  1. On the imagination now and they have the new room service menu. They still have all the old items for free with the new uncharge items. I'm dying to try the firecracker shrimp! Does anyone know of a thread here that has pics of these new items?

  2. Misty, you want confusing? Try any of the Princess ships out of San Pedro. The issues you had with the Spirit deck plan seem to multiply on those ships.

Understand why Carnival wants to replace the Miracle, to mix things up a bit, but why the Splendor? Could've sent a different ship.

Parking is going to be a PITA with those three in Long Beach. With the Miracle the parking is bad enough. Adding in another 1,000 pax (for the Splendor) and we'll be parking by the Catalina Express office.

I don't recall parking being bad when the Splendor was there before.

BTW, where in Ontario are you? We lived there for about 10 years on the border of Chino. Between Woodcrest Junior High and the Chino Auction, just east of Campus.

  3. We'll be boarding her next week. From our perspective, she has a lot more open deck space than the Paradise so I think she'll be fine for us. Will write a review so will give our impression then. Curious what ships you're comparing her to.

Btw, any sign of "Seuss at a Sea?"

Can you give us any more details about what you liked?

Actually, there is far more deck space on the Fantasy class of ships. I've been on Elation, Paradise, and Inspiration, and I'll take it over spirit class anyday!! They have a very open Lido, and the promenade and atrium are also much more "open" with more light.

  4. So just got off the Miracle yesterday. Of all the ships I've been on, this is absolutely, without a doubt my least favorite ship. I have read that it is popular for being easy to navigate. I found exactly the opposite. I could not shake the turned around feeling. I have never had a problem with a new ship past the first day finding my way around. This was the worst.

But my least favorite part of it was the lack of open deck space. And the Lido was the most closed-in, claustrophobic lido ever.

Beyond that, I will say the crew was great, with the exception of the steak house. I found them rude and unaccomodating.

So I do hope the west coast gets a new ship at some point. I'm so not a fan.

    Fwiw,

  5. Ok so just getting off my 9th cruise and here's the big question I generated on this one:

Does anyone really buy the Park West art?

They put out so many flyers on it and frankly it is the one thing on a cruise that I have absolute 0 interest in and can't fathom anyone being excited to buy the art on a cruise.

    Anyone?

  6. This will be my first FTTF. I have always arrived at the cruise port before 11:am, and I have always boarded in time to have lunch on the Lido. I suspect with the sale of FTTF that there will be more people arriving early, and that tells me it might not be as easy as it used to be to board early without it, so we're trying it for that and for the other perqs. Not a bad deal AFAIC. And still not a bad deal if it goes up $10.

The one thing that people keep posting that makes me shake my head is saying it costs Carnival nothing.

    I seriously doubt that!!

Sorting luggage and delivering it to specific cabins early...that takes staffing hours and that costs money.

Assigning staff to shuffle more people through priority lines and assist with priority perqs...those hours cost money.

  7. I still haven't gotten mine. Several days after ordering they called to confirm my address. Irritated me that they did this. Address has been on VZW for years. Just a stalling tactic IMO. Anyway, I got a shipping notification 2 days after "confirming the address," and My UPS shows them to arrive soon. My UPS also shows a signature required, and Verizon Rewards never indicated that in their email, so 2 strikes on them on the plastic cards so far.

    FWIW,

I ordered the e-cards a while back and had no problems whatsoever. I don't like how they handle the shipping of the plastic cards, and I don't like having to pay shipping on them either. Most gift cards have free shipping.

  8. Not my favorite. I am not a fan of the Lido lid. I found that on some days the lid would be closed when we had perfectly clear skies. Also because of the lid, the track blocks the perimeter on the deck above. Whereas on ships without there is a rail so you can stand at it and look down onto the lido. You can't on the splendor. I also wish that it had the pasta bar instead of the rotisserie.
