  1. To clarify - the new S Cabin spreadsheet DOES NOT include any of the information in Mysticks original Solstice Cabin spreadsheet. It was too time consuming to try to cut & paste from her pdf file so I just started my own Excel file which I converted to a pdf. If anyone does know of an easy way to convert pdf to Excel, please enlighten me!!

  2. Here is the update to Mysticks spreadsheet. I have also posted this link on the Solstice cabin sticky. It includes threads posted from October 27, 2009 to the present. (I still have a few pages of posts from fall 2009 to add but wanted to get this out to those who were waiting).

Generally, I have followed the design created by Mysticks - why mess with success. Modifications include:

Addition of ship name when provided (please do so in future posts)

Deck listed by # rather than name, for space purposes

Negative comments that affect the desirability of the cabin have been noted in red, boldface. Comments on other ship issues etc. are generally not noted in red as they are not strictly cabin-related.

Whenever comments are long, there is a reference to "see comments" and these have been posted in the "Problems/Comments" column.

The spreadsheet is formatted for landscape, legal size (it was too difficult to try to fit all the valuable comments into a smaller format).

Please let me know if you see any errors or omissions. I will be updating the spreadsheet regularly. You may email me at cruisefansandi@gmail.com

I hope many of you find this useful; I know that Mysticks original spreadsheet has been very helpful to me as has CC in general. Cheers!:o

  4. Can someone post link to the updated spreadsheet? Thanks!

I am in the process of updating the spreadsheet; hope to have it completed shortly and will post a link then. It hadn't been updated since Sept. 09 so there are quite a few cabins. This will be a separate spreadsheet from the one Mysticks originally created but the format will be the same.

You can subscribe to this thread so you will receive email notification of any new posts.

  5. Gosh, I sure wish and hope he will be on the Solstice for the October 17, 2010 sailing. He sounds awesome and it would be so neat to have him as our Captain too. We will be celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary right along with Celebrity's 20th Anniversary. We spent our honeymoon aboard RCCL's Song of America. I bet there are a few of you out there that sailed her too. My first cruise on RCCL was aboard the Nordic Prince a few years earlier. Anyone remember that ship?

    JoAnne

If that's not worth an invitation to dine at the captain's Table, I don't know what is!! Congrats.

  6. This was a port side cabin with bed next to bath. My sister's cabin next to us, 7271, had a bed next to the balcony. I preferred bed next to bath. Stewart opened closure between two cabins so we could have shared verandas. No soot, not much wind, good storage, nice design, especially bathroom with cupboard storage, good amount of hangers, hairdryer in desk next to balcony.outlets were there. Our room stewart, Nazerth, was excellent.

Heard loud noise while taking shower like a cart crashing. We think it was sound of toilet flushing above us. Did not hear this in cabin room, only in bathroom when taking a shower. Was not bothersome. The ship does rock a bit probably do to its height.

Please use "form" developed by Mysticks when posting cabin info. Not only is it easier for others to read in this sticky, but it is also easier paste into the spreadsheet. Thx.

  7. This is a great thread and I check it out regularly looking for our cabins on upcoming Solstice cruises. I notice that the spreadsheet has not been updated for some time, so I went snooping. It appears Mysticks has not posted anything since September. I am sure that keeping the spreadsheet took a lot of time - and maybe she finds herself short on time these days?

Anyway, thanks Mysticks for all the time you put into compiling this information.

FYI, an update to the spreadsheet (with the approval of CC hosts) is in the works. Please help in future posts by identifying the ship you sailed. With more S class ships coming on line, I am adding ship identifier when provided. Thx.

  8. I copied this from an earlier post; sorry I don't have the author of the thread. It pertains to hump cabins in Aqua Class. If you search "hump cabins" in this forum, you will find lots of additional information.

Of the 8 Aqua Class Staterooms on this angle, 1606 and 1601 are the largest -- Huge. We fit 6 people comfortable on our veranda and could have squeezed in 2 more with no problem at all. After that, 1599 and 1604 are the next 2 largest of the 8, just a couple of feet or so shorter. The rest of the staterooms on the angle (1610, 1608, 1605, and 1603) are smaller because there is a Attendant's closet on each side before you enter the rooms, so they are set in by about 4 feet or more which takes up that room from the balcony. My neighbor was quite surprised.

Our Stateroom attendant also took care of the nearby Suites -- need I say more about the Quality and Attention to Detail?

If you're looking for connecting rooms, I would recommend 1604 and 1606 as you could open up the glass to connect the two balconies and walk next door. There was a supporting beam between 1606 and 1608. You could open up the glass connecting the two balconies, but the glass was triangularly shaped on the beam so you would have to climb over the beam to get onto each other's balcony. Same for 1601 and 1603.

  9. Hi earlier in this thread someone (think it was scottamiller) gave a list of hump cabins that seem to be the best to go for, I am asking about Penthouse deck 1608 seems not to be mentioned, though those around it seem to be, could I ask you why this is? I have 1610 on the Eclipse in Sept and my son has the pre mentioned 1608, I actually booked these and it would'nt look very nice if theirs were less favourable. Hope you can help.

    Many thanks Kathleen

I have 1610 on Solstice and have read all I can find about this cabin. Sounds like a great location and super large balcony (I think 1608 is a bit smaller). My only concern is the attendant;s closet next door; hopefully it won't be too noisy. If you can't find any information on the Solstice sticky, do a search in this forum for "1608" or "1610"

Enjoy Eclipse; can't wait to try it too!

  10. You'd want to avoid the dreaded window washing equipment. On Equinox, I believe it was parked at 1552. Luckily I learned about this thanks to CC and switched to 1519. This is a nice area; very close to the Relaxation Lounge, Spa and forward elevators. Balconies are regular sized and do get sun. We did like the balcony by the bath configuration but haven't tried the other arrangement. Only issue with our cabin was some noise from the gym above. You would also want to avoid being too close to crew doors. I believe Ellbon reported on the problem of 1535 in this regard.

Aquaclass is awesome...enjoy...can't wait to try Solstice!

  11. I believe that the pools are the only part of the Solarium that has an age restriction (16+). At least those were the only places (pool & 2 hottubs) on the Solstice that I saw any signs mentioning age. That said, I did not see any children in the Solarium on our 1/31/10 cruise, but there were very few children on board.

Since the Solarium is between the forward elevators and the main pool area, it would be very difficult to restrict access to the entire Solarium for any reason.

I know that the sentences above do not match my previous post in this thread, but that was what I meant earlier (age restrictions for the pools).;)

Thanks for the clarification. I didn't see any signs on Equinox; might be one of those areas where the ships differ. Were there a lot of smoking areas on Solstice. I was a bit surprised at how many smoking areas Equinox offered, esp. the area betw. the pool and Solarium which was pretty nasty to walk through.

  12. I loved the Solarium on Equinox. The pool is large enough to do short laps; there are also 2 hot tubs available and lots of nice loungers to relax on. The AquaSpa cafe is in the Solarium and open for breakfast and lunch. On Equinox, Solarium was not limited to those 16 plus, but I only saw kids there once with their dad (I think most kids preferred the outside pools).

  13. Deck - 11 (Penthouse)

    Cabin # 1519

    Class – Aquaclass

Starboard or Port Side - Starboard

Bed near?(balcony or bath) – Bath

Quiet Cabin (With comments on problems. Note if connecting. ) Fairly quiet. No hall noise but some from above.

Balcony View - – on starboard side, with a nice view of the bridge. Visibility forward and aft.

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Normal sized.

    Was wind a problem? Never.

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? N/A

Any specific problems with this cabin? None.

Any other comments? Loved the location. Very close to the Relaxation Lounge and forward elevators. Made access to Fitness Center, Solarium and pool very convenient.

  14. Just wanted to report back how much we enjoyed Playa Uvas. Booked the all-inclusive pass online prior to our 3/5 Century cruise based on all the raves on CC. Glad we did! Quick $10 cab ride and we were there. Carmen greeted us by name and showed us where to wait for our guide. Reyes our guide for both kayaking and snorkeling was great! I was pretty nervous about snorkeling (couldn't manage to put my face under water and swim at the same time) so he pulled me around on the ring!!

After the tours (which only included 4 other people) we had a great fajita lunch in the shade. I asked for some hot sauce and was glad I tasted it before I put a lot on my tortilla - whew was it ever hot! I had several margaritas and dh enjoyed some Dos Equis. Never any trouble getting our waiter's attention - he was great also. We didn't spend anytime on the beach as we wanted to get in to town and do some shopping. Cabs were waiting right out front and took us to Forum Shops for $15.

We had a lovely time at Playa Uvas and would recommend it highly.
