  1. Wow! Scary stuff. I hate those gangways. If there's any type of line inside them I start to get really uneasy. Especially because it gets pretty warm in there with me being claustrophobic and all. I try not to think about it but in the back of my mind I am worried about it collapsing. It has happened before and I just don't like them.

Hope no dock workers were hurt.

I have never once even considered it. I probably will now...

So glad no one was hurt though. I wonder how they got everyone off

  2. Sorry if this is already known to many of you. I knew we could purchase the 12pk of water bottles from bon voyage, but apparently they are also available from room service too as found in this info here:

    Bottled Water

We know some of our guests are accustomed to bringing on their own supply of bottled water so as part of this policy we have significantly reduced the pricing for (purified) bottled water which will be conveniently delivered directly to your stateroom. Once onboard, the purchase is non-refundable; guests may take home any unopened bottles.

    Pricing is as follows:

$3.99 USD for a 12-pack of bottled water (16.9 fluid ounce per bottle) for pre-cruise purchase. Please visit The Fun Shops at http://www.carnival.com/FunShops/in-room-beverages/water to place your order before your cruise to ensure we have an ample supply onboard.

$3.99 USD (plus gratuity) for a 12-pack of bottled water (16.9 fluid ounce per bottle) for purchase onboard by contacting Room Service.

  3. OP,

I feel your frustration. People can be mean. I'm sure they'd be just as frustrated if they were delayed getting on a cruise they'd been waiting a while for.

Hopefully, you don't have to wait much longer and you can start your vacation.

    Hang in there. :)

  4. Hmmm... as far as I know, power strips are on the list of confiscated items during baggage inspections. Do not take one and expect it to be in your luggage. Usually the letter says you can claim your contraband at the end of the cruise.

I have had 2 power strips confiscated (returned at the end of the cruise). The first one my DW packed without my knowledge, the second, I packed without thinking....

I would take a laptop/tablet etc with USB ports to charge your devices. They only take one power outlet. I always use a three way power plug

(the kind you use for Christmas lights :)) to multiply my power outlets when needed. I pack them in my carry on and so far, never had an issue.

My last "power strip" was not confiscated, and honestly, I can't remember if I had brought one every time. It is often one of those facepalm moments where I forgot to pack one. Anyhoo, I brought this one on the Miracle last year, and it died after the first day:

  5. It's not meant to be snarky. It's simply frustration. I realize that not everyone spends a ton of time on here, and may not recall every single thing that gets discussed. But this subject pops up all the time with the same responses on what is and isn't allowed. Some questions can be answered simply by looking at the FAQs on Carnival's website.

I can totally understand wanting opinions and that is what this place is for. However, I feel like sometimes people just aren't comprehending what others say. That particular Belkin surge protector has been discussed to death. I simply cannot understand what part of surge protectors are prohibited people can't comprehend. And it's gets tiresome of hearing people say they have brought them over and over again and never had a problem. Doesn't matter.

It is coming off snarky. I have been on a lot of cruises, and I have brought one many...whether or not the one I've brought has had a "surge protector" or just a power strip, I do not know. I have never known it was not allowed. A lot of prohibited items fall in the "common sense" list. For example, no one needs to tell me a toaster isn't allowed. I'd never even think of bringing one.

So this is an item that falls outside of the common sense items. These are used a lot these days because we rely on so many personal electronic devices. So this is one of those, "who would have thought it wasn't allowed?" items.

I skip a lot of conversations like many others because there are a lot of things I have done already and already pretty much have my "system" set. I appreciate the head's up, but simply because it has been discussed many times by many people doesn't mean we have all seen it and have ignored it, and maybe because of that it could be delivered in a

    "didja know" fashion instead :)

It might be more helpful to say, "you probably didn't realize this, but they are not allowed, and here's something that would accomplish what you want and still meet the approved list."

fwiw, and thank you for the information.

  6. Seriously? EVERY SINGLE TIME a power strip thread comes up, someone always has to chime in with this one. For the BILLIONTH time - it has a surge protector. And surge protectors are not allowed. Perhaps one should make use of the search function on here and see the myriad of threads and responses available on subjects.

OK seriously...how about you tell us your approved list of "power strips"...

  7. OK, I thought this could be a fun and helpful thread.

I would love to see all the THINGS that you have found to bring on the cruise that maybe the next person never thought of. It could be something from the Fun Shops that's a good deal. Or it could be a gadget you found online somewhere that is great when traveling.

A pic, link, or ordering info would be helpful too!

    I'll start:

I found these cool luggage tag holders so you can keep your carnival tags neat and don't have to tape or staple! I'm getting these before the next cruise! 511mBs6I0dL.jpg

and I picked up this travel power strip with usb plugs! 6181C7opylL._SL1200_.jpg

What cool item have you found for your cruise?!:)

  8. I just submitted my second price drop, and it was approved right away, but it's odd - instead of dropping the price by the difference, they put a $50 OBC on my account (which is more than the price difference). Which I would be very happy about, but reading the fine print, it's only for shore excursions, not to use onboard (for spa or bar purchases, for instance). Since we weren't planning any shore excursions, I was going to call Carnival directly to find out what can be done.

Does this happen often, that OBC is limited to shore excursions?

    KC

Are you going to Cozumel? It probably is not your price drop. There is a promotion right now giving $50 off excursions in Cozumel.

  9. Did you book it from your account? Regardless, if you go to your profile, click "add booking", and enter your booking number the countdown should appear

It has been booked from my account, my booking is regularly viewed and managed, I am logged in and no countdown. I have always had it before.
