite or sail enough with the line to have high loyalty level - it’s common sense and it makes sense to the companies (cruise lines, airlines, hotels, etc). Loyalty should be rewarded in all business models.
  5. Probably business class (BC)
  6. It does but it varies more with itineraries than ships per se. On a tropical cruise - like Carib, Hawaii or FP - you are more likely to see shorts in the Terrace.
  7. Sabrefan, You didn't ask about this but just FYI We've been to Rome many times before and next year we too have a turnaround in Rome on a B2B We plan on taking a tour to Orvieto and Civita di Bagnoregio with one of the local tour operators (like limoinrome): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Civita_di_Bagnoregio
  8. I think that this characterization is unnecessarily harsh and I don't believe that this is true. The performers are not West End or Broadway quality - if they were we would see them on those stages - but that does not automatically imply that they are awful. We have seen a number of very good performances. Some are better than others but none were awful IMO. As always, YMMV.
  9. Good to see you back on CC zz19 - I missed you πŸ™‚
  10. ...and they are only bronze - not even a precious metal like gold or platinum πŸ˜€πŸ˜€
  11. Thank you for the review. Glad you enjoyed your cruise - nice to hear positive reports for a change 😊
  12. One heads up note - if you happen to be there on a Monday, arrange a visit to Hermitage on Monday. The museum is closed to the public but open to private tours. We did that thanks to SPB tours and were almost alone in the Hermitage - a very rare treat indeed compared to the masses one usually encounters there.
  13. O Life option gives you a choice of 3 different options - Included excursions, Drinks package or OBC. You must choose one of these. If you were to pick only 2 excursions and $100 OBC in place of the third excursion, you would be in essence combining 2 of the 3 options - 2/3 excursions and 1/3 OBC. Obviously this is not the intent of O Life.
  14. I am guessing you had to make the tea yourself this morning as well πŸ˜€
  15. Is there a table for self service anywhere in the lounge or is it cart service only? TIA
  16. Good choice - you will be pleasantly surprised by Turkish airlines business (rated the best European airline for 10 years running). πŸ™‚ Layover in Istanbul is a nice bonus.
  17. We have used both Alla and SPB tours - both excellent. SPB offers tours in other Baltic ports as well as Berlin - might save some money that way.
  18. That is an understatement πŸ˜€ We will be cruising on the Douro on the Viking later this month into early Oct. and will be happy to report our experience.
  19. I guess you are not considered to be a Torontonian
  20. It used to be a small town but not anymore πŸ˜€
  21. Great pictures - thanks. She looks better than I thought she would, though it will take me some time to get used to the new look. πŸ™‚ You must have been the first one on - the ship looks completely empty in most pictures.
  22. To be more accurate - shorts and most jeans are not allowed in the MDR and specialties at night - they are perfectly OK in the MDR during the day and also at night in the Terrace Cafe. The smaller ships have the same exact rules.
  23. I find that to be true (and strange) as well. You would think that you would recognize most people on the roll call from the O forum but that is not the case for majority. It's like O forum & roll call live in parallel universes πŸ™‚
  24. That it is - currently at around A$1600+/night - unless you get it free like we did a few years ago. At that time Chase had an offer on their Hyatt credit card. Open the card - no spending requirement and you get 2 free nights at any Hyatt in the world. We both got the card and had 3 night at that great property for free. Ahhhh - the good old days - how I miss them πŸ˜€
  25. I agree with that sentiment to a degree. We are often away from home for extended periods of time, although never for 6 months. Because of that I too have to make occasional "arrangements" online while away - renew medications so they will be there when I get home, pay bills, book award flights when they first open, check emails to make sure nothing "catastrophic" is going on at home or with bank accounts/credit cards, make urgent phone calls using wifi, etc, etc. That said, the internet on Oceania has always been adequate for these functions. I can see where it would not be sufficient for Facebook or face time or downloading 50 pictures but we never use it for those purposes so it works fine for us. We have experienced better internet on some other lines (Crystal & Viking Ocean, for example) but what O has, suffices for us. As always, YMMV
