People have previously reported that the drink package is worth it if you drink 5-6 drinks a day (alcoholic). Of course, the peace of mind has its own value as well.
-
Depends on how you drink. Do you need a drink with dinner? During shows? By the pool? How important is the location for you to drink? And how much will you be drinking? Remember that the drinks package is usually only worth it if you're drinking 5-6 times a day.

Planned on taking Uber this weekend and was wondering if there is still an issue finding gas in Ft. Lauderdale and if it's impacting the amount of Uber drivers on the road?
-
I've also seen Fruit Punch in some places too included (l think I only saw this option in the buffet area)

Hi, I know that a lot of people have been posting about Ft. Lauderdale hotels and wanting to know which ones are open, closed, have power, were damaged, etc. For anyone who is searching for rooms, I thought it might be helpful to have a thread where someone can go to and find information all in one place. So please feel free to add your updates here if you have any on hotels. I will go back to previous threads I have read with updates I have found.

Homewood Suites might have some rooms open if anyone ends up looking for a room. We are scheduled to go out to FLL Saturday evening and so I have been watching their Facebook and they said they were open and had rooms available, but their phone line was down. They also would only be able to accept cash if anyone didn't make reservations online.

It's times like this I wish the US would invest money into underground wires like they do in other countries. If they just did it in places like Florida then people wouldn't have to worry about power lines coming down. You go to some countries and there isn't a single power line in sight. I mean if Fios can do underground fiber optic cables in so many areas why can't the electricity companies get Florida in a better place to avoid these awful outages?

Fine we can turn Royal into the next Delta air on Social media...
You also agree not to sue a Doctor prior to surgery... But Doctors never get sued....
Do the right thing... Not what is the minimum ...
This could be a class action lawsuit the second a law firm smells blood...
The passengers on the "poop cruise" tried to sue and didn't get very far with it (which IMO, was a worst experience than this). They were given so little money that after lawyer fees and travel expenses, they were lucky if they broke even. Unless you're seriously injured (like with Costa Concordia) suing isn't going to work. Inconvenience doesn't get a lawyer's attention in these situations, especially with cruise ships. The whole "let's sue" discussion comes up essentially any time a cruise company gets into less ideal situations.

Is St. Kitts safe to do on your own? I have heard about the con artists trying to force monkeys on you, but once you get away from the port area is it safe to walk around and do things on your own?

We just got assigned our cabin (neighborhood guarantee) and it's Central Park balcony. I'm not a fan of red, but I like white. I would take a cheap bottle of white over red. But everything I've read so far that they won't exchange the wine. I am guessing they buy the wine in bulk and so get a huge discount on the wine and it's not worth much when it comes down to it.

Have they given port times for St Kitts yet?
All we received was an e-mail saying we were going to St. Kitts instead of St. Martin. No times yet.

I think that San Juan and Nassau, as cruise destinations, are probably going to be priority when it comes to repairs and so-on. Tourism is a huge part of the economy in the Caribbean and I think that they don't want to use that revenue because the longer they go without tourists, the less money they have to repair and rebuild. The coast guard is about ready to reopen Port Everglades and fuel ships are standing by to refill the cruise ships once they come into port. I am, personally, pretty optimistic. My biggest concern now is Jose. It's possibly going to head out toward the Bahamas, but it sounds like this storm has been unpredictable.

Ever been to a restaurant and have the waiter come back and say "I'm sorry but we're out of the dinner you ordered?" Do you get up and leave or do you order something else?

And if I had a client that paid me for a project and I wasn't able to deliver due to weather, I'd feel pretty awful if they took their money back instead of letting me do my job and just give them what they asked for later on. Like I'd want to be given the opportunity to give them what they paid for, I can't control the weather, I still have everything involved to give them what they need, I just can't safely give it to them the moment they asked for it for reasons I can't control.

So I am wondering then when the proper time is to call Royal up and ask about room assignments... like is it safe to leave my home without knowing we have a room.

Maybe this is a dumb question but, I have never been to Europe before and this confuses me. We will be arriving at Heathrow at 19:45 which is 7:45 pm US time. I went to the, Just Airports website and it is asking for pick up time. With baggage pickup and immigration we are thinking 9:30 pm. Do I put that in or 21:30? It says, 24 hour time.
You said "US time", I just want to make sure we're talking about local time and not origin time (like EST). People tell time in the U.S. using 24 hours too, my dad always does. Good way to remember is adding 12. So 9:30 + 12 = 21:30. Or in my head, I just add 10 and then 2.

It looks like that when they do bump people, it's those who live close by? I can't imagine being turned away after paying for a flight.
-
Have there ever been any cases where someone has showed up to the pier, cruise fully paid for, but maybe with a guaranteed room, so no room assignment, and then told "whoops! We overbooked the cruise ship! There's no cabin available to you"?
-
It is possible they are live streaming on you tube. They did during Harvey.
They are. 24/7 Hurricane panic for your enjoyment :D

I've been using Google for real time updates on the hurricanes if anyone is looking for a site to check out the latest on where Irma is:
-
Jose is definitely not going the same path as Irma and isn't looking to hit Nassau, so Allure going to the Bahamas is pretty likely at this point.

Anyone know where the empty ships are? Just out at sea? Wondering where Majesty is...

Some of them are carrying employees - I believe Enchantment. Some offered guests additional days to stay if they couldn't get home safely. They all went west to avoid the hurricane. I thought this article was kind of interesting -- https://www.usatoday.com/story/travel/cruises/2017/09/05/hurricane-irma-scatters-cruise-ships-caribbean/632658001/

This stuff makes me nervous... I still haven't received a room assignment yet (Neighborhood balcony guarantee) and their website and system already sucks so bad that I am a little scared I will show up to the port and not have a room...

I am wondering if anyone has taken any exercise classes on the Allure and if they are worth the price tag.

Can the big ships like Allure and Oasis dock there?
