  2. Hi, I know that a lot of people have been posting about Ft. Lauderdale hotels and wanting to know which ones are open, closed, have power, were damaged, etc. For anyone who is searching for rooms, I thought it might be helpful to have a thread where someone can go to and find information all in one place. So please feel free to add your updates here if you have any on hotels. I will go back to previous threads I have read with updates I have found.

  3. It's times like this I wish the US would invest money into underground wires like they do in other countries. If they just did it in places like Florida then people wouldn't have to worry about power lines coming down. You go to some countries and there isn't a single power line in sight. I mean if Fios can do underground fiber optic cables in so many areas why can't the electricity companies get Florida in a better place to avoid these awful outages?

  4. Fine we can turn Royal into the next Delta air on Social media...

You also agree not to sue a Doctor prior to surgery... But Doctors never get sued....

Do the right thing... Not what is the minimum ...

This could be a class action lawsuit the second a law firm smells blood...

The passengers on the "poop cruise" tried to sue and didn't get very far with it (which IMO, was a worst experience than this). They were given so little money that after lawyer fees and travel expenses, they were lucky if they broke even. Unless you're seriously injured (like with Costa Concordia) suing isn't going to work. Inconvenience doesn't get a lawyer's attention in these situations, especially with cruise ships. The whole "let's sue" discussion comes up essentially any time a cruise company gets into less ideal situations.

  5. I think that San Juan and Nassau, as cruise destinations, are probably going to be priority when it comes to repairs and so-on. Tourism is a huge part of the economy in the Caribbean and I think that they don't want to use that revenue because the longer they go without tourists, the less money they have to repair and rebuild. The coast guard is about ready to reopen Port Everglades and fuel ships are standing by to refill the cruise ships once they come into port. I am, personally, pretty optimistic. My biggest concern now is Jose. It's possibly going to head out toward the Bahamas, but it sounds like this storm has been unpredictable.

  6. Ever been to a restaurant and have the waiter come back and say "I'm sorry but we're out of the dinner you ordered?" Do you get up and leave or do you order something else?

And if I had a client that paid me for a project and I wasn't able to deliver due to weather, I'd feel pretty awful if they took their money back instead of letting me do my job and just give them what they asked for later on. Like I'd want to be given the opportunity to give them what they paid for, I can't control the weather, I still have everything involved to give them what they need, I just can't safely give it to them the moment they asked for it for reasons I can't control.

  7. Maybe this is a dumb question but, I have never been to Europe before and this confuses me. We will be arriving at Heathrow at 19:45 which is 7:45 pm US time. I went to the, Just Airports website and it is asking for pick up time. With baggage pickup and immigration we are thinking 9:30 pm. Do I put that in or 21:30? It says, 24 hour time.

You said "US time", I just want to make sure we're talking about local time and not origin time (like EST). People tell time in the U.S. using 24 hours too, my dad always does. Good way to remember is adding 12. So 9:30 + 12 = 21:30. Or in my head, I just add 10 and then 2.

  8.

Anyone know where the empty ships are? Just out at sea? Wondering where Majesty is...

Some of them are carrying employees - I believe Enchantment. Some offered guests additional days to stay if they couldn't get home safely. They all went west to avoid the hurricane. I thought this article was kind of interesting -- https://www.usatoday.com/story/travel/cruises/2017/09/05/hurricane-irma-scatters-cruise-ships-caribbean/632658001/
