    Correct, Princess (a Carnival Corp Line) is the only cruise line that owns its own lodges in Alaska (I believe that there are 2 or 3).  Since HAL is also owned by Carnival, it makes sense for them to utilize them as well.

    I'd suggest using a TA for this as you will have logistics regarding cabin locations and having an adult either in the cabin or nearby (you need to have at least one person, 21 or over, in the cabin or "across the hall", or next door)

    Correct.  8566 (with the *) is a category 1D cabin (3 or more occupants) and 8568 is a 2D cabin (2 occupants).  Pricing is completely different with the two categories and is usually based on supply and demand.  Also, as a starting point, the 3 or more cabins (1D, 3D) are "usually" charged more for 2 people than the 2D and 4D cabins.

  4. Welcome to CC.  The current restrictions regarding L&S are as follows:   Original sail date must be before 5/1/21; new sail date must be before 5/1/22; same number of days, same cabin category, etc. 

     

    You can check what sailings are available to you by going to https://cancellation.royalcaribbean.com.  Follow the prompts for a L&S, just do not submit any choices you may make.

     

    As Biker said, you MUST talk with RCI to confirm that you are getting an AFT stateroom as the automated L&S process will assign you a cabin in some random fashion.

    Once rcl resumes it would be easy enough for rcl to have a small ship as a floating hotel for their cococay workers.  No need to ferry in locals.

    no need for a ship to be a hotel, they already have some 500 rooms built there.

    For those with Medicare coverage, be aware that Medicare does not provide any coverage outside the US, one reason we declined Medicare and kept our BCBS coverage in effect.  It provides medical care insurance worldwide and I always pack their info brochure in case.

     

    It's good to research and put the pencil to it.

    Just be aware that most domestic US policies will REIMBURSE you for medical expenses outside the us as they are not accepted in other countries.

    As I said, it is on a case by case basis, and it depends how your TA's relationship is with RCI..  (Being one of them I have some pull)...  I have had it go both ways.

    I cannot see this happening at first as RCI (and all other cruise lines) want their passengers and crews to remain "in the bubble" where they have full control over who they interact with.

RCI's refunds are done based on their internal cost center, this is why you get your refund in pieces that do not really make any sense to you.  As for the insurance, I would think that they need to coordinate the internal cost center with the insurance carrier to get it done, resulting in a lengthened refund time.   (This is only a guess based on my knowledge of how they allocate costs).

    Regardless of the rate, if you have the deposit covered by other payment methods it is always best to wait until about a week before the final payment due date to apply the FCC.  (This gives their system time to digest the FCC correctly 🙂 )

    That is not always the case.   If one FCC is more than one individual's fare it may be used as part for each person.  It's best to rely on RCI to determine the base fare that the FCC was applied to.  (I have tried to figure out many of these for my clients and found that RCI knows best 🙂 )

    When you apply a FCC, the cost of the cruise is lowered by the amount of the FCC.   You will not see the actual cruise cost.

     

    Yes, the RCI invoice will show how much FCC was applied, but you have no idea what it was applied to and how much was applied for each guest on the invoice.  RCI's own folks are really the only people who can figure this out correctly.

When you think you have a price drop, call RCI and tell them that your current pricing has an FCC applied.  If the agent on the phone does not know how to change the pricing ask them to get a supervisor on the phone.  the supervisor should know the drill, including getting their resolutions or revenue people involved, but they need to make that call (This is from a TA)...

RCI's last 2 "delay" dates were released as CLIA did an industry-wide update.   Lately, it has been the RCG's procedures to follow what the industry is doing.   I cannot see CLIA coming out with another announcement for at least a month, but that is just my guess.  (I presume a lot is based on how the current european sailings go).

  15. I believe it can as long as it has not been applied to any sailing.  Once applied the FCC is non-refundable.

     

    from the TA FAQ's:

    "After my client receives the 125% Future Cruise Credit, can they change their mind and opt for a 100% refund instead? Yes, refunds can be requested in exchange for unredeemed Global Suspension FCCs as follows: • Sailings departing on-or-before May 11, 2020: Refunds must be requested on-or- before December 31, 2021 and will be processed approximately 30 days afterthe request is submitted. *Highvolume has impacted our refund timeline, which has now pushed the estimate from 30-days to 45-days after the refund request is submitted. • All sailing suspension announcements made on-or-after April 16, 2020: Refunds must be requested on-or-before December 31, 2020 and will be processed approximately 45 days from the cancellation date. Upon processing the refund and reimbursing the original form of payment, the Future Cruise Credit will be deactivated. Additionally,if your client previously opted-in for the 125% Onboard Credit, it, too, will be deactivated when the refund is requested."
