  1. Yes, if you are in an OC, vista or owners suite. Two towels will be in a terry cloth beach bag with a hat, a visor and sun products. The bag was on one of the loungers on the balcony. The same items were gifted when

renting a cabana, but alas they no longer exist! 😢😢😢

    Love those towels!

  2. I don't recall paying extra for the ginger beer, but it was the non alcoholic kind and I did have the SBP. I have made other requests before boarding and wasn't charged for them either. Hope that helps.

  3. Thanks for the info. Unfortunately, I believe you are right. I am bummed. I did a lot of research picking my cabin and cabana. I guess I'm lucky though, because there are many people who don't read cruise critic and will have no clue until much later.

By the way, I called HAL yesterday and the rep I spoke to said he highly doubted the blues cruise scenario, BUT, I shouldn't cancel because if I am bumped I would get a SBC. DONT NEED THE SBC....WANT A CRUISE!

It's really unethical that the cruise is still on sale on the HAL website when someone knows it ain't gonna happen!

    Thanks again!

  4. Thanks for all the answers and advice. I did call HAL and spoke to a random rep. He also checked the LRBC website where it clearly states koningsdam February 4-11. His answer was maybe they listed the wrong ship because my cruise is listed as 10 day and 21 day, when combining the 10 day cruise and the 11 day cruise following it. We'll see...ill really be bummed if it changes because I scored a family cabana. Oh well time will tell.

  5. Hi crew news,

Good to hear that the Internet charge was removed! In my case, the Neptune concierge removed it, my shipboard account did not have the additional charge on it, but when we checked the credit card on line, the HAL charge was $199 more. Still waiting for the refund since April 25th. I'm sure it will get handled, but I wonder how many passengers don't pay as much attention or just don't notice it.

Thanks for letting us know yours was taken care of.

  6. Just want to let you know...had same issue with additional internet charges. Also went to Neptune lounge to have it removed. Be careful....it is still on my credit card after calls, emails, etc. check your bill because a few things that concierge "credited" are still on there.

Who ever heard of unlimited internet expiring while you are still on board?

    Thanks for your review.

It may not be usual for an early upsell, but I got one at 6 weeks. I let my PCC know I was interested, as well as contact HAL directly to have a note made in my booking.

When I booked, there were no SAs available so I booked an SC at a hugely discounted rate. I later realized it was too far from the lounge for me and had a smaller floor plan. When final payment passed, a number of SAs became available and Voila!

Be prepared to jump quickly and have an idea of whAt would be an agreeable charge. I was very lucky. Hal came back with an up charge 1/2 of what I offered!

    Good luck!

  8. I did not receive the offering, however, I am on one of the odyssey Caribbean cruises in late October. One day, there was loads of availability and the next day only ocean view was available.. Is it possible that a group or a larger agency was allocated all of the suites at a discount? Or maybe a private sale? I was very confused as to the sudden lack of available suites.

  9. Does anyone know how they remove the shellac? Is it soaking (remover wet cotton covered with foil) or is scrapping? A nail salon I went to ONCE insisted on scrapping it off and really ruined my nails.

Also, is it pretty standard that they charge to remove it even if you are paying for a new shellac manicure? Seems pretty expensive to charge for both in one manicure.

Thanks for an info. If it helps, I will be on HAL, Ryndam.

    Thanks again!

  10. Has anyone had this done recently? I am curious to know how they remove the old polish (scrape off or soak). Brands available? Also, do they have a large selection of colors?

I know these are all silly questions, but I am hesitant to book the appointment and pay without knowing.

    Thanks in advance!

  11. My husband and our travel companions wear jackets (no tie) probably 50% of the time and always to the specialty restaurants. That is how THEY are comfortable, but on O, you are free to do what makes you happy. You will fit on either way.

As far as ladies, I can only speak of my own experience. I am more comfortable in a dress and often wear dressy shoes. You will see many Chicos outfits, pantsuits, skirts and/or dresses. I have never seen any gowns, but certainly some more dressier attire. Fitting in is not the problem, it's fitting INTO your clothes after the first few dinners! (I usually bring some larger things for the end of the cruise!)

    Whatever you do, ENJOY!

  12. OVgirl for the link and Linda&Vern for the info.

Kraft Kruizers - what ship is your booked cruise on? We will be on the Ryndam. I will call ships services tomorrow to get more info. I know that the info says on select ships and my take is that not all the ships have a thermal suite. Am I right on that? I know that the Ryndam did last time I sailed it.

Will post here after a contact ships services.

  13. At least that is my recollection. Have been in 11080 and 11083 and, to the best if my memory, the hot tub is on the side with one (?) chaise and there were two regular chairs with a small table looking at the wake. I don't think there was room enough for a dinner to be served. Inside, however, four people could comfortably eat a meal at the table. Sounds like a fact finding mission is a good excuse to book another cruise!
