  1. I'm the same, hopefully I'll luck into another backup soon. I'm getting ahead of myself a bit, but in the next month or so I should be the proud owner of Stagg Jr. and Jack Daniels Coy Hill picks through my WA bourbon group. A first for me for both of them...
  2. Still Austin is nice...took a tour of the distillery last time I was down there. We're heading down next Saturday for a week to see our daughter in San Antonio...hoping to pick up another bottle I can't find at home.
  3. Threw together a little Saturday night dinner of cube steak, potatoes, and Brussels sprouts. As a kid, I would sit at the dinner table for hours rather than eat any vegetable other than raw carrots…my mom and dad are probably rolling over in their grave in astonishment after what I put them through nightly at dinner.
  4. But those three accounts are from Virginia, NY and CA. They couldn't possibly be related! 😉 On the bright side, at least OP got the resident CC "I'll heart every post that hates Royal" to react to all their posts, so they've got that going for them.
  5. As long as they leave Maya Chan alone, they can do whatever they want to CM.
  6. @Ozark_Kid I echo everyone else's sentiments on this thread. My mom and dad cruised almost 40 times, about 35 of them on Royal, so I saw them enjoying the sea quite often (as an aside, one running joke was that because my birthday is December 11th, and that was usually a time for prime deals, more often than not my birthday greeting was from a Royal ship phone and consisted of "Hey Lar, this call is costing us $15 a minute, happy birthday, we love you...click" 🤣). Anyway, after my dad had some carotid blockages in 2007 and then slowly his health got a little worse, cruising wasn't the same for them. He rarely got off the ship anymore, and it was harder and harder to have an enjoyable cruise. His last cruise was to Alaska we all took together in 2009, and then he made the same difficult choice. My heart goes out to you and I hope this decision allows you to have some extra beautiful time with your entire family!!
  7. We've been sitting at our gate at FLL by 8:00 many times. We've got a 9:45 departure in December and aren't sweating it. Can things happen? Of course. Usually our choices direct into Seattle are 7:00AM and 5:00PM, so it's always the later flight. Every so often, Alaska puts another AM flight into the mix so it becomes worth the risk rather than rent a car for the day.
  8. In my book, the greatest songwriter ever. What kind of genius mind do you possess to have "Freedom's just another word for nothing left to lose" circling around waiting to come out? Also, "Sunday Mornin' Comin' Down" is one of the greatest songs of all-time.
  9. Tonight’s dinner…smoked some pork chops on the smoker, smashed potatoes, green beans, and of course topped off with an OGD114 Old Fashioned.
  10. Andi and I made a long weekend trip to one of our fave places, McCall ID, for our anniversary. What would a post of mine be without mentioning that on the way through Oregon, I found some nice bottles. WA has a crazy liquor tax (over 20%), so it was nice to pay MSRP for a change. Stevie was very excited when we got home (we have a regular house/petsitter), but that excitement has obviously worn off.
  11. Weekend project…expanding the bar shelves. Bought some 8 ft. 1x10s at Home Depot and then stained them. But…those bottles look way too spread out. I think I’m wasting a lot of usable space. 🤣
  12. Sounds much needed and a fun time...hope your friends end up loving cruising as much as you do! Love Nachi, one of our faves as well. We usually do Maya Chan in Costa Maya, so looking forward to see what you all think about Pez Quadro.
  13. What a list...my mind immediately reverted to my elementary-school-self laying in bed listening to Casey Kasem's American Top 40
  14. Interesting. Not to derail this fine thread (too much), but I'm on Enalapril and only get a little edema on long airplane flights when I can't do much walking around...but I'd bet that is also caused by some poor circulation due to my Cauda Equina/nerve issues.
  15. Crazy pricing but predictable. I can get lucky at my neighborhood Safeway for $39.99 a couple times a year...when I'm there on the right day at the right time, I'll grab it. Every so often I daydream about them allowing passengers to open up a bottle purchased onboard...say you can buy that ER and have it opened and available for you at the Schooner Bar in your name. It'll never happen but I can dream.
  16. So many great steakhouses in NYC, you can ask 100 different people and get 100 different top 10s. My fave is Keen's in Midtown. But yeah, the thick sliced bacon at Luger's is almost worth the trek just by itself.
  17. Yeah, I'm not looking forward to replacing the entire length of fence (about 120') between us and the back neighbor. We have horribly bad soil in our area (it's about 4-6" of soil over a bed of river rock, it's almost impossible to dig), so about 15 years ago or so they brought in a bunch of topsoil for their backyard, and of course filled it all the way to the fenceline. So over the years, that has degraded the bottom of the entire fence...it's probably my next summer's project.
  18. This is awesome. No Sleep 'Til Brooklyn is on my morning going to work playlist to get me pumped for the day.
  19. Started off the Labor Day weekend by laboring’…replacing a couple fence sections. Then, a little stir fry waiting for Andi when she got home from work. And finally, ending the week and starting the weekend off right. Cheers, my friends!!
  20. Check out the Schooner Bar, they may still have the Toasted Marshmallow Old Fashioned. This is correct, if you're not a whiskey fan, an OF probably isn't going to be your jam.
  21. If our little mini-Bella on Adventure with @Momof3gurlz and Andy and @jmh2006 and Dave last October is any indication, I have no doubt it's going to be epic.
  22. Looking forward to this! We're on Freedom in December, first time on that class. Excited to see what you see and think!
