  1. The Holiday Inn on Blvd Victor Hugo is in an excellent position. Only 10 minutes walk to the sea, and 10 minutes in the other direction to the main train station. Also regarding the tram stop on the corner of Victor Hugo and Av Jean Medecin, there are escalators as well as stairs.  It is a really popular station to get to the airport so plenty of people with luggage use it. Azamara Onward will be docking in the Port of Nice not Villefranche- another tip is to get the tram from the Port- this same tram will take you to the tram stop near your hotel.

  2. Hi jimbo1683, the Lido alternative menu you attached is from last year. Queen Elizabeth was trialling it as Modern British theme, and we had it last September. It was very good, much better than the typical Britannia menu, but it was only available for a few weeks and they have not offered it since. Strangely (or typical of Cunard with their lack of attention to detail), the website and the My Voyage App both show this menu instead of what is actually being currently offered.  Also even though Cunard say you can book ahead of the cruise online, it does not actually work. So wait until you are on the ship.

  3. You can’t book them beforehand, but it is possible to book on the My Voyage app once you have set it up after embarkation or phone the Pursers office to make the reservation.
I am on Queen Elizabeth now and the only Lido Alternative dining option is Riviera - med themed. I’m not sure if Queen Victoria is doing the same options as QM2 however it is $25 pp.

  4. I have just spent over 2 hours waiting on hold, on 2 calls to the 034 number on their UK website.Am in the same situation as DebbieMacG, attempting to pay for a cruise. Can someone provide the email address for Azamara which is being monitored by them so I can ask how someone in the UK can make a payment.

    Thanks!

  5. To clarify, early dining is 5.45pm to be seated by 6.15pm and late dining 8.15pm to be seated by 8.45pm. We arrived just after 6pm last night and would guess only a minority arrived at 5.45pm as most tables were still empty. Main  course has been served @7pm.

    Afternoon tea is 3pm.

  6. All Celebrity ships are too big to dock in the Port of Nice, so they actually mean anchoring off Villefranche. Look it up on a map.  Absolutely beautiful. Get a tender to shore. You can DIY local bus/train to many interesting places if you don't want to walk around  Villefranche. Trains are very cheap. I don't recommend the local bus serve at Villefranche these days, as they are full of people to/from Monte Carlo all the time. But still very cheap if you want to do it. Trains are better but can still be very crowded.  Corsica on Celebrity will probably  be Ajaccio so you can DIY. Lovely town, full of history, beautiful scenery and  good local food market 10 minutes from when you get off the ship, also Napoleon's birthplace nearby.  Marseille for the Celebrity ships,  unfortunately you will be at the new cruise port which is horrible and a long way from the heart of Marseille. DIY- if you know how - otherwise you need the ship shuttle into town. Marseille is truly interesting, however if you have never been to this region before, a trip to Aix-en-Provence or to the Luberon may be what would appeal to you more.

  7. We were talking to a member of staff this morning who thought at least 60 cabins are currently occupied by people who have tested positive.

@ace2542 no announcement to say covid tests for all passengers leaving the ship tomorrow - it is not a UK requirement.

A number of passengers have been sitting in the Commodore club this week sniffing and with continual coughs….I admire the honesty of those others who got themselves tested, knowing their cruise experience would be severely limited with a positive test result.

  8. ‘‘Dinner at the Lido’ is the $20 replacement for Coriander etc which was set in the screened off starboard rear section of the Lido. It was operating on our September and December cruises, but is not being offered on the current cruise. It is not to be confused with the evening port side buffet which sometimes has a theme such as Indian a couple of nights ago.

The new menu was on the theme of modern cuisine, we went there in Sept and thought it v good, noticed the same menu was there in December.

  9. Despite this cruise now being cancelled, I was able to log into "My Cunard" just now, no message there to say the cruise is cancelled, and actually noticed the health declaration is now available to be completed! I tested this out and received the "You're Safe to Travel" email from Cunard. This is shocking considering there may be someone booked on this cruise who is still unaware the cruise has been cancelled.

  10. The Queen Elizabeth Northern Light cruise in March may have the same type of overnight as the Queen Victoria ones which had overnights at Tromso and Narvik, however the ship did not do 2 full days in each port, but left early morning on the second day. One was @3am and the other @7am, so its really only for the benefit of chasing the Northern Lights at night, with most tours returning between 11pm and 1am.
